  1. I feel like my mom would have posted something this nuts when I first got tattooed if she had a facebook back then. She's a mom. Since she didn't, I think she instinctively just kind of punched me in the leg and complained to me for a month or so. She is completely over it and is fancies herself a connoisseur now. I know I wouldn't be a brat like this woman was, but I'm going to freak out when my daughter first dyes her hair or gets a dumb piercing.

  2. Armpits! Gah, when it even gets close I get the heebie jeebies. I don't even have a job right now, but when I am done with school I plan on working in a profession where it wouldn't be appropriate to have any visible ones. Since I can't wear a suit and tie, I am quite limited. Also, pretty sure I'll never do the boobs.

  3. Oh man, I was so excited to not be going to school over the summer. I thought I was going to read a ton and I have just not read anywhere near as much as I wanted. I read The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry, which was interesting and well-written, sometimes pretty funny. Then my friend begged me to read Water for Elephants, which really just wasn't my scene.

I'm absolutely taking suggestions for my next book though. I have four weeks left until school starts again.

  4. While we're on the subject, has anyone here ever met someone who was surprised to hear from you that Ed Hardy is a real person?

This one time I was getting an iced tea and my barista said "I really like your tattoos! They look like an Ed Hardy shirt!" All I could come up with was "Well, they are tattoos."

  5. I just downloaded this app yesterday and it is pretty sweet as far as I can tell. The layout is clean and everything is easy to find and read. I don't actually read that many forums, but this definitely made it easier on my phone. It was easy to find the forum and wasn't expensive at all for a no-ad application ($1.99.) The only thing I haven't figured out how to do is 'like' a post. No big deal.

  6. sometimes my tattoos even, they've healed, still get raised and start to itch in certain areas (my chest piece close to my sternum especially).

This definitely happens to me, and I've never really tripped about it. Like said earlier, tattoos are a pretty crazy thing to do to your body. Parts of my tattoos will itch and parts of my outline will get raised or whatever and I just kind of shrug it off with a "Wellp, that's what I get." I also have always had fairly sensitive skin.

  7. I think I'm a 20%er. I worked in the service industry when I was younger and I know a lot more goes into tattooing than it may seem. Definitely more than the effort I put in waiting tables. If your artist was awesome, give them an awesome tip. If you were a pain, give them a more awesome tip.

The bathing thing is pretty funny. I imagine if everyone is mentioning it, a lot of people must not be doing it. I'm a total sissy so I avoid caffeine to cut down on the shakes. Hydrate and eat something high in protein but not too heavy. I usually bring a granola bar for a snack.

  8. I developed a phobia of pink skin on men.

This is the best thing I have ever read. I also kind of shudder at the sight of bare, pink skin on men. I think even worse than just one tattoo on men, is when large men have really tiny tattoos. There was a guy at my last gym who was just, gigantic. A body builder in tiny shorts and one of those hangy tank tops. He had a tattoo on his arm that was severely disproportionate. There is nothing less tough than that to me.

  9. These pass out stories are scaring the shit out of me. I've only ever passed out once, right after childbirth (which seems reasonable) but I still tend to take precautions like eating protein, being hydrated and not drinking caffeine that day. That just seems too embarrassing to risk. Those paramedics were douchebags, but what a good story!

  10. I suppose I haven't ever had much of a use for Yelp for tattoo artists, but I have definitely checked out shops on there just for fun. You get people who are angry about artists making suggestions, cost, pain, getting kicked out for being drunk, all kinds of fun stuff. I use it all the time to find places to eat, found a pretty great noodle house in the neighborhood. But for something as important as a tattoo, Yelp is really not the place.

  11. Ladies, don't worry, it ain't my tattoos that my husband's looking at....

Oh snap! That literally made me laugh out loud. I don't have any qualms with tattoos for kids. Marques had our daughters name under his chin and I was stoked on it. I like Dan Kersey's tattoo for Mara, I just don't know that I feel a need for one. I think at first I didn't do it because I was worried I would end up having a gang of kids and would feel obligated to get one for each of them.
