Yeah, I wouldn't recommend newbies start with a full back piece. But the arms and legs aren't that bad, except for ditches and joints.

A tattoo is not a sticker. Every tattoo has tiny "flaws." No one will notice them but you.

So then @Hogriderwas completely justified in his comment, you got something permanently tattooed on your body and have no idea what it says.
Maybe find a forum for Buddhist monks and ask them.

You might want to know what a tattoo means BEFORE you get it. What if it means "kick me"?

it will NEVER again look like it did the day you got it,
and keep a light coat of a lotion like Aveeno on it daily,
and hey ! if you need  a touchup in a couple months, no biggy.
keep it out of the sun or use a good sunblock if you are in the sun for a while.

I love Saniderm or similar - but if you can't live with it long term (4 days or so) then just live with it for the duration of your tattooing that weekend. It'll be the best way of not contaminating your fresh work while the new work is getting accomplished.

I am experiencing the very same thing currently. Been searching all over to find out what and why. I found this and it is exactly what I’m experiencing. The only difference is I have quite a few tattoos and it is only happening with one and only on the first word. Weird it wouldn’t be the whole tattoo. I will be scheduling an appointment with my dermatologist for sure. This is very worrisome. My tattoo is about 6 months old and no issues up until 2 days ago. Crazy. I hate it.

@RadbeetSure, go swimming with that open wound. What's worst that could happen?

    Yeah - no.
Particularly the Gulf of Mexico or other coastal areas - Vibrio Vulnificus is no joke (although it does have a cool name).

There will likely be improvements in inks that make them less likely to migrate or fade.

Actually I can imagine that there will be some kind of a machine in the little farther future that will inject the ink under the skin very accurately and by far faster that man's work according to the sketch was implicated into it's computer.

Update: The weird pinpricking lasted about two days and went away on its own. Tattoo is on track and healing normally. My doc said it was likely some sort of auto-immune response, as I don't seem to be allergic. Not sure if it will happen on future tattoos, since it had never happened to me before.

I'm no bitch but at times my backpiece using tebori has been absolutely excruciating. You power through it, you find ways, but at times it does feel unbearable....

I have friends who talk about how they want their sleeves and tattoos, but don't want any part of the pain.
    -- I don't get that.
    Never have, never will.
The pain is part of the tattoo process. Suck it up or embrace it. If you skip the pain, you're missing out on a major part of the tattoo experience in my opinion. The pain is temporary, the tattoo is permanent....well, i don't even know about that. Life is temporary.

Quit listening to idiots. How exactly do they propose you fix it? You can't pull the ink back out, all you could do is make the lines thicker and you'll most likely wind up with a mess.
Thin, delicate skin is prone to blow outs, that's just a fact. Stop obsessing over it.

Princess Sparkle Mittens reacted to JAC1961 in How can I fix this cover up?
I agree with everyone else that it's good the way it is. I'm not a tattoo artist, but I gotta believe covering black (I assume it's black underneath) with yellow wasn't the best plan. But that's just me.

It won’t “fix” itself. You should fix your expectations of tattoos. Tattoos are imperfect. They are made by imperfect people on an imperfect canvas. They are not meant to be looked at through a microscope. It’s a small tattoo on a delicate piece of skin and any imperfection is going to be spotted easier.

it really looks like it's healing fine to me.
you have to exercise patience with new tattoos.
hopefully you'll learn to love it.

I wouldn’t recommend having your first tattoo experience be on your back down your spine. That being said, welcome! Do your research on an artist that has done similar work to what you want. Show them some references and don’t rush the process. Try to think about your future plans too and where this tattoo will fit.

Everyone wants people to like their tattoos, but the most important thing is that YOU like them. I never had any negative comments, other than that I have too many (live with it mom), but if I did, I'd try to blow them off.
