  1. My first was done when I was 18 by a guy who had no reputation other than being an airbrush artist and tattooed as well. Real old school shit (not the best quality sadly) but I didn't know any better and didn't look around, handed him a reference and said I want a half sleeve. Thankfully he only did the front half, but unfortunately it was shit quality with heavy purple that was hard to rework. It's been reworked by another guy and connected to the inner bicep and looks bearable, but the purple was too hard to rework so it's still obvious to me. The anatomys a little off too, but whatever you live and learn. Side note: in 7th grade me and a friend thought it'd be cool carve " I (heart) (girlfriends name)" into our skin. Mines on my hand, it's barely visible, but it makes me laugh. I'm still close friends with that girl too. Man, we were (are) retarded.
  2. I was in the chair across the room so I didn't hear it, but the guy tattooing her came over and told us. Funny shit though
  3. Appt set with megan fernandez in a couple of weeks. Finally get to offset the symmetry of having both shins done, merry xmas to me
  4. That's true, you gotta learn some how. Unfortunately my first tattoo was big and can't be covered, but it has been reworked and I get a heap of compliments on it now, but there are areas that I look at constantly that bug me. It's been all uphill since though so I can't complain. Yea it bugs me when price is even mentioned as a concern in relation to a good artist/tattoo. You're not paying for something that'll just be replaced next year. But it's not me or my body so it's not my problem. Haha, that probably explains why they make 30 pack keystones available to go along with their cheap tattoos
  5. My first tattoo wasn't the best so I bite my tongue typically, but living in a tourist town you see more than a handful of shit tattoos during spring break. Sadly enough, people are more interested in cheap tattoos rather than quality and would pay for shit just to have a tattoo. Side note: why is it that people without tattoos feel the need to tell you all their prospective tattoo plans out of the blue once they see yours?

I just like the more tactical aspect of battlefield, not to mention I get to fly a mothefucking jet

I haven't picked it up yet, but I don't know if I will since I got Battlefield 3. It's da bomb
  8. I've gotten nothing but good feedback so far from the most unsuspecting people. My dermatologist (oddly enough) always says good whenever he sees a new one. Before working in a hospital, I figured it'd be a lot of negative feedback from the older folks, but it's been nothing but compliments and good conversation starters for some.
  9. Yea it seems odd to have a tattoo that doesn't show, but I guess everyone is different. A girl I know got a glow in the dark and it follows kind of the same thought. But honestly how many places are you gonna go that has a blacklight -_-
  10. I've got a poseidon scene going on my right arm and have pondered the idea of finishing it out as a full sea scene, but a thought occured would it look weird if I just kept it a half sleeve and got random pieces on my forearm? Also, what are your thoughts of one artist doing half and another finishing the other half. Would this be something another artist wouldn't touch or it doesn't matter since at least it's a completed tattoo
  11. "yea it's a hibiscus, now show me yours" Adding that to the list of lines to try..
  12. IMG_0248 « one foot in the grave Yea lol either way it doesn't matter to me, I was just curious from an artists point of view because I've seen em done in so many different ways.
  13. I've read a couple threads on the subject of roses and I'm just curious, do you guys feel there's a right or wrong way to draw or tattoo them? I've seen some really in depth roses and then there's the simpler looking traditional ones with less pedal Reason I ask is because I've got a traditional rose on my arm with stem and a girl in class asked me if it was a hibiscus (in a snooty attitude like "whys that on your arm") which I guess it's not a realistic rose, but rather representational which is how the artist put it. I apologize if this is a dumb question or anything.
  14. After seeing this, I thought the same thing. I wants a reapperrrr
  15. If anyone works in the medical career or know anybody that does, what's been the general experience with visible tattoos? I'm in my 2nd to last semester of x-ray school, and the ones on my upper arm don't seem to be an issue even though they show, but I'm still weary of doing any forearm tattoos any time soon
  16. I like the idea of unplanned tattoos. The ones I've gotten so far have had planning and a little more thought, but I really enjoy the thrill of seeing what's drawn up. I plan on doing this on the next couple unless of course the artist would rather have an idea first.
  17. Oh man, some good stories here. Living in spring break central (panama city, fl) it's always fun to people watch while getting tattooed and hearing the crazy ideas and outraged voices when they hear what a good tattoo will cost. Last tattoo I got, was talking to a mom and her kids during a break and she was about to get a sand dollar on her foot. All you could hear was her screaming the whole time and got so panicked, she farted. Awkwarddd
  18. Yea shane was a super cool dude, it was a pleasure getting tattooed by him. Same with darren. I'm just waiting to get tattooed by megan because I want her to do some forearm pieces, but I'm still uncertain about touching that spot until I graduate. No clue yet, kind of a blind venture. I just know pay is awesome, and the choice of location is mine so i'm thinking texas and probably the west coast. I've only lived in Alabama/Florida, I've got much to see.
  19. Plague Doctor - plague doctor and rat « one foot in the grave Rose of no mans land type deal - IMG_0248 « one foot in the grave Medusa on shin - darren madusa1 « one foot in the grave Other shin - There ya go Lochlan, I don't have any good ones of my other half sleeve. Hopefully soon I can get some.
  20. Yea sure thing, Lochlan. Most of them are posted under the one foot in the grave blog bigjoe posted, but whenever I get home from clinical I'll be sure to get pics up. I'll most definitely take before and after pics, although it may be a while and I'm still considering my options. It's really not that bad, just something that I always notice. Glad to have found this site, I'm really the only one who's real into tattoos out of my friends (oddly enough) so it'll be nice to chat with everyone and learn even more.
  21. At first I thought tattoos had to be about specific meaning and I'm sure it holds true for some, but the more I get into it, I just want good shit done by worthy artists. It gets tiring when someone's like "why do you have a rose on your arm" or "what's that skull and panther mean" When I travel, I kinda see it as a timestamp and taking a little piece of the places I travel with me.
  22. Yea man, I was gonna mention them. Darrens done my right and left arm half sleeves and one on my shin. Shane woodward from the shop where megan used to work did my other shin. I've talked to megan about doing some pieces on the rest of my arm and a possible chest piece. I love her stuff. My first tattoo was the front of my half sleeve and was done by a guy who doesn't work at that shop anymore, not really my style and his ink was cheap so it faded bad and there's no real depth. Darren reworked a good bit of it when did the underside and connected, but I feel like the only saving it is getting a few spots lasered to make it easier to rework. I learned my lesson quick about being ignorant with the artist.
  23. Hey guys, I'm james. I'm from panama city, florida. I'm joining to keep a look out for great artists to get tattooed by when I travel. I'm in the medical field and hoping to sign on to a travel co. when I graduate and hopefully pick up some cool pieces along the way. Also, joined to ask about lasering whenever I get my post count up.
