I have a neo traditional Freddie Mercury portrait on my left calf - still fresh in the pic pinched from the artist's instagram. And my left arm is a collection of random tattoos that no one else would associate with music, but for me each is a representation of a favourite song of mine (so far they are all Queen songs...).

Hey everyone! I was going to post about having been busy (got 3 new puppies this year!) and me having been on a bit of a tattoo hiatus since my last post but then I realized 4 tattoos since April can't really be called a "hiatus" 😁.
Sure, I would have liked more, and they may be small(ish):
First off a fun little Studio Ghibli handpoke (actually it kind f ended up being two separate tattoos, Totoro/No Face on the back of my ankle and the little soot sprites (small one is about 1cm wide, excuse my blonde monkey hair) on my arm) by Serena Raccuglia. This was a "couple tattoo" to borrow a Korean expression, as the hubby got a matching one, with both Totoro and the sprites on his wrist.
Then the double trouble - mammoth skull on my right forearm, by Alessandro Caponetto, and the pretty (but impossible to photograph by myself) moon/peony blossom on my left shoulder by Claudio Romeo, done at Sick To Ink in Palermo, Sicily. At the same time. Such a fun way to spend a morning 😊.
Last but not least, on Friday I got my first tattoo at a convention: a very cool sacred heart by Vanessa Corsale.

Edit. Totoro pic pinched from tattooer so freshly done, everything else healed, except for the last one obviously (currently with pretty scabs on the yellow and peeling elsewhere)

Very nice work there. I also have a couple of hand pokes, and planning to get some more. I quite like the relaxed and quiet vibe vs. machine tattooing, and being able to feel and appreciate every single dot that makes up the design.
I also feel like they heal faster, but I haven't had a black linework only tattoo done by machine for ages, so it's probably not a fair comparison.

OP here, the tattoo is pretty much healed up now. only a few skin scabs here and there but no redness no puss etc. and the original colour seems to not have faded as much as I had expected it to. I am very surprised at how quickly it has started healing
The tattooist has offered to give me a 50% refund.

Heres 2 shots of removing Tegaderm.
Saniderm used to make me break out in water blisters and hives after 2 days. This heal process was : see below
Tattoo was done on Friday 6-8pm
    1) First 28 hours, wrap with Saran wrap only (washing periodically) (No moisturizer under saran wrap)
    2) Put first set of Tegaderm on after 28 hours
    3) Peel off after 24 hours and wash - let dry for 20 mins and apply second set of Tegaderm ( Sunday night)
    4) Leave (second set) on for 3 days and remove Wednesday night
    5) Apply good moisturizer and heal from here etc.
Notice the red lines around the edges of where the Tegaderm was. That is a mild irritation from 4 days of Tegaderm. Something is different with the glue in Tegaderm VS the Saniderm for my body.
The skin is wrinkled but healed over and is already peeling.
I soaked all of the Tegaderm in Coconut oil for 15 minutes before peeling off and it came of easy.
I also get one whole edge peeled back then pull it down very close to the skin so its NOT pulling the skin outward. this works for me.

I don't know what's up with my body but the last couple of tattoos have scabbed like never before. The back of my thigh is healing albeit a lot slower than other places. It's driving me batty! It's not itchy just scabby..

@Boiled Dove Hahaha...I always recruit people to Tegaderm me. I now have my "regulars" who laugh at me (I buy them drinks or dinner which seems to help).
Even with the derm, my last few have healed scabbier and slower. Thankfully, I just had bloodwork done so I know that at least the heal isn't something else. Your torch by Chad is amazing!!

Carrying it on the other side will not only reduce tattoo aggravation, it will reduce repeated stress on your spine. Once I switched to the left hand for carrying my briefcase or backpack, my back pains greatly reduced.

This one of Highway 61 is inspired, in part, by music. Dylan; blues highway ect... although it's also inspired by road trips and  the connection between northern MN and the Mississippi River. I also have a guitar with roses that Mario Desa made one me and a steal your face (grateful dead symbol) that I got in Vegas. My tattoo of red hot chili peppers is not inspired by music- that one is inspired by my love of hot peppers.
