scottyg got a reaction from TattooedMumma in Tattoos inspired by music?
Nice!
I hadn't seen this thread previously, but my backpiece is of Jikokuten, the Buddhist god protector of the heavenly musicians, mentioned in the Lotus Sutra. I could use some protection.
Cheers!

scottyg got a reaction from Maynard in Has anyone else had post-tattoo panic/regret? How long does it last?
It's very common; we get posts on here like every few days.
I'd hold off on another one for a bit if this one is this concerning.
Nothing to do now other than to grow to love it, which you've indicated you already do; it ain't going anywhere.

Just had my first session on my back piece 😍 covering up a couple little sticker tattoos while we’re at it. I’m in love. Work is being done by Travis Hulshizer at the green gazelle is KC MO. I can’t say enough good things about him. Turkey vultures are my favorite bird and I’ve been dreaming of a large scale piece with one in it. I told him the vaguest of ideas and he delivered this. I’m SO excited. Also holy shit the back hurts

scottyg got a reaction from Hygge. in Tattoo Video Stills
Hey guys.
In like 2016 a film student made a video of an old session of mine getting waves and leaves added to my turtle by Takashi Matsuba in his old studio. Thought I'd post some stills from the video here. The video's locked, but it's cool.

If you can't share your insight and/or experience on over moisturized tats or scars why even comment?

As @scottyg said, that location is difficult to heal. Just keep it clean and let it heal. That's what I did for both of my arm ditches.

scottyg got a reaction from Hogrider in Inner elbow infection?
I'd say it's just a bad-ish scab, given the area it's kind of to be expected, with all the natural movement that occurs there. Not hot or painful is a good sign.
I'd just keep *lightly* moisturizing it, and let the body heal itself. You'd be amazed.
And if necessary you can get it touched up later.

scottyg reacted to Hogrider in Is this normal? Just removed dermalize.
It takes 4- 6 weeks for a tattoo to heal. I wouldn't start to worry until then. BUT, it wouldn't hurt to send pics to the artist and ask them.

scottyg got a reaction from Hands On in New here and starting major project!
Yes, the back is rough, but you power through it because you're tough and powerful. also, don't be afraid of breaks and communicating with your artist. I get completely naked, but I'm a dude so it's different.
There's a thread here called "full back piece experience." Check it out for further ideas.

Recently got my first tattoo in the US. Originally from New Zealand where I have three others. Super happy with the result, two sessions 15/16 hours total. Done at stained skin in Columbus Ohio. Excuse the swelling on the inside and outside of my bicep, that shits painful LOL.

My artist's shop reopened with one person at a time and only two artists working. Everyone wears masks, and they can only get in a couple of scheduled tattoos a day (no walk-ins). Got this yesterday. My artist and I both love John Prine.

Here's a small one I got yesterday. It's a snail warrior, a symbol of the band Heilung. They play music derived from pre-viking northern tribes. Very ancestral.

Thanks for the love and tips everyone! I'm definitely anxious for the pain aspect but I'm sure I can do it 😳 I'll be most excited when it's finished. I'm not one who enjoys the process!

I haven’t got any back pieces done but I have my shoulder. Why not try wearing a bikini top? Then that way there’s only two strings to contend with and they can be untied when he gets to the center. Your front would still be covered (you’d be lying on your stomach most likely, or maybe sitting in a chair leaning on the back?). Your sleeve is amazing, I love it.

All parts of the back are not equal. I almost fell asleep while my artist was working on my upper back. When he hit the love handles though, that smarts!
