Rob I got a reaction from Iwar in Latest tattoo lowdown.....
Had a blast at the convention! Was great to meet @polliwog @Fala and was also great seeing @Graeme and @Pugilist. Briefly saw @Shaun1105 which was cool but missed @BrianH due to walking past every booth except the one he was being tattooed at. Feel pretty dumb about that since it was directly behind the one I was hanging out at. Also bummed to have missed seeing Sam whose handle name eludes me at the moment. (Mitslam??)
Got this by Nick Colella on Saturday in the same booth and at the same time as @Graeme was getting an awesome tattoo by Robert Ryan. Absolutley love it and had a great time talking to Nick. Such a great dude and awesome tattooer. This is my first leg tattoo. On the side of my left calf.

I've wanted to tap out about 30 seconds into each session on my back. I didn't of course, but the want was there

The winters may be rough, but New Hampshire is the most free state in the country and one of the most beautiful. I love it here but admit I'd like to spend my summers in Florida.
Best of luck!!! @Boiled Dove

Rob I reacted to a_beukeveld in Tegaderm/Saniderm/Tatuderm healing process
Got 4 tattoos recently. Posting here for info for other people healing with derm and for myself in the future.
Once the tattoos were completed, instead of using Saniderm over night like I normally do, I just used the meat bandages the tattoos gave me. I realized having to take off saniderm after 24 hours and then putting on the final sheet for 5 days really irritated the tattoo.
The next morning I took off the meat bandages, washed them real good with unscented soap, let them air dry for 5 or 10 minutes and applied the saniderm.
To test out how long is best, I left 2 on for 5 days, and the other 2 on for 6 days, counting the day I first put the saniderm on. I always had a problem where the derm would rip off flakes prematurely and either bleed or make them scab, but this didnt happen much at all. The only one that had some rough spots was the giesha on my forearm, which I left on for 5 days. Not sure why. Might have to do with the fact it weeped allot and hardened up. Every part that was having trouble with after the initial derm removal I just put a tiny patch of derm on to keep it from scabbing and they healed up just fine. The Fudo cat on my knee healed PERFECTLY, which I left on for 6 days. Zero bleeding or scabbing. It also had zero fluid buildup, which might have helped.
From now on Im going to do the meat bandage over night, saniderm for six days after that, and small patches on parts that didnt heal well.

We choose to get tattooed. We are not born with it. All choices have consequences good or bad.

Got a call from a recruiter a couple of weeks ago, didn't really think anything would come of it. Now, two phone interviews later they are flying me out to New Hampshire next week for a F2F and likely an offer. Would anyone in their right mind move from Dallas to New Hampshire at the beginning of winter?
Oh my, I'm going to have a decision to make soon. Crazy times.

Clear fluid, also known as lymph, is released during tattoo healing when the interstitial fluid (the fluid which lies in the interstices of all body tissues) is released when healing, it normally contacts then air and crystalizes and creates what we call scabs. Scabs are our bodies natural defence to protect us from infection and to allow our skin to heal itself. When a scab gets pulled off prematurely from an area, it often looks pitted, like yours.
Tattoos go through several phases and looks when healing, before finally settling on healed, which is at least a month, so do not sweat it until then, at that time re-evaluate (it cannot be changed by a tattooer, by tattooing in the mean time anyway).
The default answer is ask your tattooer... they are in a position to know your specific circumstances directly and they were there at the time of the application (hopefully) and may have insight as to why, where, how, et cetera, and can help you correct your conduct, when you need it. A tattooers aftercare is part and parcel, with the procedure they tattoo, according to believing you will take care of the tattoo according to their aftercare advice, if they knew you were going to do something else, they would probably tattoo differently, to accommodate for your special circumstance.
your tattooer will know if that spot required more attention than anywhere else because maybe someone jumped and a correction was needed or.... something else happened. The damage also might have happened downstream, as in you bumped into something, or it super dried out in your sleep or scratched it in your sleep...life happens between application and final healing. A tattoo is like a dance between the tattooer the tattooee, if you both do your part the dance ends well, but if either trips, you both look bad.
considering the above, wait a month then re-evaluate...

Aw, don't do that, @Kracov. It's a very common question – and hopefully we gave you the right answer, which others can learn from too.

@Kracov you clearly have a talent for art. That doesn't always translate to tattoos.
Plus as @Charles.M articulated, you will be extremely unhappy with your tattoos if even the slightest detail is off. This is your artwork and it will be difficult to find someone to replicate it exactly and my guess is that you will find fault and flaws in details that may go unnoticed by others. Think about that. Really think about it. Do you think you would be able to notice slight flaws if someone re-drew your artwork on paper? Yes of course you would. Now imagine it permanently marked in your skin.
Just trying to help.
Btw- I like you artwork. I think it's really good. I can't draw worth shit, but i always admire those that can. It's a gift. One that few have.

Thank you Captain Grammar!
Without grammar nazis how would the peons of the internet know they made a simple grammatical error?
I fixed it for you, and no you cannot look under the floorboards.

@Rob I I was just giving you shit in response to you're joke, but my humor can easily come off as snarky.
I also think its pretty cool the way these tattoos were preserved for the generations(I couldnt do it either, though).
I believe there is a museum of skin like this in japan. I think would be bitchin' to see one day.
I love macabre museums.

You shouldn't have changed it. I was just pointing out that those tattoos, and skin for that matter, are no longer his.
I used to think it was pretty cool to have tattoos preserved for generations to admire and still think it's kinda cool to be able to see it but it's the one thing you CAN take with you to the grave. I can't imagine i would ever consent to it.
Anyway, not trying to be grammar police. I was just trying to be funny. @Ducky15568

Here is tattooed skin from the 19th century, it belonged to a french soldier (hundreds of skins like this were preserved).
The Top depicts images of a nautical star, a lady head, and 'D’amour' in script; which means 'my love.'

Hopefully finishing up my Jondix/Chad collabo back piece next Wednesday 10/19. Appointment with Chad at State of Grace! haven't been tattooed there since 2010, so i'm excited to feel that vibe again. Dreading more pain on the back, but hopeful it's the last time!
