Pugilist reacted to Liz Stitch Ellis in Post awesome things you have been doing recently
I'm actually finally testing for my black belt sunday, in Shotokan (very traditional non sport) life got in the way and cost me 4 years and I've finally gotten back to it for long enough to test! I can't wait!! Wednesday is our last official class.

Pugilist got a reaction from tattooedj in Dragons!!!
I have recently become obsessed with this sheet of E.C. Kidd flash (from 1912! 100 years old!!!) which I believe is from the Hardy book Flash from the Past, and am very seriously considering getting one of the beautiful dragons off of it. Love love love everything about them.

Pugilist reacted to SnowyPlover in Marcus Kuhn's New Project
I hope it's okay bringing a month old thread back, but this 4th installment is my favorite and I think people should see it (along with the rest of the episodes too!). I got to meet Marcus when I was being tattooed at Full Circle by Gemma Pariente. I geeked out and blurted "I love your Gypsy Gentlemen episodes!" and he was super cool about it . I would love to be tattooed him and Bill Canales (who really is one of the humblest, most talented guys out there - the pieces I saw him working one were off the charts amazing).

ThaliaCamille, I am super jealous! I got to use a hundred year old press (that was historically significant to local printing) while doing litho last year, and I thought that was cool. How does it run?
And Posterboy, congrats on going back to school! Speaking as a prof, I love students who have returned (and teach many of them at my university) as, like PhilB said, y'all tend to be more motivated, less whiny and entitled, and get shit done. I hope it's a super rewarding experience, and PhilB, I promise that not all profs hate teaching!
This is probably not that awesome to normal people, but my big thing this summer has been finally learning how to drive, at the tender age of 31. This is what happens when you grow up somewhere with great public transit. I am taking my exam next week and while I feel really proud of how confident and competent I've gotten behind the wheel, I am nervous as all hell. (I will admit that part of the motivation for finally going for it, though, is to be able to share the driving with my dude on upcoming tattoo-related road trips.)

I had a trauma doc at my hospital buy my partner and I coffee for doing some kick-ass patient care today. The dude still died, but felt good to hear a doc tell me I did a good job rather than yelling at me for not doing "enough". This was even after he threw up nasty coffee-ground vomit all over the team.

Pugilist got a reaction from dirbab in Animated tattoo...?
Honestly, it was sponsored by a liquor company clearly wanting to look hip and modern or whatever, so it's about what you expect--something "new" that is only "new" because no one else cared to do something like this because...who cares? Hope the sponsorship means that at least the artist and client got handsomely paid, which is the only reason to do something this silly.

ThaliaCamille, sounds super fun nevertheless! I love the technicality of printmaking precisely because even if my artistic abilities are whatever, the whole process of doing something so mechanical is still so satisfying. It sounds cool.
And AlannaCA, a good friend of mine did that 5k and it seems awesome--the photos on Facebook of her covered head to toe in mud were epic.

Pugilist reacted to TrixieFaux in Relationships and tattoos
Ha, I hear you. It's getting like that w/me and @DJDeepFried, too. At first, I was the one with tattoos. Then he got 1. Then he got a huge one for his 2nd, bigger than mine put together. I was a little jealous. So now I'm getting a huge one. I had wanted a tiger and mentioned it a long time ago. Then he mentioned something about the possibility of him getting a tiger. Then I was like, well, I better get my tiger right now before he does. Haha. Then, he can still go ahead and get one, it's a free country, we can be twins if he wants, but at least it'll be him copying me and not the other way around hahaha. I'm getting mine Aug 13th. :-P
I especially agree with your last sentence, it's pretty fun.

i'm back! its been a while since ive had any free time to myself to be able to come back to LST, but now that im up at the cottage for the week ill have plenty of time to catch up on the stuff that ive missed!
another thing i find funny is that i almost have perfect recollection of some of the threads going on here and where i want to write each of my new stories! (side note: if you knew me you'd know sometimes i cant remember my own birthday!! lol)
now to write something that actually applies to this thread.
i was seeing this guy a while back and i was over at this house one night. i mentioned to him that i was going to Chicago for a short trip and i said that i was also going to get tattooed. he said "what, its not enough that you could get Hepatitis here you have to go to Chicago to try and get it?" i cant even tell you how fast i left his apartment. lol! you win some and you lose some!

The two largest pieces on my arm, on my forearms actually, are Sailor Jerry flash. It's history. I eat that shit up.
