  1. I got this from Ron Wells when I was in New York a couple weeks back. Had a particularly awesome time getting this one. Picture nabbed from Instagram.
  2. Ron did my hip a couple weeks ago, and it wasn't too bad at all, but it only took an hour or so. Three Kings is an awesomely distracting shop to get tattooed in, which I bet helped too. It was one of the less painful tattoos I've gotten.
  3. Hermit crab I got from Deno at Kings Avenue on Thursday!
  4. Not difficult, but my foot was also slow healing, took four weeks to settle in completely, and bits of it peeled twice. I declared it healed Monday, just in time to have the other one done next week.
  5. The tattoo on the back of my neck does that, though it's the only one. Sometimes I wonder if it's reacting to the weather? It pops up a lot.
  6. Thanks everyone. I keep trying to make up excuses to head all the way back to New Jersey; I'd say I was going to the beach if I weren't healing tattoos until August (kind of screwed myself over this year in terms of summer fun). I suppose there's August... I love that shop.
  7. This is my new leg by Robert Ryan. Had a great time at Electric on Thursday, and this is definitely my new favorite tattoo. I have a feeling I'll be back there a lot...
  8. I rebandaged for the first time with my foot tattoo, and it seemed to do wonders in terms of swelling/general irritation. I just wrapped it that first night, but my foot was almost back to its normal size the next day, and was pretty much not bothering me at all by the day after. Other than that it seems to be healing normally. I don't know if I'll use this method for everything--I seem to have a curse where plastic wrap turns into a useless ball the second I look at it--but this one tattoo has been healing pretty awesomely so far.
  9. On my way to Electric in New Jersey today. Been looking forward to this appointment for a long time. Looking less forward to the three trains it'll take to get there, but oh so worth it.

    Athiests

I'm an atheist, though my parents tried really hard to get me into religion, any religion. My mom's Southern Baptist and my dad is Jewish--they were hoping I'd go one way or another, but I guess they just canceled each other out. It was a huge pain in the ass to try to get me to go to either Hebrew or Sunday school, so they gave up forcing it on me by... second grade or so.
  11. Bailey Robinson put a spider on my foot today. I'm pleased!
  12. I got mine three days after my eighteenth birthday--I'm sure I thought I was showing maturity and restraint by waiting those three days too--and I looked so young I'm pretty sure the tattooer thought my ID was fake. I wanted a bird, so I got a swallow off the wall. And now I have a whole bunch of bird tattoos, but it's still one of my favorites. Done by Joao Paulo Rodrigues.
  13. There are usually Playboys in the stack of magazines in the waiting area of the local shop I go to. I guess I noticed, but it doesn't put me off. I teach dirty poetry for a living, not much phases me.
  14. When I was six or seven there was a sixteen year old girl on my block with a tiny spider on her ankle. I was in awe of this, and wrote in my diary that I was going to get a spider tattoo as soon as I turned eighteen. Found this diary when I was cleaning out my mom's basement a few weeks ago--I'm a bit late, but am finally getting that spider done Monday.

    Hello.

Not a tattooer, just rather into tattoos, and losing blank skin at a somewhat startling rate this year after a five-year hiatus. I'm a New Yorker, but presently living (stuck?) in Ohio. I've been reading for a long time, so, hello!
