  1. Welcome to LST. You must be so excited! Who's doing your tattoo?
  2. It seems when looking at tattoos online, on Instagram, etc almost everything you see there is brand new. The one you posted was finished just before they took the photo. A healed tattoo looks different from a fresh one for sure. It's not like the tattoo artist is trying to misrepresent their work, it's simply the most convenient time to take the photo. There's also something to be said for the fact that, with access to tattooers' portfolios from all over the planet, you can view the work of the best tattoo artists in the world right from your computer, and those are the images most often shared and linked all over place (and therefore rank really high in google's search results). You're much more likely to see a top-tier tattoo on google than you are on the people you encounter in person on a daily basis.
  3. Wow @RScott that sleeve is amazing!!! And @Synesthesia that rabbit is looking so nice! Here's the fox I got yesterday from Ron Wells, tough to get a good photo. Was supposed to fly in, get the tattoo, and fly back out last night but due to the snow storm I'm now stuck in NYC until tomorrow. So getting this little guy has turned into an unexpected vacation / adventure / chance to hang out with old friends.
  4. @polliwog just got done my appt with Ron. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, but my appointment was only like 3 hrs so keep that in mind. Only part that sucked was a few lines close to the elbow ditch, other than that, not really different from my outer arm.
  5. Makes me happy to see this thread bumped since I've got an appointment with him tomorrow! Too excited to get any work done so I'm just browsing LST all day haha.
  6. Thought this belonged in this thread, slideshow of 20 sheets of 100+ year old flash accompanies the article: A treasure trove of antique tattoo flash is found in Corpus Christi - The Texican
  7. Welcome! That baphomet from your Instagram is awesome.
  8. Well, I'm turned off by men who find tattoos on women to be a turn off. So, looks like it all works out from where I'm standing.
  9. If you're crazy, I am too. A few times I've sketched tattoo ideas on myself with eyeliner pencils and eye shadow. Before I booked my half sleeve I sketched one on myself when I was drunk and bored, made me decide to do it cause I liked how it looked. I'm not a tattoo artist so what I sketch will be different from the final result but it's a fun way to "test drive" the idea and channel my excitement.

    Hey

    Hello and welcome!
  11. I forgot I posted Louie in this thread, haha. Since then I got a dog, she'll be a year old next week. Louie's friends with her now but it took awhile. Bonnie: Bonnie kayaking: (well, taking a break from kayaking)
  12. Lovely tattoo, I really like the color palette.

    Hello

Welcome to LST! Would you post photos of your tattoos? We'd love to see :) Where are you planning to live abroad?
  14. Welcome. Respect for your dedication in going to the artist you really want no matter the money or patience required.
  15. @HettyKet Ah sucks that you aren't close enough! I'll dedicate mine to you. That one you posted is killer. Love how he gives each lady their own personality. @Synesthesia Get all three. Problem solved.
  16. @HettyKet Brad Stevens does my favorite ladies-in-flowers tattoos. Hope to get one some day. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for but similar? http://instagram.com/p/iKb1hJxhoh
  17. Just googled Dave Cummings here at work, let's just say the first result was not exactly what I was looking for. Blown away when I found his actual site though. This eagle is crazy awesome! You must be so excited.
  18. Hey, welcome. That split bug / bee(?) tattoo is really cool.
  19. I love the idea of getting tattooed to commemorate your wedding day. Graeme gave a great list. I'm not sure how close it is to Coney Island but Three Kings in Brooklyn is a great shop.
  20. Welcome! In addition to Liberty you could also check out Ink & Dagger. http://www.inkanddaggertattoo.com/
  21. I have also had some really serious piercing complications that have resulted in horribly gruesome reactions to metals assumed "safe", specifically surgical steel and pure gold. It took me 6 months to even possibly heal a simple ear piercing, and I've only gotten 2 to actually work out of 6+ attempts. BUT, I had absolutely no issue with getting tattooed at all. So, don't lose hope of getting tattooed! The idea if a small trial tattoo is a good one. I just went all in haha. But luckily it turned out fine.
