Just finished my Jason Reeder owl. :D My picture is awful because it's still shiny/swollen/red, plus I'm bent over upside down trying to get a good angle, it looks slightly distorted here but looks better in person. It's on the side of my leg and the wings wrap onto my shin slightly, so it's tough to get a pic of it all. Jason is awesome to work with and we've already discussed expanding on this piece and having a nocturnal theme around my lower leg. 2 sessions, about 5 hours.
Thats beautiful mate!

I have total confidence in the artists I visit and I think that is very important. I usually now just say do what you want and I trust i will get some piece of art that's beautiful. The first few I had I did bring lots of pics etc and although they are executed beautifully and I love them, they are and wont be original as others will copy from the same pictures I took from the internet which they are entitled to do as its on the internet. I have learned this to a certain degree but I guess all art has some sort of inspiration from other art.
I the same as mmikaoj really didn't like traditional or Japanese, as I grew up with the proper council estate shite tattoos you laugh at on the web. I know also am starting to love some traditional and some stuff by Horitada etc and now having seen and love them and appreciate them more I would if I wasn't covered happily wear something like that, where as before I wouldn't of ever thought it :) Things change :)
So I guess for me is most important to get top notch artists. I don't think it matters if you stay with one or get loads from different artists. If they are all top notch they will fit your pieces in. Personally I enjoy the travelling and meeting new people, so for me its an easy option to get art from more artists, rather than just one :)

And perhaps most notably: some of the stuff that I _absolutely_ wanted to get 2 years ago, I am really happy I didn't get. Not that it would be really bad tattoos, they would probably be good, but more so that now I know better, and don't want to waste the space with anything less than optimal. Also goes for changing my taste and finding artists that I like better. For example I have this idea for a lady head and at first I was so sure I wanted to have Sarah Carter do it, but now probably two years has passed since I first got the idea and about 10 tattooers have been considered, and I am still not sure haha
yeah I agree, I am finding loads more artists work that I love now and have started thinking more about the space I have left. I have also started to love Emily Roses work https://www.facebook.com/pages/Emily-Rose/131863226850906?fref=ts which I am not sure if its classed as new traditional or? But I love it and has me thinking about getting something along those lines which I doubt I would have thought about before. Not sure it will go with what I have on the rest of me though :)

Legitimately 16 hours? Kudos to you, if so. How awful do you feel at the end of that?
Longest was 19 hours on ribs, I felt fine. Carlos tapped out before me to be honest, I could have gone longer quite easily. Were all different and for me thighs is weak spot it seems 7 hours and then it starts to kill me :)

@peterpooseWhen I was reading your post I thought to myself that I would NEVER go as fast as you do. I've been rushing quite a bit since last year too, but I am probably at about 35% coverage right now. And now I am definitely slowing down. I want to stretch out my tattooing experience. The process of thinking about subjects and styles, finding new tattooers and developing my taste, setting up appointments, meeting new people, waiting and then finally getting a tattoo: that's nice to me. I find that I enjoy it less if I get tattooed to often. Don't want to rush it.
But then at the end you did write that you are 41 years old, that kind of changes it completely. So I say, go for it!
Yes I enjoy the travelling, the meeting new people as much as the actual tattooing. I am also going to try and slow down after next year lol I also want to extend my tattooing experience :)
Yeah I am 41, so I guess I would like to have some tattoos while I am still relatively young but yeah I have gone very fast and spent a lot of money in a short space of time, probably close to £50,000 on tattoos since 2012. My Mrs wants me to slow down also lol
-
waiting for @peterpoose to chime in here. This guy is mental, 16 hour sessions every day or two. He must have gone from no tattoos to 60% coverage in less than a year? Correct me if I'm wrong Peter. All his work is by top artists as well. I just want to meet this guy to shake his hand.
Thanks Amok :)
Yeah I had my first tattoo beginning of 2012.
To the OP, as above bigger is better in my opinion. Go as fast as you want but make sure you get great artists and designs you will love forever. I will probably be 80% covered by end of next year and I will save my other sleeve for awhile as I really want to see whats about in a few years :)
Nothing more annoying than running out of room, so I would say don't go as mad as I did as you will learn stuff as you go which will help you decide your next tattoos, plus you will have many years to fill your body if you plan :)
I think I went fast because of my age (41) :)
Good luck mate :)

@peterpoose love it ! Remis does not get the recognition he deserves , one of the finest black and grey realism artists around in my opinion.
I agree but I think that will change :)
-
My Remis piece still in progress, doing some more Tuesday and then in March.
Yes I think the nipple has to go but he went close to it tonight and I cam tell already its going to be hell lol
He wanted to do something completely different from roses and ships as he is bored shitless with them so I said go crazy, I think he is adding upside down headphones below lol
Its definitely different and I think it will look awesome when completed. He is one of the nicest artists I have met also!
We did 11 hours tonight on this, sorry for the moob shots and the shit pictures from my phone :)

Pfew, it's all done! :)
Today was the 5th and last session on my 'Tamatori-Hime' sleeve, I expected to sit for like 3 hours to color the octopus, but in the end we clocked in 5 hours of tattoo time... and the chest part was kinda borderline brutal ;-)
The orange is looking rather like 'radio-active orange' :) but that will soften up a bit/a lot when it's healed.
And now, fill up my back! When i've got some cash again :-))
Wow, awesome work!

Yes I travel by car from the UK to all over Europe as I hate flying lol My trips are usually around the 4000 mile mark every 6 months. All my back to back sessions so far have been fine apart from this last one, which was just one off day I guess, no explanation for it. I have been told by nearly all the artists that worked on me that I have very good skin for tattooing, don't ask me what that means lol
I also heal very quickly which I guess is another bonus. I have fallen asleep a few times while getting tattooed and missed it all lol
From my expirience so far, for me personally my thighs are by far the worst pain and my shin was extremely painful also.
I am told ribs are terrible, which I guess i will find out in 2 weeks time as Carlos Torres is doing my whole side. I have asked for him to try and complete the whole rib and half chest side in back to back sessions in 2-3 days as he isn't long in London but I am not sure I will handle that so I guess I will wait and see :)

I know a lot here are not really into the new type of stuff but i will post anyhows :)
First was with Tofi 11 hours of sheer hell on my shin, by far the worst session I have had. I know this tattoo will not last long due to the way it has been done but I like the quirkyness and I can laser it at some point and get something new lol
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next day did 4 hours with Victor Portugal just to finish my backpeice.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2nd day with Victor Portugal was 6 hours and we are starting down my legs and arse cheeks :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3rd Day with Victor he doesnt want me to post till complete :(
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next day Silvano Fiato for 6 hours to fill in above the lady he did last time :)
Sorry for the knacker shot lol

Ok something strange happened to me last week with my sessions.
I did an 11 hour shin session with Tofi which was by far the most painful and brutal session I have had.I was told it was the machine he used but I am not so sure about that, he is probably heavy handed too. Anyhows I am normally ok with multiple long sessions. Next day I go to Victor Portugal for a 3 day back to back session. First day 4 hours was ok, second day 6 hours was okish but the final day and a first for me I had to throw the towel in after 4 hours. I just could not go on. It was the back of my thigh and I am still very disappointed in myself for throwing the towel in so early....Next day I did 7 hours with Silvano Fiato and I was fine again.
Dont understand it really :)

Today was the third session on my Tamatori-Hime sleeve/chestpiece. It took 5 hours to put in some background on my upper arm :)
(There is some old kanji on my upper arm that's in the process of being covered)
And this is the complete picture of how it is now:
Oh fuck me thats nice!

Leaving tomorrow morning for another 4000 mile driving trip for more tattoos :)
First is Tofi on the 20th, then Victor Portugal on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd to carry on with my back peice and then on to Silvano Fiato on the 26th.
Victor is doing my arse cheeks this time around so driving 3000 more miles on it doesn't sound like fun lol

I have never used anything for pain. I did 72 hours in a week and my arse hurt more from sitting for 9 hours a day. Saying that my thigh did start to hurt around the 8 hour mark and the bottom of my back as it is quite fleshy, other than those two quite painful experiences I have been fine.
Getting my ribs and half full front chest piece in Sept by Carlos Torres and I am told that this is very painful :)
-
thanks :)
I am pretty OCD with my tattoos. I use Sunscreen (clear spray). I made a homemade batch of moisturiser lol
I dont wear long sleeves no but I am in the UK so. Although this year has been really hot.
Like a prick I went and sunbathed a few weeks ago for around 3 hours. I had sunscreen on but still some smaller parts of white started going yellowish so I left :(

Small update on my continuing 6 monthly photo sessions to show any changes in that time :) Will keep this thread updated every 6 months for those interested in seeing how its going :)
The last two pics are with the same camera, as they will be now for the pictures ahead :)

I have given all the artists gifts. I have given them artwork by a street artist friend of mine on canvas.
This time I have bought art sets with all the fancy shit inside a box, hope they like them lol

My weak spots seem to be thighs, the fleshy parts:-)
