  1. Easy jet flights are very cheap for that weekend flying from Gatwick
  2. Thanks, like I said I am not on Facebook but I do appear to be able to see their page. Cant "like" it but will continue to check it for updates.
  3. After enjoying the London Convention so much I have just booked plane tickets to fly out to Milan for the convention in February. Does anyone know where I can find an artist list, or is anyone aware of who will be tattooing as I can't find any info a the moment. I am keen to try and get an appointment set up with someone so it would be great to know who might be going so I can get in contact. I am not on Facebook and the convention website currently seems rather vague, I am assuming it will be updated nearer the time.
  4. Thanks very much. Yeah Henning is such an awesome guy and it was indeed his first Hyottoko ever. Really was such a great experience getting tattooed there with Kevin Leblanc tattooing beside Henning and my local tattooer Richard Pinch in the booth too.
  5. I got this from the wonderful Henning jørgensen at the London Convention yesterday: It's safe to say I am very happy with it. Very.
  6. Sounded a bit more like an Aberdonian brogue to me maybe?
  7. I am travelling down to London for the convention this year. Only other convention I have ever been to is the the Brighton convention which I believe is a bit smaller. Really looking forward to it as the line up of Artists looks awesome. Getting tattooed by Henning Jorgenson on the Saturday evening. Should be a good weekend.
  8. Just confirmed my appointment with Henning Jørgensen for the London Convention. Getting a Hyottoko. Can't frickin wait!
  9. I am big fan of the rewrapping approach. I keep the tattoo covered for 48 hours. Every 4 hours the tattoo gets washed with medical grade soap, dried and the cling film goes back on (no cream etc.). After two days I unwrap it and wash it twice a day, applying a special bees wax based ointment my tattooer gives me if necessary. Works a treat. No scabbing and just very minimal peeling. The one tattoo I didn't do this way scabbed like a bastard and will need retouched in future. I suppose the healing process is very subjective and will differ from person to person but for me, the difference between rewrapping and not is night and day.
  10. Richard Pinch. Aberdeen, Scotland. There is still background to go, rocks and flowers etc. looks a bit distorted in the photo.
  11. Not photos per se but images from a book from 1671 (thats pretty old. My wife is an early modern literature nerd and found these photos on a blog (resobscura.blogspot.co.uk). THey come from an article on Brazilians by some Dutch dude: (Following text and photos nicked from said blog so not mine). "Europeans were also fascinated and fearful of the "monstrous" forms of indigenous Brazilians themselves. Although most accounts remarked upon the good health, longevity and physique of Tupí Indians and other indigenous societies in Brazil (probably a reflection more of the poor health and diet of the European mariners than anything else), others focused on their tendency toward body-modification. The most entertaining and strange European take on piercing and tattooing I have been able to find is John Bulwer's fantastically titled Anthropometamorphosis: Man Transform’d, or the Artificial Changeling. Historically presented, in the mad and cruel Gallantry, foolish Bravery, ridiculous Beauty, filthy Fineness, and loathesome Loveliness of most Nations, fashioning & altering their Bodies from the Mould intended by Nature. With a Vindication of the Regular Beauty and Honesty of Nature, and an Appendix of the Pedigree of the English Gallant. (London: J. Hardesty, 1650). (I wrote about this a bit in an earlier post). Below he describes how "the Brasileans... are pricked within the flesh" with paint." "Bulwer's title page takes this a step further, showing an Amerindian figure sporting some truly remarkable tattoos! The European woman with facial tattoos to the figure's left highlights Bulwer's concern that this "barbarous" custom would become fashionable with his own countrymen (he was right, but it would take another three hundred years or so to really catch on, and the whole "face on a butt" tattoo fad seems to still lie in the future)." Interesting eh?
  12. This one? David by Richard Pinch, Aberdeen - Colour Tattoo | Big Tattoo Planet Richard just finished my foo dog on my back yesterday. Will put some pics up soon. I am mega happy with it.
  13. Mike Rubendall Richard Pinch Henning Jorgensen Stewart Robson Chris O'Donnell Filip Leu Horimatsu
  14. Got this little inner biceps number from the most excellent Mr Stewart Robson at the Brighton Convention yesterday: I am exceedingly happy with it. Cheers Stewart.
  15. There seems to be quite a correlation between face tattoos and big stretched earlobes.
  16. I think this is a particularly excellent example of a facial tattoo: But seriously.....what was he thinking?
  17. I have been an observer of this forum for a few months now but this thread compelled me to register and actually post. I too have heard and read many time about how difficult Richard Pinch is supposed to be but my experience of him could not be further from that. I found him friendly and I could not be happier with the work he did on me. So much so that I will be back imminently for several more hours of his company as he he has drawn me an awesome fu dog that is soon to be on my back. I also think it is brilliant that if you really want to get tattooed by him you don't need to make an appointment months in advance. All you have to do is get up early...really early. I was outside his shop at about 7.15am the other day and went home as there was already so many people there waiting. Overly chatty he is not, but bloody good tattoos he does do! I know whats more important to me. Good forum by the way...
