  1. Think of other images you like and consult with a stellar tattoo artist. Do you have any photos to post of your arm?
  2. Just catching up. It's good to see you back on here. And I'm sorry for what you are going through.
  3. Thank you, yes, we have to get that book! I wish I'd done it, too. When I saw her going out onto the floor, I wanted to jump in. They moved earlier this year. It's a great space. This kid is ready to rumble:
  4. We took our 7 year old daughter to a jr. roller derby practice on Weds to see if she might like it. She is so crazy about it she can't wait a whole week to go back. Will take her again tomorrow morning, before ballet class. So psyched the Derby Dolls moved into our neighborhood! Between this and her Friday after school program "Rock Star" where she's learning to play electric guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums, she's doing much cooler stuff than I did at her age.
  5. It's so sweet and adorable and beautiful, congratulations!!!
  6. Can't wait to see this tattoo! I don't have any advice on the area. We went to a sushi place up the street from our hotel that was pretty good, but I can't remember the name. While I was getting tattooed, @DJDeepFried took Stella to the children's museum, so, not really something your mom would probably be into. Sorry! :-)
  7. Kruseman does at least appear to be one of the more decent human beings. Have to say, I was happy for Duffy when she won that victorian challenge. This show, as sucky and annoying as it may be, is still one of our guilty pleasure shows...
  8. Research tattoo artists, find someone whose work you love...then bring your ideas in (or e-mail them). The artist will be able to help you make it all make sense together.
  9. Trixie Faux was the name I used when I sang in a fun little band called The Falsies (Boston late nineties). We were Trixie Faux, Cherry Faux, Candy Faux, and Sonny Faux...with an occasional guest sax player, Leftie. :) https://www.facebook.com/TheFalsies?fref=ts
  10. I wouldn't do anything to "pimp up" anything... but I would probably just cover that with something bigger and bolder.
  11. Oh, so it's like a workout?! We should all try it!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I don't know if you watch, but on shows like Ink Master I'm convinced the producers tell the "canvases" to cry, whine, and moan throughout their tattoos for the camera. I haven't gotten a tattoo in the spots that are supposed to be the most painful (like the ribs, etc.) but for me upper back, arms, and lower leg were all no problem. We all do have different pain tolerances I guess, but I agree with @Graeme, you have given birth 3x! Tattoos are lower on the pain scale. I love John Sultana's stuff, good choice!
  13. It's natural to worry about people looking down or gossiping...since that's something people seem to love to do. But there's something to be said for saying f-it and giving them something to talk about, too. Being yourself. Those who appreciate you for you are the keepers.
  14. Aside from all the monmons, I love this one by Jim Sylvia:
  15. hahaha famous last LST words...
  16. I typically like them to show. I wear tank tops most of the summer. Bought a couple of racerback tanks after getting my most recent tattoo back/shoulder blade area tattoo from Chris Conn. That lady is too lovely for nobody to see her! My co-workers and the parents of my students can see them when I'm off-duty. So far, I've gotten such a warm reception about them with parents I've become friends with, that I might roll up my sleeves a little more this year at work as well. The students always like them. @soraya, it sounds like maybe you're a little afraid of being judged. If people want to judge you, that's their problem. Then again, where I live I am not really a spectacle for being tattooed, and tattoos aren't shocking. Los Angeles is diverse and there are many of us illustrated types around here. Do you live in a small town?
  17. Hi, I don't think I really struggled with it, but I did change my mind about a colorful arm tattoo and ended up going with b & g for all of my arm tattoos. I like both colorful and b & g work, it was just what I could best picture on myself and what I lean toward aesthetically. Keep thinking it over and picturing it on yourself...maybe look through the gallery here for inspiration. Who will you be getting tattooed by?
  18. I wear a lot more long sleeve shirts now. Just to work though!
  19. ^ true, there's a reason I'm getting (the majority of) my tattoos in my forties. I couldn't afford this stuff when I was younger. I did have a desire for them, but I'm glad I waited as opposed to going cheap. It's for sure a want, not a need... like so many other things we buy in life. Clothing may be a need, but do I need 20 pairs of jeans? I seemed to think so at the times of purchase. If art is a luxury product so be it. Nothing to defend. We like art. We like a certain type of art, many types of art. Art rules!
