liuk3 got a reaction from rufio in What do you use?
Is it me, but after reading all the differing opinions on aftercare of a new tattoo, it seems like it doesn't matter what you do except to just keep it clean and wash it everyday? Some say use this ointment or that ointment, this lotion or that lotion, and some profess nothing at all and just dry heal. Seems like if you aren't a total idiot about it, the tattoo is going to heal over time if you just keep it clean? So many conflicting views and opinions on the subject.

I see so many posts here about religious parents.Dont assume they all hate tattoos.I am a religious parent.I have three kids,I teach an adult Bible study class, and I have many tattoos. There are worse things than being tattooed.Jesus still loves us all.

sleep on it now. just don't let whatever is stuck to it in the morning pull off/out any of the scabbing. soak it just long enough for the cloth or bandage to fall away.

Welcome. When I was getting my back done there were nights after sessions when I slept on my back because I don't like sleeping on my side or front and things turned out fine. The only issue I encountered was my shirt sticking to the fresh tattoo but jumping in the shower and soaking the shirt until it would come off without pulling on the fresh tattoo did the trick. Go with what's most comfortable for you.
