DJDeepFried got a reaction from Maynard in Tattoo Blowout
It happens. No tattoo is perfect. It's a handmade craft. Gives it character, etc. Chances are it won't bother you so much as time goes by. But at least let it heal. Fixing it could make it worse. Up to you if you want to take that chance. But I'd do what your artist recommends if you trust him/her. The reason why "get more tattoos" is the best answer is because you'll drive yourself crazy nitpicking over every last detail so you may as well put that energy into planning the next one.

DJDeepFried got a reaction from michi0709 in Why do good people get bad tattoos?
I can say that in my own "tattoo journey," the first one I got was kind of on a whim. I went to a street shop with @TrixieFaux – she had an appointment; I was a walk-in – with an image that I literally printed out from Google Images, and that's exactly what he tattooed on me. It wasn't bad, just meh. It never occurred to me to do it any other way, but he also didn't suggest how he could make it look cooler or whatever. (Since then I covered it mostly because it was in prime real estate – my shoulder – but I didn't hate it.) I've since learned that's probably not the best way to do it. This was pretty much before Instagram, but it's not like I didn't have access to the information. I just didn't know to look let alone where. At that point, I don't think I had ever even seen a "good" tattoo on anyone in real life.
Back in the day when your only option was to pick flash off the wall you'd pretty much know what you're getting. So in a way this trend of "custom" tattooing means you might get a worse tattoo than you would otherwise if you don't know what the F you're doing.

Kim Saigh @ Memoir in L.A. added on to my half-sleeve to match my other arm. Impressed by how seamless she made it look. Healed pics by @TrixieFaux.

Yes the current trend is to not permanently ink yourself with symbols of racism, hate, etc. Sad that there are people who continue to embrace the most shameful period of USA history.

@DJDeepFried Man, that sucks. I was hoping that the tides had turned and the courts would rule differently. The Olympics are going to be very interesting in 2020 when the world's athletes and tourists arrive all tatted up.

DJDeepFried got a reaction from JazzyMac in Are there way too many tattoos, especially on ...
I have seen too many knuckleheads on message boards. I suppose it depends on their lack of brain power and Neanderthal value system.

if you follow Jeff Rassier on IG, then you may have seen the four little fillers i got from him on Saturday. he drew them all directly on skin, so each one fits its spot perfectly.

DJDeepFried got a reaction from El Dolmago in When is it appropriate to start a new thread?
I wish people would stop starting new threads to show off their new tattoos. That's what Latest Tattoo Lowdown is for. Otherwise you're just cluttering the feed. If someone wants to ask an actual question that's okay with me even if it's been asked before.

I had to learn this as well. I'm a perfectionist and I always look for flaws in everything and it drives me nuts. It's a good quality for my work since I'm in construction and my work is mint because of this. It's different with tattoos. little imperfections is what makes a tattoo a tattoo and not a sticker on your body. I had to let go of certain things and eventually your forget about little (mistakes) and you learn to love your tattoos

My advice: save your money. Move. Get more tattoos, in that order.

That is not a mistake I intend to make. This is not my trade, if I tell someone a piece of industrial equipment is broken or unsafe, I expect them to suck it up and piss off (I'm an engineer). If an artist tells me it cant be done or it will look terrible in a few years, then I'm going to listen and behave accordingly.
At the moment I'm in Ukraine, but I'm somewhat of a Nomad at the moment, I guess the pro is I'm willing to travel countries to find an artist if I need to. But the con is I've learned on here that I cant really get judged by an artist just by email and I'm never anywhere for very long.
I think I'll make a thread about it tomorrow with some pictures, it always paints a better picture!

Or find an artist you like who works in that style and trust him or her. A good experienced tattooer will know how to put something on you that stands the test of time. Which also means you have to listen to what they can and cannot do. Too many people end up with shit tattoos because they're stubborn or think they know better

Then put that energy into planning your next one. Or maybe tattoos aren't for you. Cos that one definitely won't be "perfect" either. Nature of the beast and all that

Then let it be a lesson to you not to sweat the small stuff. Not trying to belittle your OCD or saying get over it. Just trying to turn a negative into a positive. Tattoos are imperfect because they're made by humans, not robots, and there's no eraser on the other end of the tattoo machine. That's part of the beauty of them. People aren't perfect either. Get more tattoos and you won't even think about it. Worked for me
