I bought a black compression sleeve to wear on my forearm while my sleeve is healing. I wore it for about a week, and now I’ve been just using a lotion that has sunscreen in it.

Here’s my progress so far on my sleeve from Bobby Cupparo @ LOVEMACHINE N.Y.C. We’re about 25 hours in so far - I think we’ve roughly got about that left before the project is finished. I had (and have) ink fallout from black inks so my blacks usually need some touching up. The lionness was the first piece of the sleeve to be worked on, and was recently worked on this past Saturday. The mandrill is a few months finished at this point. Everything usually gets touched up a slight bit going into each session to address problem areas.

Going to be finishing up the lower portion of the sleeve I started a few months back with Bobby Cupparo at the Philadelphia Tattoo Convention (February 12th) I believe. If any of you will be there, come say hello! I’ll be in the chair all day. Adding a Caprian Ibex and possibly another bug to the backside of my forearm. Killer tattoo! Sorry I don’t have any advice - never even started a project that large.

For all of you who have seen the recent fiasco about Everence on Instagram, what are your opinions on the product?

The one-shot piece I was looking at, tip included, was roughly the price of my session cost for my sleeve...so, it’s like...knock that out, or get my sleeve done months sooner. It’s already going to take another year and a half or so for my sleeve to be completed and it’s my first multi session piece, so I’m getting that itch again to get work done sooner than I actually can manage. I get your point, though. If it was just a lil’ jammer or something it would be no big deal.

Mine isn’t traditional Japanese, but your point still resonates.

I’m thinking I’m agreeing - someone else on the forum posted something along the lines of “there’s plenty of amazing tattooers you’ll be too early to get tattooed by, and plenty you’ll be too late to get tattooed by”. ...or not have the funds, or the time, or whatever. Such is life.

How many of you guys get tattoos done concurrently to large project pieces? My sleeve is in progress but I’m getting the itch to get other work done, and I’m trying to figure if I should just use whatever money would go towards something else for sessions on the sleeve..

After a month, whatever the tattoo looks like it's going to look like. I wouldn't have even noticed if you didn't mention the spot you're talking about. Instead of focusing your energy on the things you consider flaws in this tattoo, focus your energy on something that you can change, like getting more tattoos if you're so inclined. All my work has flaws; ink loss from scabs pulling off, an ever slightly crooked line, etc. It's part of getting tattooed! Embrace the imperfection! The Japanese even have a word for it (wabi sabi). The flaws make your artwork that much more unique. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My reasoning being that I am a business owner, and I never accept tips from customers.

I received an email back from Evan Olin, and it seems as of current he is only doing pop-culture portraiture. I've decided to go with an alternate choice for my photorealistic wildlife sleeve, and that's Bobby Cupparo out of New York. He's extremely enthusiastic about the project, and I must say, I am as well! We'll be starting it in early October.
