  1. Also drove up to Napa to get this lady head/eagle from Chad Koeplinger on Thursday. Super good experience.
  2. Got this pantherose from Jeff Rassier at Black Heart yesterday. So stoked. If I lived here, I'd get a lot more tattoos a lot more quickly.
  3. I don't think so. I just looked in the "World of Japanese Tattooing--color illustrated" (1973) and didn't see anything like it. I also did a quick google search in Japanese and no explanation of the jewels included a drum. Closest I saw was kotsuzmi or raijin's drum.
  4. Nick Bubash posted a really cool lithograph by him on Instagram.
  5. Don't forget Jason Jessee!! I posted this somewhere before and it got no response, but in my mind, this is one of the funniest, smartest things said about tattoos (and body modification).
  6. I like the combination of tough hands and Doraemon cartoon characters!
  7. Yep! Coming at the end of the month. Let's meet for a beer! They do and it's within walking distance from my apartment, but I'm picky.
  8. I just made an appointment to get a tattoo from Jeff Rassier at the end of April. Was hoping to make additional appointments with other tattooers but it doesn't look like it's going to work this time. Pretty hard to make appointments months or years ahead of time when you live in another country. I've recently been wishing Japanese tattoos were my thing so that I could get tattooed locally more often.
  9. FYI it's usually not a problem to enter public baths "sento" with tattoos. Private hot springs "onsen" and hotel baths and pools are more likely to be a problem. This site is only in Japanese, but it offers consumer-based info on establishments that accept customers with tattoos: タトゥー・刺é’を入れã¦ã‚‚大丈夫ãªæ—¥æœ¬ä¸*ã®ãƒ—ールã«ã‚µã‚¦ãƒŠãƒ»æ¸©æ³‰ãƒ»éŠ*湯情å*±å…±æœ‰ã‚µã‚¤ãƒˆã€ã‚¿ãƒˆã‚¥ãƒ¼ã‚¹ãƒãƒƒãƒˆ
  10. I meant "... where he's from--Sensoji, Asakusa, Tokyo."
  11. The beardo on the left is a fireman. The bold letters on his front identifies him as being in the "Chi" group of firemen. The text on his right identifies where he's from Sensoji in Asakusa, Tokyo. I believe it was common for firemen to get tattooed for id purposes if they died on the job.
  12. For a while now: - Freddy Corbin New interests: - Horikyo - Claus Fuhrmann
  13. @CABS I wish I lived closer to Oakland. I really want my son and wife's names tattooed on me by Freddy.
  14. This one by Eddy Deutsche rules too
  15. I found a web page that had the Haeckel source for this Guy le Tatooer piece but I can't find it now... always thought it was a cool tattoo, read this thread, found the source, then lost it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Yep, and thanks! @Graeme @Johannes I posted pics on the full back piece experience thread right after I got it. It's also on Eddy's instagram account. I feel embarrassed to post it again.
  17. Hawk wrapped around my forearm by Timothy Hoyer
  18. By Robert Ryan at Electric Tattoo, Bradley Beach, NJ http://robertryanofjudah.tumblr.com/image/70126340846
  19. You can watch the whole thing here. It's a great documentary. Signatures of the Soul - Tattooing Today - Television | NZ On Screen
  20. I sometimes fantasize about being able to go back in time and getting a whole arm done by Claus Fuhrmann. I believe he works in Wien.
  21. @Cork Horitoshi I gave it to the man with the donburi suit as a "gift" when he finished his suit. It's a traditional Japanese motif that's supposed to bring good luck, but in this case, it's something Horitoshi puts only on people he really likes and he feels really understand his work. There are about 30 people in the world who have it. Both men in the video have it, and it makes them "like brothers" in a sense.
