I tend to get depressed about 48 hours after sessions of four hours or more. It doesn't have anything to do with HAVING the tattoo, but just a general burnout that is part of the healing process for me.

I just booked ten sessions for my back with Grez. July seems a very long way away. I'm out of words for how stoked I am on this.

I've had a tattoo crush on Ron Wells for ages now. Also, right now: AP Shrewsbury, Jason Phillips, Heather Bailey, Josh Stephens, Grez. And like fifteen other people.

When you stop having "late to work/school" stress dreams and begin to have "late for a tattoo appointment" dreams. I overslept, and then couldn't find my pants or the power bars I like to bring, and for some reason I was in San Francisco when I was supposed to be in New York...

I teach at a huge public university, and I let my tattoos show at work. I dress professionally to teach, but the sleeves and now my chest show most of the time. It doesn't seem to affect my classes or classroom authority very much, and I'm a pretty small young-looking lady too, but I like to keep my classes more casual than formal anyway. I guess I don't really aim to seem professorial when I teach--at least where I am now, just standing in front of the classroom and acting in charge seems to make them respect me, but I'm not teaching super high level classes or graduate students, either. That said, I think if I had intended on staying in academia or was trying to get a tenure-track position, I'd probably cover up more in the office. There's no dress code and no one has ever said anything negative to me, but out of the fifty or so people in my humanities department, there are only a couple of us with tattoos period, and I'm the only one approaching heavily tattooed. It probably wouldn't completely screw me over--we had a visiting professor a couple years ago with his hand done--but I don't think even public schools in academia are super tattoo-friendly, even if they're quiet about it. The freshmen might think I'm the coolest adjunct in the department, though.

I sat one 6.5 and two 8 hour sessions on a sleeve. The first eight hour session wasn't too bad (though I was sooo tired afterwards) but the second was brutal and felt like it was all bad spots. That one will be finished tomorrow, hopefully, and then I will never have to have an elbow tattooed again!

Came to Chicago this weekend and got this one from Nick Colella.

I have a tattoo over an old cigarette burn scar. I can only see the scar now in certain lights and if I'm looking for it.

I had most of my thigh outlined yesterday. It's not really that bad except I've already sworn I'll never take just flopping thoughtlessly down into a chair for granted ever again. The hardest part will be keeping the cat from jumping on me and marching on it.

I'm headed to Chicago in about a month. When I get back I should have something to contribute to the chest tattoos thread!

Mike is tattooing my arm! Great guy, does awesome tattoos.

I had a full day on my sleeve the weekend before last that filled in pretty much my whole forearm, and a couple other bits of upper arm. I didn't really sleep for four nights afterwards, because there was literally no way to avoid putting pressure on sore tattoo while lying down. It was hell, but somehow I'm still stoked to do it all again in a couple weeks.

Pretty sure the Hotel Chelsea closed as a hotel a year or so ago, they're turning it into condos or some shit. There used to be a tattoo shop in one of its store fronts. A shame nobody can stay there anymore, it was seedy and had a lot of history and character.

I'm back in New York at the end of the month for another session on my right sleeve. Another one in November, and it should be done. That'll probably close out the year for me.
