  1. Welcome! You're off to a great start, lots of rad tattoos. I also have an upside down rose because of the way it would fill the spot
  2. @heathenist I was mesmerized by that one on Instagram this morning. Should I be surprised it's on an LSTer?
  3. Welcome to LST! Got any pictures? Without seeing the one you want to cover I think the only reasonable suggestion is to have Mike Wilson put a panther on it.
  4. About to head down the road to the Summit Tattoo Invitational, picking up a little something from Mr. Lehi! Roommate is tagging along and is gonna try to score a walk up with Myles Karr.
  5. @blackdots that will be rad, I went in with a couple ideas, we talked about it for a minute and he got it drawn up in like 20 minutes. He put a rose/eagle morph on my forearm.
  6. Some tattooers are good with email, others aren't. I've usually had better luck picking up the phone and calling the shop to set something up, or if you're nearby just walk in and see what's up.
  7. @blackdots awesome! Jeff is a great dude, hope I can see him when I'm back in the mitten over the summer. What are you getting?
  8. I do think that type of image would translate better to a tattoo than what you had previously shown us. I'd say keep researching tattooers, look at millions of pictures of tattoos, just by seeing volumes of the type of work that's out there you can get a better idea of what you're into. Read around this forum, there's tons of information to absorb, learn everything you can. Your ribs are a big area and you can fit a big stunning piece there, if it's your first, maybe only tattoo, you're going to want the best that you can get. Maybe you'll have to travel, but there are a lot of talented tattooers in the Netherlands for you to check out, so maybe not. Interesting that you mention Adrain Lee, his work looks really nice but it doesn't seem to mesh stylistically with what you seem to be looking for, I'm sure he could kill an ocean themed piece but what I see on his front page seems different than that.
  9. Welcome to LST! I feel like I'm echoing a few people here but this really is a refreshing perspective for an intro thread. Keep at it
  10. Yeah it was such a whirlwind trip last time I was down, and it was raining the whole time so I didn't see much of the city outside my hotel room and the shop. ROA is a beautiful shop though, have fun!
  11. @Shaun1105 there's an Indian restaurant a couple doors down from ROA that Chad recommended to me that I was planning on checking out next time I'm there, I was just in a hurry and not in the mood for curry so I got chipotle next door.
  12. I can kinda see what you're going for with those pictures but honestly if you didn't say ocean I would have thought desert, and this is on a screen, not a round, moving piece of skin. If I wanted a big rib piece that reminded me of the ocean I would get a big sea creature surrounded by fingerwaves. You said you aren't really into traditional american tattoos so maybe look at some japanese artwork and go from there.
  13. @el twe thanks, we're stoked! I'm excited to see hers settle down and the details pop a bit, the spiderweb he put in the bottom wing is going to look great healed. Glad I finally got my first elbow out of the way, that blank space was starting to bother me.
  14. The lady and I went down to Dedication Tattoo for their 2 year anniversary party yesterday, they had a huge sheet of designs to choose from drawn up by them and their guests for the day and we had a lot of fun just getting spontaneous tattoos and hanging out at the shop. Bryce Operandi put a rose on my elbow, and she got a butterfly girl head from CJ Fishburn. CJ talked her into doing black and gray and I think it looks rad. Elbow wasn't as miserable as I expected either so that's a bonus.
  15. Emily Rose Murray? If memory serves, she is down your way and would knock a piece like that out of the park
  16. I mostly listen to comedy related podcasts with a side of nerdy information, here's what I listen to when I draw and/or lay in bed restlessly (yay insomnia!) The Nerdist: 3 nerdy comedians (Chris Hardwick, Jonah Ray and Matt Mira) discuss comedy, pop culture, and all things nerdy. The first 60ish episodes all have special guests, comedians, actors, musicians, etc. after that they started doing an extra episode each week with just the hosts, so they still have guests all the time, but also talk amongst themselves. Very funny, and it can give you a different look at "show business" The Cracked Podcast: List based comedy website, Cracked, in podcast form! These guys are hilarious and very well researched for each weeks subject, they also nerd out about comedy, but they also have discussions on just a whole bunch of cool topics that I enjoy hearing new perspectives on. Scroll through the episode list and see if any topics pique your interest, I'm sure after a couple you'll want to go through and hear them all. Unpopular Opinion: Adam Tod Brown, another Cracked writer has his own podcast, he's a huge dick and all the comments on his articles are pretty much hating on him. I think he's the perfect kind of sarcastic asshole so I like listening once in a while. SMODCAST: Kevin Smith and Scott Mosher chatting it up about making movies together, life, and comics. The Thrilling Adventure Hour! This is a comedy show in LA in the form of an old timey radio show, it's recorded live, they have different comedians and actors on most episodes, and they act out a number of different scenes. Funny stuff. Welcome to Night Vale: This show is fantastic. A radio show played in the form of community updates in a fictional desert town called Night Vale. The dark, twisted, weird, Lovecraftian goings on in this mysterious place will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you ignore all my other suggestions, just listen to this, it's awesome. All hail the glow cloud!
  17. Working on getting something set up for the Summit convention in a couple weeks, don't wanna jinx it so I'll leave it at that for now. After that I'll go back to concentrating on finishing my torso with Chad.
  18. Thanks for the heads up, I don't consider myself edge really due to my past but I am going on 4 years sober. I'm always looking for new podcasts too so thanks
  19. I like Better Call Saul so far, only thing I've been watching much of lately
  20. Welcome to LST! Any pictures to share? I'd like to see what you got from Lehi
  21. Jason Colehour, Lifetime Tattoo Denver Last Friday my girl and I drove down and got some walk ins, I got this fun filler, she got a panther. Fun times
  22. @polliwog thanks, I love how it's coming together, you're right, having my whole torso whip shaded was... An experience. The way I see it though is well, tattoos hurt, and after working on this for a bit no session on my arm for example can scare me! Hah
