@oboogie - I am totally clueless at this point...but that's normal for me. Front or back of either shoulder...inside or back of bicep....inner forearm.... side of ribs.....panther, dagger, another wolf or eagle...

I'd go for the forearm. With your military history, personally, I'd go with the "Death Before Dishonor" dagger. I've always loved that design, and think it looks great, but by all means get what you want.

how was you on your first couple?

Same as you. Nervous, obsessed, pissed. But again, once it sank in that no tattoo is perfect (though some are certainly better than others) it stopped being an issue for me. Seriously, look up pictures of truly awful script tattoos and you'll see that yours is great!

You need to let it go. You probably shouldn't get any other tattoos.

Ehh I'm not so sure. I was the same way (if not worse) with my first couple of tattoos, but after a while I realized that they're not MEANT to be perfect. Once I realized that and got a few more it completely stopped bothering me. Now I have 13 lol.

  4. Hey everyone, I'm just looking for some advice on a good forearm tattoo. I already have a rock of ages on my right forearm that you might have seen and I'm trying to figure out what to get on the other arm. One design I particularly like is this classic sailor jerry pinup, but let me hear your ideas!

EDIT: I've also though about getting some kind of dagger. What do you guys think?

  5. Hey everyone. I'm just wondering if anyone knows how tattoos with no black in them look after a few years. I know it's generally frowned upon, but if it's a darker color (blue for example) would it last? Something like the picture I attached. I have no intention of getting anything like this by the way, I'm just curious as to how they hold up long term.

It was an awesome time. Trevor is an old pal from our teenage punk years. We teased him when he was the first of our friends to get some tattoo. And now he's tattooing us 2 decades later. It's really funny.

3 swallows blasted over the background of my 13 year old St. Francis tattoo. All draw on.  Used spearmint, lipstick red inks and some old National Yellow pigment for extra cool points. Cheers

That's a nice bright green. Looks great man!

Why am i beating myself up, i dont get it. ?

Alright, here's the thing, you got the tattoo, and no, it's not going away completely even with laser. You have two options, you can cover it up with something else, which I don't think you want to do, or you can live with it. I recommend the latter. It's well done, well placed, and it looks good. I get your frustration, but actions have consequences. And trust me, it wont attract that much attention. Maybe it's because I live in an area where most people have tattoos, but believe me, they're not the first thing people notice about you. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

how did you feel when you got yours then? and honestly do u think mine is not too big

At first I freaked out. I guess the permanence of it hit me. I also got my first couple of tattoos on impulse. But then I started getting more and before I knew it I wasn't worried anymore. Now I'm 13 in and already planning the next one. The best thing you could do is add to it as others have said. Find an artist who can incorporate it into a sleeve. And no, I don't think it's too big, it's a good size for your forearm.

It is the Size of the thing, the location,  it looks way to big.. I dont even know why i got the tattoo it was so impulsive i wasnt in the right frame of mind.

Trust me, I've been there. Everything you just said I felt when I got my first couple of tattoos. I also considered laser which, as far as I know, does work, though results vary. The best advice I got on here was "get more tattoos". You'd be amazed at how soon you stop worrying when you have a few more. I strongly recommend keeping it, at least until it heals completely. I really think it looks good, and it has genuine significance to you. Remember, it could always be a whole lot worse.

Thanks, I thought so too. ? The second guy's work was more intricate and cleaner in my opinion. Were you referring to the second guy's lion or the first?

No I meant the first guy, the second lion looked great. Everything has nice clean lines, good shading, etc. I'd definitely go with the second guy. Like @Synesthesia said, the first guy's not bad, but he ain't great either. Average.

  11. To be honest with you the second guy seems leaps and bounds above the other guy, though I could be a bit biased because I prefer his style. That lion looked a bit...off though. Not bad mind you, there's just something about it that seems off. Add to that the fact that he didn't get back to you on the drawing and I'd go with the second guy. But that's just my opinion.

Hi, my new tattoo, what do you think about it? Please tell me the truth, it's important. I'd like to fix something, should I add colour on the moth and inside the lantern? Thank you :)

I think it looks great the way it is. It's up to you if you want to change it but I'd say leave it alone. Give it a few months at least. Seriously though it does look cool.

I think the right coverup artist could easily rework that into a nice piece, kind of like this.

Agreed. Although I'm not sure a cover up is necessary here. Due to the simple geometric nature of it, it should be easy enough for the right artist to just incorporate it into a larger design while hiding/fixing the crooked lines. Just my 2¢.
