  4. Trying to sleep last night with a fresh knee cap tattoo I learned something new..a cotton sheet can feel like it weighs ten pounds.
  5. Wonderful.....Remind me again why on earth we do this to ourselves?
  6. So far for me it has to be knee caps, but I start my back piece in a few months so I'm sure my perspective will change. I'm hoping my back will not be like my knees but from what I've been told it will be.

  15. Just visited Portland and was able to score a walk in at Acme Tattoo. Ross Ferrie put a great panther head on my knee. Not only a great tattoo but a truely awesome time at the shop! I cannot speak highly enough of the great time I had there. A top notch first class shop. Will definately make a return trip. Pic is in my gallery, IPhone not letting me put in post.
  16. Thanks! Now much to my wife's dismay there are two of us that like it.
  17. My very first (24 years ago!). It was flash on the wall and the only thing I could afford. I sat down in that chair and thought I was the coolest thing ever. It was the closest tattoo I could find that looked like the Expolited logo and it matched my haircut at the time. As bad as it is, I can't bring myself to cover it up. So sentimental still....

  20. I will definitely stop by your shop Acme, the tattoos posted on line from there look great. Probably sometime in March, I'll come by before that to book and leave deposit. And thanks for the flight tips. Chicago is going to happen no matter what and every penny saved on air fare equals more chair time.
  21. In the Seattle area there is Aaron Bell's Slave to the Needle. I have seen very impressive stuff coming out of there. Down in Tacoma there is Tim McCarthy's Tsunami Tattoo, I have spent lots of hours there in the chair and have hours more planned. Also in Tacoma there is Scott Schafer's Flaming Dragon Tattoo. I just got back from getting my first from that shop, David Wach did a traditional skull/dagger and I left very happy and will be going back.
  22. I have family in Portland so I can make a few trips, planning now on Craig Brown at Historic (he used to work in the shop I go to up here in WA) and would like to check out other shops too. In Chicago I am hoping that I can schedule with Nick Colella, I am planning on going this summer. And in Oakland I would love to go to Freddy Corbin, I'll do about anything travel time wise to make that happen (flights to CA not too pricey from here, Chicago is a fortune though)
  23. This is something I have thought about quite a bit. Except for my first 4 tattoos (all done by a tattooer who has since passed away) I have only been tattooed by the same guy for 10 years. I always felt that if I went somewhere else I would feel guilty for having someone else tattoo me. Silly as it is it I felt bad about it. Since coming to this forum and seeing how much is out there I decided to have one of my legs tattooed by all different tattooers, a single piece from many. Already started but the first one done was from my usual guy. Seemed like a good way to kick it off. Next is a trip to another local shop, then Portland, Chicago and Oakland this year.
  24. My wife has no tattoos. She has never had a problem with me continuing to get tattoos, except once when she asked, "Why another skull, don't you have enough" (answer: never can have enough). I always thought she was just tolerating my tattoos. But this past weekend she went from tolerating to supportive. When I found this forum I learned more about tattoos than I had learned in years of being tattooed. There is a whole nation of amazing tattooers out there and i have to visit as many as i can. So I told her I wanted to start traveling for tattoos. She said great, where are we going first? Life is good.
