  1. this is just my opinion. the guys so called rip off was wrong and clearley cheeky by passing it off with his name emblazened across it . maybe he should of put homage to v. vargas at the bottom would that have helped. he cant win either way . say he had done it line for line . every crisp detail and colour n shading he still would of been dug out. im by no means defending him . but as as another member said it was tattooed well. if a little bit cruder and not much detail hanging off the earlobes. but fk sake people need to lighten up. people are carrying on like hes the son of gaddafi whos just nuked half of the known civilized world. its right a phone call would be cool . but there are many images banded about with much cruder interpretations of what this guys done. surely like celebs that get hacked off being pursued by the paps. they put there selves out there to b photographed and idolised, so must tattoo fans and artists that put there art out on the world wide wait. knowing that there are people wanting the same design line for line or wont take no for an answer. maybe thats when tattooists

shud step in and say no and not be lazy in reproducing great pieces of art. as for some artists being lazy and not wanting to grow creatively. how ironic my posting was deleted saying such things not 3 weeks ago. now anyone for tea?

  2. Hi

ive been reading the tattoo mags since the early 90s and some of the black n grey whispey portrait stuff have been so light n crisp and amazing. from the old school guys

that are still pushing the craft today. btbh some iv seen of the same tattoo only a few yrs later im not talking 20yrs have been so faded n non existent and needed rebooting so to speak. i think when some artists do a design or portrait they want it the same tones when its finished without thinking of the fall out % what will occur when it heals . and dont compensate by overshading slightly.

i agree with the organic colourfull stuff too . where that can look just a mush of nothing defined after a few years. even some of the real colourfull comic fantasy stuff inspired by the media n movies and books iv seen recently thats been so brite n realistic. that even after a year can look a bit tired . maybe its the inks or application. i remember a guy saying in a magazine he was very good by the way .said he always over boosted his colours to compensate for the yrs to come and use thicker lines so that it can be seen across a room without having to explain what he had on his arm. but a pastel wash will always have a place. but overall the quality and longevity of whats being put out everyday is still cutting edge and pushing the bounderies technically and artisticley compared to walk in cave studios of 12000 bc. when a sabertooth

walked in for a cave dweller inked on his paw lol

  3. I usually think its best to get your tattooer to source great reference material.

Most of us (tattooers) spend a great deal of time/money/effort collecting source material or information for our tattoos.

Some of us even do it away from the internet.

But in the interests of not poo-pah-ing a discussion: Try searching the internet for reference material that ISNT a tattoo. Adding the term 'tattoo' to a google search is like initiating a shit-filter where it only delivers the worst possible images.

    Good luck.

    Hell i couldnt agree more.

the owner of this poor dog spent 2yrs teaching him to talk .and the first words the dog said was. dont u ever cut my hair like this again.

  4. romanesco, it's like delicious fractal green cauliflower

good god i thought guy aitcheson had posted one of his paintings on the food blog. te he he.

the girl has just made a rhubarb pie . 32inches long x2inches wide . even after begging her to cut it up.

  5. Hi

i like the guest ales they offer in our local witherspoons. with the odd names like bishops mangled todger or hellfiremindwarp lol. does anyone like the cider they do now

like magners the popular irish fizzy homogonized wee. lol its made with 23 different varietys of apple. fuck that exclusive . i think it covers them if any poor sod wants to sue them if they have a dodgey tummy and wants to know where the apples came from. real cider is well strong.and on a different planet . i was in a pub in rugby a few weeks back that does all home brew stuff . i politely asked if they had something tall thin and full of vodka to which the barmaid pointed and said you can take that skinny old blonde in the corner .. after i stopped laughing the first thing they ask is do u want to walk out like a crab on on all 4s or would u like the mild brew. erm the toxic gear plz my friend said. well this gloop looked like a pimped up gatorade lol. it looked awfull and cloudy and smelt like a cow shed in the middle of july. all that was missing was a rats tail floating in it but tasted devine in a sick macarbe

way. we had a few and it was slightly cold but not chilled. thats how we have it here the barmaid mumbled inbetween smoking her chalk pipe. oh ok we said. and carried on glugging until we finished our brew

and we did leave uprite if at a slight angle. as we passed the locals in the corner playing a wicked tune on there jam jars and stringed box instruments under a bloodied pentagram on the ceiling . then into the cold night air looking over our shoulders at the full moon

  6. Hi firstley i like to cook my own stuff as my girl is pretty useless .

i bought her a microwave in the summer and said now u can screw my food up in a minute and a half.

but she has always had a good head for money. she has a slot just above the hairline.

i made some muesli the other morning. fxxk thats like kitty litter with sultanas lol

herbal tea who likes that. thats an aquired taste t say the least.

i like a nice steak well done. jacket potato and some green stuff. come on we cant all be salad dodgers.

the thing is our weight is normally worked out by our height. by my calculations i should be 7ft2

  7. HI my experience here in the burbs is not so much galleries n tea shop/ coffee shops wanting artists to work there its people that have tyre shops n salvage yards that have got a spare shop front n cash that open up tattoo shops with not little but no idea of the the art or creative side and what goes into running a good customer driven shop. just to earn some extra cash as a side line. that fxxxs me right off.

  8. Hi leokraft

geez . them flash sheets they had in the 80s catalogues was fuckin scary. was they all constructed by one guy ted nayden i think. did huck slip him something in his coffee when he wasnt looking lol. he must of had some sleepless nights with that zoned out shit bouncing round his nogging . give me j.d. crow torture any day of the week.

  9. Fast is not always good! And I think you can tell when stuff has really been busted on quickly, but having said that I am a big fan of confident looking tattooing it should not turn into a dick contest!

Eddy D was by far the fastest I have been tattooed by with Chris Conn being the slowest also Jack Rudy certainly took his time but would not trade the overall experience.

i totally agree fast isnt good unless its solid with crisp lines. this guy who had a shop told me his claim to fame was he tattoed a bulldog design in eleven minutes and got it into some dog poo record book. and he was quite proud too. the idiot . bet it had 3 legs lol

  10. just thought id ask does any tattooist use them flexie lights u can buy off fleabay that look like a cross between the war of the worlds probe thingy and a snap on tool attachment . they look to me cumbersome and awkard making it top heavy. to me it seems like using a scalple and then taping a maglite to the top of it. or are they being used in vast numbers.

  11. Hi from the newbie. god theres so many talented tattoists on here. here goes. the first design was a rough sketch i did for a guy who wanted some comical skulls in various sizes and expressions. he liked it but wasnt sure about the tribal to which i said il refine it more and add instead some kind of spinal type tribal instead leading off at the bottom . il post tatt when he has it done in a few weeks time.

  12. Hi i worked in a shop only part time where u expect the owner/ tattooist knew his thing this guy clearley didnt. he couldnt draw. was not artistic in any sense of the word. his lines were wobbly at the best of times. he just wanted the money . which is cool but when u put no feedback into the customers hard earned cash is eye wateringly piss taking.

i brought in referance books drawings n flash. all he could do was eat. and count the cash at the end of the day. the tight fuck even had the cheek to try and autoclave used ink caps to save money. fkin unreal . i left shortley after a few weeks thank fuck.

  13. Hi i personally like just the visual books. not that i cant read. just like not to get bogged down sometimes with all the kerfufal.

it could be just me being lazy. i remember buying ed hardys tattoo times. eagerly thumbing thru the pages. they was in thin soft backcovers in a few different coloured volumes.

seeing the old timers. like gregg irons jack rudy. and many others.also chris wablowskis few books. im sure thats spelt wrong lol. this was a time when i think the only mags i saw was outlaw biker on the stand . eeek . how times have changed . there are so many mags now fighting for ur attention its eyewateringly difficult to choose from. im goin off on a tangent. as for refrence material i used to buy books with the odd design that i liked so wastefull . iv used comics for refrence material n ideas . lol but i might look on amazon for some new titles to have a look at . the web has opened up so much positives regarding ideas and inspiration. which i think is a good thing. but like mp3 downloads have wiped out real vinyl u still like to handle and feel a record in real time n not virtually. so must real books outway images on an i pad to some degree .

  14. HI. i totally agree with the wise bit. and opening doors thru into a fountain of knowledge. and keys with love hearts. but i saw a tattoo in a mag last week.

had the sweetest owl perched on a branch with a base ball cap on with the words thug across the front. i nearley choked on my cornflakes pmsl . it was so subtle yet

funny to see. now is that owl representing all thats wrong and messed up in this society or just a giggle and light hearted . me thinks the latter.

  15. Hi from the newbie. i really like the piece. was it done over a period or all more or less in a short space of time. and did he ave much input into the lay out.

its so nice when they give u free reign to do ur thang. and trust in ur judgment of lay out n colours. i love the guy in the little pod. reminds me of the day the earth stood still. with a mix of iron giant. and ur own twist on all cosmic interpretations. plz post more .

  16. hi . i saw some killer praying hands dont know who did them but they was in a suite with flame tatts on the wrists. also the handcuffed versions are pretty cooltoo. it always reminds me of the naughty catholic goins on,

i love the chain link added. hey it cud start a trend. say a doctor could have a stephascope added or say a soldier with dog tags . or maybe im being a dumbass lol. nice ink tho

from what i could see from ur phone pic.

  17. its not so much requests its bts of drawn stuff they bring to the table. i did some tribal and drew it all up from scratch and it really looked well and run along the lines of his upper arm and flowed really well . then he brought a piece of paper that had a love heart with a swirl off the top of one side then he said can i have that included . talk about spanner in the works. lol i re drew it to fit in but it just looked clunky but he wasnt goin to take no for an answer so i did it and he was plzd but i wasnt happy personally. i to love to realize peoples ideas and insight what they want in there design. and spend a lot of time in research and drawing and tweeking so there well happy with what i come up with. and 99.9 % of the time they are . but ul always get someone who wants it altered again n again. or a different colour lay out. i think sometimes giving to much choice to the client can hinder the magic.

  18. hi. i like ed hardy old school panthers. or the whispy style of brian everetts. is that guy still around. there are so many good panthers heads about. with the daggers going in at all angles. or the crazy snarling versions.with there eyes rolling round there head . thats just me lol.

i saw a neat panthers head on the www.it had like a hand hanging out of its mouth. i do like a twist on an old faithfull design.

  19. hi . this is not so much a nightmare more breathtakingley fucked up, there was a tattooist who opened up in a town not far from me who was doing just walkings. no custom stuff. he marked a load of people but his colours just seemed not to sit right on the skin. and gettin alot of comebacks over this and eventually the enviromental people got involved and it came to light the guy was using food colouring from a grocery store near by. fukin betty crocker ink lol with a side of mayo after care lotion.

  20. i think women can take more pain to a degree. but for me the the chest must rate as being very painfull .i was told once after tattooing some orientel piece around a guys chest n nipple he said it felt like his nipple was being removed lol. but he did also find the front of his shin really painfull too. and this guy was 16 stone solid. me personally the pain is ok in a bearable way. not brave enough yet for some neck work.
