  1. Booked for my second tattoo in mid-January. Going with Christian Buckingham again at Revolt in Vegas. Will be black and gray realism with maybe just a bit of a single color. My first tattoo has healed very nicely and is almost done peeling I think, it's on my right calf and was done a few weeks ago on November 9th.
  2. OP - Seems like this tattoo is something that you have wanted for awhile.....and that everything is finally coming together on it. The artist that you booked has a solid portfolio imo, with some nice, clean, well executed work. Don't see any reason that you shouldn't just go for it. Some solid advice to you in this thread but you are the one who has to finally just do it. The price is the last thing you will remember from the experience anyway.
  3. Hello fellow Alaskan...... (I'm in Juneau).....I think the deposit is a big one for the size of work you are describing but it really depends more on their hourly rate imo. Just put a $200 deposit on my second tattoo last night which is one hours time for my artist (Vegas). My work will be 5hr so it's a small portion overall, maybe you just won't owe much if anything when it's done. Not sure how long you have been in Alaska but sometimes it's hard to convince folks you are a serious customer which could be why they asked for a significant deposit? At any rate good luck with the work and hope your trip goes well.

    TieFighter Pilot

My first tattoo......'Immer auf Ziel' translates 'Always on Target'
  5. Thanks LizBee.....extremely amateur yoga breathing is what got me through that first one, lol. When we finished it I wasn't sure there would be a second tattoo in my future but the pain was temporary and your exactly right, the finished product is definitely worth it!!
  6. Got my first tattoo a couple weeks ago.....4.5hr on right calf and it did hurt more than I expected, 3.5hr in could feel my body starting to say WTF?!! Scheduled my second tattoo for January and planning on another 4-5hr, this time on right upper chest. After reading posts here and knowing how interesting the calf was.....I'm a little worried if I can sit for it, but really do want it placed there. Yikes!!
  7. My artist used opaque gray in this Tie-Fighter Pilot. This is a large piece and the gray definitely helped to keep it from being too heavy. Whatever you decide.....good luck with it! http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/general-tattoo-discussion/15-latest-tattoo-lowdown-page838.html#post122496

    Hello,

No man, that thing is BOMB!! I like the style and it's even better because it had dual purpose for you. Doubt anything too realistic would have given you the coverage you wanted.....but that's a little hard to say cause not sure what the spots looked like prior. Looks great to me at this point though. And it really only matters what you think.
  9. Wow....Lollie's work looks bomb!! I'm a newb and will be getting my first piece in 2 weeks at Revolt in Vegas, 6-ish hours on right calf. Buckingham is my artist.
  10. WOW! That skull tune-up is amazing!! Really like what he was able to do with that, congrats.
  11. LOL @ mtlsam......great advice there man, and I was only talking the confidence to go in and sit down! Have no idea what it will really be like but will be well rested and fed, and have been reading about this technique and that - definitely will focus on breathing like The Tig mentioned too. I'm flying from Juneau, Alaska to Las Vegas to have the art done.....so I did purchase an additional ticket for January in case I can't get it done all at once, a little 'reverse-murphy' action.....LOL.
  12. I always have traveled with whatever cash I need for that trip, sometimes a few grand. I just stash it in my room and when I have to carry a large sum it goes in my boot, LOL.
  13. I am scheduled for my first piece in a couple weeks and have made the deposit and been estimated 5+ hours and the artist is $200/hr. Plan to take some sort of small gift from here in Alaska and then probably will tip 15% or so. Just hop that I can sit that long, will be on my right calf so thinking it will be OK.
  14. @Dan.....That is a killer piece! Great layout and very nice color, I like that a lot.
  15. Will be getting my first tattoo on my right calf.....hope it isn't too bad but will be several hours. These posts are helping build my confidence for it, lol.
  16. I'm only a new member and 'collector'.....but looking forward to seeing some great art here.
  17. Hi....it will be done by Buckingham at Revolt in Vegas. Still working on the art.
  18. I'm new here too....welcome and hope to see pics of your new work.
  19. That's really cool. I fly down and visit my brother in Vancouver, WA quite often. Love Portland man, great city!!
