  1. After 2 1/2 months rooming with my lovely mother after moving back to VT, I am moving into my own place! Living out the New Girl dream and rooming with 3 men... This should be interesting!
  2. My experience with sign language is you learn a lot as you use it in real life situations. But I guess thats true for any language. It also helps that most signs are fairly obvious.
  3. Bummer @Mark Bee and @El Dolmago! I'm working very hard to make it to this, but life has been hectic as usual... Keep you all posted if I do make it out. Would love to meet you all.
  4. Considering going to this, just depends on if I'll have people to make the (now short) trip up with. I'll be in touch with everyone if I make it official. Saturday would probably be a better day for me, as a heads up. Also, for those who have gone in the past, do you recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time?
  5. I just set an appointment with Nora Townsend at Magnetic North Tattoo in Burlington, VT for the first week of October. Very excited! Having a blast here and stoked that there is a great shop in my backyard :)
  6. Ello everyone! I am back (well sort of). Been enjoying browsing through the LTL thread. *high fives to all* A friend and I may be going to the Montreal Convention, but nothing for sure yet, so hopefully I can meet some LSTers and *fingers crossed* get tattooed?! Yeah, so... moved back to VT and slowly settling in. Starting a new job next week and very excited as it will give me more clinical mental health experience and all the people who work there are super cool. Also pretty proud of myself for landing a FT w/ benefits job in less than a month since moving here, and a better one at that. Feels really good. Trying to move on relationship-wise, don't see the point in "appropriately?" mourning the break-up... so I have a potential date! Also reconnecting with old friends and making new ones, which has been a blast. And seeing my family everyday is a joy like none other. And its very clear how much happier my puppy is here instead of in the city. She's a runner and definitely prefers to be off-leash :) Not sure how often I'll be contributing on here, but just wanted to let y'all know I'm not dead... yet! And keep on getting rad tattoos, you all rule and thanks for the support.
  7. Yeah the travel is not an issue, since my family is in VT I've done the trip from the NYC area and back many times, its more lodging... taking time off of work... etc. and also not having an SO to split living costs is going to make it tough $ wise down the road, so trying to save and get my bearings first. I'll definitely be getting tattooed in the NY area since VT is slim pickings...
  8. Divorced. Moving in with my mom in VT. Had to cancel all of my tattoo appointments in NYC. Probably won't be getting tattooed until I can afford to travel. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. I probably will be preoccupied with life stuff and melancholy over not being able to get tattooed... so I will be fairly absent from here for some time. Thanks everyone for being so cool and getting rad tattoos. I shall return...

@LadyGabe definitely finish the GOT books. I found 3 and some of 4 were a struggle, but 5 is worth it. Also I'm pretty sure the series has dabbled in book 4 (maybe even book 5) plots a little. Mainly because book 4 and 5 occur at the same time, but have different character POVs.

@idyllsend my mom claims The Clan of the Cavebear books are her favorite. And I've heard the same from other people who have read them. Next on my list... I'd say if you have time to finish Game of Thrones this weekend, then you have plenty of time to read! Haha it took me around a month to finish each book in that series and I read often. @LadyGabe whenever a 50 Shades of Grey groupie raves about 50 Shades, I recommend the Sleeping Beauty trilogy ;) Those books were tough to get through LOL
  11. Oh shit I forgot that came out... off to iTunes I go...

    Book thread

Finally working through the last few Vampire Chronicles books by Anne Rice now that I finished the Mayfair Witches and could read Merrick (finished that 2 weeks ago, was a little slow going but a great read). I finished the last book of a guilty pleasure YA trilogy (Can't remember the first two, but the last is 'Ruin and Rising'). Now I'm going to blast through the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. My mind needs a break this summer before starting my master's program in the fall. I think these books are great but only because I've seen all of True Blood. If someone were to read them without all the fleshed out characters and Louisiana accents, I think they would feel dull and childish. But with all of that visual content packed in my head, they are so much fun to read. Especially to have Sookie's narrative through everything. I think she is one of my favorite literary/TV characters of all time.
  13. Wait... even if touching tattoos was only about sex/attraction, when did everyone become heterosexual again? Clearly there's a lot of man-on-man tattoo poking and stroking going on... If you're going to be an idiot, at least be inclusive!
  14. Welcome! I love that scorpion tattoo. Got any new tattoos lined up?
  15. Great stuff! I love how bold it is, congrats!
  16. Started running (well more like lightly jogging with alternating walking) today! Feeling more motivated this time around... I think my hatred for my ever increasing weight is slowly becoming stronger than my hatred for running. I'm hoping if I can make it past the point where I usually get discouraged, I should be able to keep up the habit.
  17. @hifire sounds like you probably mentioned it awhile back, but who is the artist?
  18. It seems like you get tattooed every weekend lately... can we switch lives? I'm assuming at The Pearl?
  19. Sorry for your loss @SeeSea. I love that last suggestion for a pet memorial ;) I think monmon cat tattoos are becoming a rite of passage here.
  20. I actually had a different artist touch up one of my tattoos. Totally different circumstance than the OP. Not sure if going somewhere else in this case is the best option, but definitely ask the artist first and go from there.
  21. I've asked my husband a few times if he would ever be into getting one. I find he is most intrigued when we are in an actual tattoo shop, but it usually boils down to him not wanting to spend that kind of money on a tattoo (especially since he knows how much it costs from watching me spiral into debt ). I think if someone else was funding his tattoos (probably me) he would be covered, but he will always prefer to spend his money on drum equipment... and food.
  22. Haven't started a new thread in awhile, so here we go... As I mentioned awhile back, I have appointments lined up with Grez to finish out my right arm (so far I have my shoulder and inner bicep complete). I have a list of images/themes I want to include and tackle it as a mish-mash of smaller designs. Actually @TrixieFaux 's sleeve by Kim Saigh has been a big inspiration. I love Grez's bold style and definitely want him to complete the images and give him as much creative license as possible. However, I was considering making it a collaboration with Rose Hardy. Lately, I've been digging her lace-like filler pieces and geometric designs. Anyway... enough of my incoherent rambling (I truly hope everyone understands what I'm getting at)... so my question(s) are: Do you think this is possible? (Obviously I'm going to run everything by Grez at our consult, just want to nail down some ideas first) and what is the etiquette with collaboration pieces? Has anyone gotten filler tattooed by a different artist? Also, I'm hoping this thread can be a cool discussion on collaboration projects. I think we all agree @ironchef takes the cake with his Henning/Rubendall back piece. Anyone else have large scale tattoos from two (or more?!) artists? What was the process like? Thanks everyone!
  23. @TrixieFaux yes!!! It's sooo good. I was on the fence, now I want one. Maybe he would do a monmon dog? Haha I love the placement and how big it is. Very nice.
  24. It's funny, because as of late I keep forgetting that my tattoos are not "normal" per se and I become confused when people stare and what not. I often have to remind myself I have them or that they're showing.
