I used to cover up at work, I worked for a VERY conservative church as an office manager, I had to interact with food pantry/ clothing closet clients on a daily basis. We were told to dress nicely but not "superior". So things like jeans with no holes and a polo shirt were ok. No visible tattoos or piercings.
Well the ac died in the building and it was 105 outside, so I wore a skirt and a nice shirt forgetting about the policy. I have my calf done as well as my foot. I showed up to work that day and so did the board. After seeing that my tattoos were not offensive, and they were actually a good talking point between myself and some of our regulars, they amended the policy.
I realize this is the exception, I never in a million years would have thought they would amend the policy, in fact I was preparing to be fired.
Now I work in a bakery, but don't deal with clients anymore, you can see my newly acquired back piece through my chef coat, but no one seems to care.

Next week, I start my last semester as an undergrad. I'm ecstatic. Now, I just need to figure out what I want to do before I apply to PhD programs. I am happy that I decided to take a break to get some more work experience, etc. Not stressing over grad school has enabled me to take time to consider what is important to me and to focus on other aspects of my life.

I have started the next phase of my medical training - moving from student to intern! It scares the bejeebus out of me that I am now having to be responsible for real patients. First overnight on-call shift is Monday, which I anticipate will be both interesting and completely overwhelming.

Reviving this thread partly 'cause I love it, partly because I have something to add in terms of awesome things I've done recently. This afternoon I successfully defended my PhD! Yikes! I am still kind of wrapping my head around the enormity of it, and so spewing my crazy wired energy wherever I can. :)

So I love these threads on other enthusiast sites I frequent. I wanna get one going for us here at LST.
...when you have white sheets that are now multi-colored
...when you heard the word sailor and don't think of ships
...when the smell of green soap and buzzing makes you excited
...you vacations are planned around what shops are in the area
    what ones you guys got?

This thread is excellent. I hope I can squeeze my next pimple into a full rib panel of Japanese tigers. What a time-saver it would be! I'll goop up my side with some vaseline and crappy Dove skin cream and tape on a printout of @hogg's Lehi tigers for reference.

The other day I was looking at Shiges' site and saw this photo

I then realised that this client must have the same concerns and considerations for his artist as @hogg does ;)
Shige to client "Lets get a photo of your chest piece and sleeves" Client to Shige "Just let me take off my pants"... lol.
(yes I am aware that on shiges' site you can see that the same client was getting photos of his backpiece at the same time... but for the purposes of hilarity we won't acknowledge that)

Well, its kinda funny you mention that, my Dad is going to go in with me to get a new tattoo (first since 1957) pretty soon and he is 74...so maybe I will end up with at least hands...I could get knuckles that said AARP LIFE or something...

When I get a pimple I usually squeeze the heck out of it and can't leave it alone, it ends up massive. On that basis I recommend squeezing the heck out of it and you might end up with a full back piece.

As a fat woman: fuck body hate, get tattooed.
To elaborate: being both fat and disabled, I've had issues with my body for a long time. The act of getting tattooed (facing a chronic pain and sensitivity problem) and the act of BEING visibly tattooed is, for me, extremely empowering. I'm not the typical "hot tattooed chick", and it is glorious. It's a way to take back this vessel I've been cursed/blessed with, and to feel more comfortable going through life in it.
    Plus, tattoos are awesome.
