Not really. Hunter is a traditional tattooer. Therefore he is going to approach a tattoo that way. I prefer Japanese style tattoos with a "traditional" approach. Different strokes for different folks.

Just had this gem done by Mitch Love from Westside tattoo in Queensland, Australia. He was spontaneously in Melbourne for three days and I was lucky enough to get a spot.
Sorry the photo isn't great. I will upload one once it's all healed and pretty.

Nothing wrong with Koi, I'm working on a Koi and Koi-Dragon sleeve right now.

Hannya, foo dog, skull, octopus, etc are not very common, but I do say things are common for a reason (they look good).
When researching what to get for a Japenese tattoo I suggest looking at old Japanese artwork (woodblock prints), as this is the same source for tattoos.

Hunter does good solid tattoos!
My guess is that it will heal in perfect and if it really bothers you then he would be the one to talk to about it once it is fully healed in!
Some people seem to scab worse than others....just leave it be and it should be fine!

Wait until it heals and then get out your ruler! At my age when I think something isn't perfect on my tattoos I just take off my glasses and then everything looks fine.

so clean! every line is perfect and the shading is as solid as it gets!
