  1. @TrixieFaux, I was going to say get a lady head cuz lady heads are awesome to begin with and Chris Conn lady heads are the best you can get, but whatever you do get, you know it will be unbelievable. But I still have hope you do decide to get a lady head. Ha ha.
  2. @SeeSea, I remember during one past session, the Shop mentioned that people were no longer allowed to go into the work space unless they were being tattooed. It was a City ordenance rather than a shop rule. That said they may be cool if your mom popped her head in for a couple minutes. As for me? Yeah Monmon cats or cat heads in the arm pits. Actually it's the only space left. My torso down to my thighs is reserved. That leaves only my hands, neck, arm pits, and my lower left leg open. I'm kind of keen on leaving my neck and hands un-tattooed, and for whatever oddness, kind of like wanting to leave my lower leg open too. Hmm, I suppose I could get the lower part of my front done "gobu" style where inner thighs are open. I could then get him to do my inner thighs perhaps. But hey, if Beaux Brady can get his arm pit done by Horitomo and survive, I can hope to do so too! Ha ha!
  3. After I got tattooed some of the white in my paired monon cat feet tattoos didn't heal up well, since instead of relaxing after the trip up (as intended), I came home to a car that broke down and required me to run around town to get it fixed. Fast forward to this past SFO convention, I ran into Horitomo, and he asked to check them out. After looking at them for a bit, he offered to touch them up for me. Very cool of him! I finally contacted the shop this past week and I'll be back up in August. And since I'm going up again, I scheduled a consult to get more monon cats! I must be the totally crazy cat person with no cats. I'm scared though. Arm pits. Aw f*ck me!!! @SeeSea, you are totally going to enjoy yourself when you go up. Horitomo's station is a raised platform in one of the corners at the shop and it's filled with his amazing sketches. A really cool experience. @peaceridge, I agree with the other posts. Keep trying and be patient. Sometimes timing is off but if you're persistent it will happen. It initially took me 2 or 3 months to get into contact with my regular artist just because at the time I tried to set something up there were a lot of conventions/guestings/trips going on with the artist.
  4. THIS!!!!!!! - - - Updated - - - And THIS too!!!!!!! Or dragon sleeve and ho-o sleeve? I didn't ask for it but Horitomo gave me a a double yin yang - ish pair of Monmon cat tattoos on my feet. Each cat sleeping in the opposite direction of ones other with tattooed snakes doing the flip flop swirl. I just wanted a tattoo from him, it was his design choice. Genius! Which also brings up talking about the idea with an artist. They'll do you right.
  5. Bwa ha ha ha! LA? Walkable? Ha ha ha! I'm crying @beez ...ssssigh. Actually, you're in luck @embers. The shop is near "Vermont". That street is full of restaurants to park yourself at and have a bite and pint. Or the Scientology building off Sunset isn't too far away either if that's your thing ;-) Oh and if you have a car, Spotlight Tattoo is an easy drive from where you will be.
  6. Nice! What are you getting from him? I used to live about 10 minutes from the shop before they moved. It was/is always a temptation to go there.
  7. @BrianH, that's looking awesome so far! Keep the updates coming.
  8. Well done @exume! Lehi Tigers. Nope can't go wrong at all.
  9. @rufio, if you like the geometry/topography, closest thing I can think of is some of the stuff on the IG profile below. https://instagram.com/dotstolines/
  10. Looking good @MoistTowelette!!! You've got some great artists working on your torso. And they all blend in and work so well too.
  11. Wow! If I were him I'd write a scathing Yelp review! Okay in seriousness though, it really sucks that stuff like this happens but I'm also not surprised it actually does happen.
  12. Butta, butta, butta, ...BUTT SNAKE! Pow! Bam! Kersmash! Awesome snake @beez! That portion is by Shad right? Can't wait to see it all tied together with all of Junii's work. And happy to see Chuck doing well.
  13. Jill Bonny has my vote! She's done both my arms and back.
  14. @khubilai, Don't take this as gospel as I can't be absolutely sure of the details having heard this years ago but I vaguely remember the shop I go to once did a children's "tattoo" thing for a community festival. I remember one of the guys doing a practice one on himself to see how they'd come out with the ink or paint he was using. I remember asking why they didn't just use sharpies, figuring it would be easier and they could create more intricate images the little ones would go nuts over. If the kids wanted to get rid of it they could just wash it off with a hearty scrub (Silly me, not thinking that perhaps they wouldn't want the temp tattoos stuck on for days and days). Anyway, I believe their response was about not being able to use it due to allergies or skin reactions to the ink. I remember being a bit surprised because I've never had reactions so had no idea people could have issues with it.
  15. Ha ha @Cork! You do know, I am in the "Perseverance" book, right? I should get around and post a pic here though. BTW, really cool "lady parts" being posted so far by all. @TrixieFaux, fist bump on the all black and grey. And I think @DJDeepFried needs to find himself a sleeveless suit too. - - - Updated - - - Ha ha @Cork! You do know, I am in the "Perseverance" book, right? 16. @Cork, I hear you! You may be right too. Afterall, who'd want to be the other "Horiyoshi". Ha ha! Thanks for the link @beez. I've been following his work on IG. I like the legibility. Both are def cool.
  17. I'm not sure I get what your talking about but I'll hazard a response. Yes there's Horitoshi I that we all know. There's also a Bunshin Horitoshi. 2 different artists and differing styles. I don't think it's a case of the latter trying to make himself being thought of as being THE Horitoshi. It's just a name. "Hori" being the usual prefix. The latter half usually being part of the person's name. In this case "Toshi". "Bunshin", may be something added to further identify that artist from others. Just a guess. A little different, but not unlike "Gifu" Horihide, "Asakusa" Horiyasu, "Yokohama" Horiken. In those instances, they've added locations as part of their names to distinguish themselves. I know there's also another Horiken in Japan. Also a Horizakura, other than the one from The Horitoshi Family too. There's actually 2 Horitakas in California come to think of it. One from State Of Grace and the other at Onizuka Tattoo, who's part of the Horitoshi Family. I don't think there's any disrespect in any of these cases. They're just names each is entitled to. It just happens that's the way each name played out and in this case one Horitoshi is perceived to be more well known than the other. It does not always make it easy on potential clients however when there are artists around with the same names.
  18. @falco4758, based on the screen captures posted check out Aimee Cornwell from the UK. Her IG is @aimeecornwelltattoo.
  19. Congratulations @Cork! Now that's a back piece.
  20. Those are some crazy good sleeves. I love how Horitomo layered the atmosphere and dragon/ho-o on the back of your arms. Nice depth.
  21. @Pugilist, I have to give extra support to a Jill Bonny shoutout. I'm biased of course. And absolutely, the other artists you listed are also amazing. The couple I'm unfamiliar with will definitely get a web search from me tonight.
  22. @TrixieFaux, the only way to find out if you're reading too much into it, is to get a Tomo tattoo and see what he does next. Sound reasoning, right?
