I think to some degree you have a point. At some point you probably would come across the "you don't love me more than tattoos" argument. I will try to say this without sounding like a chauvinist pig, but the problem I find is most of the girls I find that are truly are into tattoos are tattooers are tattoo collecters and they are so few of them, there are plenty of girls who have tons of tattoos, but they are either groupies who only date tattooers (Nothing like a STD from your competition) or part of a scene or they just have tattoos and maybe aren't that into hanging in shops or studying tattooing. I guess my point is I think if you find someone who can understand your passion and maybe has one of thier own, even if that passion isn't tattooing it could work out just as well.

yeah... but in my mind, men without tattoos just aren't as *hot* as men with!!! They don't even have to be good tattoos (although good is better!!)

I just don't find plainskin men as sexy. (blame it on my very first boyfriend "punk rock Chris" LOL!!)

I think what looks nice on ladies is either a neckline of roses or else a bird with outstretched wings.

Birds and roses are pretty, sure, but why should we have to limit ourselves to stuff that's "pretty"??

I have this really bad - not just a twitch or a little jump sometimes - an honest to goodness kick. (it's a symptom of the larger leg problem)

Anyway, I always give my tattooer a heads up about it and every one of them has reassured me that they can handle it, that pretty much everybody twitches a little bit here and there, and it's not a big deal.

And so far (knock wood) I haven't jerked at just the wrong moment and screwed things up! (but I do still worry about that *one* time that I end up with some crazy line jutting out from an eyeball or something!!)

I'm new here, and pretty much joined after reading every post in this thread (and you guys scared the heck out of me). I have been tattooed on my arms and chest, and the healing process was very easy., I have decided I want to get leg work done. that's how i got here, and read all the stories of long durations of swelling and pain (yikes).

I have an appointment next week for my first piece on my shin right under my knee. I work the next day after I get the tattoo, a 12 hour shift where I'm on my feet for at least 10 hours and I have to be very mobile. Will it be possible for me to stand and walk that long? Is it best to reschedule and try to do it on a time when I have more days off from work?

I've gotten a couple few on my calves lately and I *always* take the next day off to baby my leg a little bit.

Not to say that it's IMPOSSIBLE for you to work 12 hours the day after... but I wouldn't want to do it.

I think it went more like "Hey! That's on you?!?! I saw that on Instagram!!!"

As a 48 year old woman (with a 72 year old mother) I can say that the skin on my chest has degraded quite a bit and the skin on my mother's chest has degraded quite a bit more. By degraded I mean it is spotty with dark spots that have too much pigmentation and white spots that have lost pigmentation plus a general redness for some unknown reason probably having to do with being of Scandanavian descent and living in California. Not sure what that would mean for a tattoo, but more does happen to the chest than just sagging of tits.

The aging skin issues are the same for men though too...

on that note, even men get sagging tits when they're old enough ;)

I never have a warm and fuzzy feeling in a tattoo shop. Generally that is because I am laying down half clothed, with a man about to slowly stab me for a few hours.

@else I agree, sometimes it feels like a dirty word. I think it was used negatively in one or two of the last sparrow interviews and I would like to hear an artist's perspective on clients who travel to collect from a variety of artists. Are we a pain in the ass?

During my 4 most recent tattoos the tattooer has mentioned feeling a little more pressure, a little anxiety even, about putting something next to or near the other tattoos I have.

Maybe I should get a couple bad ones to put them at ease!!! ;)

When I was getting my snake yesterday both Paco and another tattooer that was there referred to me as a "tattoo collector".

To be frank, I was a little startled by it!

I haven't thought of myself as a "collector" at all... Just a person who likes tattoos, has gotten some, and intends to get more!! LOL!!

What constitutes a "collector"?

What does that really mean?

I'm not sure that I'm comfortable with the title. But I'm not sure exactly where that discomfort comes from.

This might well be tmi but I'm not very large breasted at all so my thinking is this may cause slightly less 'distortion' to the piece as I age ?!

As a side effect of my work I've seen the fronts of many, many an aged woman and I'd have to say that you're out of luck here. Gravity will win in the end every time.

If Scott R was at home when it hit he should be fine... this was close to him, but not quite right where he's at.

I'm in Texas right now but my family and home are in Oklahoma - all of my people are well and accounted for, but it wasn't until late, late in the night last night that I knew for sure.

There are a few other Okies here... I hope they were all as fortunate as I was.
