  1. I think that the author of that site is extremely far outside the christian mainstream in likely all of his thoughts (ramblings). The main page has a counter for how many people have died since you opened it. And this guy is trying to tell you that the 1611 King James Bible is the best and most accurate translation, which is ridiculous. Here is an example of a guy that is anti-tattoo, but MUCH more reasonable and I think closer to the North American mainstream 'christian' position. It's a pretty long video. Has a 'repented tattooer' in it though who some might find interesting. " I publicly identify myself as a 'christian', but I guess the thing is that being a christian doesn't really have a set of rules to follow other than "Love God, and Love Your Neighbor"*. The entire concept of becoming a christian was meant set people free from oppressive rules! Unfortunately, people seem to love rules - or perhaps I should say that they love to rule over others - and as a result you end up with a laundry list of stuff christians aren't supposed to do that really have little to no basis in anything the bible says. Don't dance, don't drink, don't play cards, don't wear shorts, don't wear pants (for ladies), ladies don't cut your hair, guys always cut your hair, no buttons on your shirts, no watching TV, no cars that aren't black, no cars at all.... I could go on all night! Oh, and certainly no offense taken! * upon further thought I will also concede "be baptized" and "have communion" as something like 'rules' for christians.
  2. I'd like to nominate Skinworks as the classic bad example of this. It's the name of the only shop in my little city in Ontario (and it's called Skinworks Studio so it additionally fails on the "tattoo" requirement). Along with variants like Skinworkz, Skinworx, Skin Works, etc., it is also the name of shops in: Louisiana California Ohio Alabama Georgia New York Ireland Australia Phillipines Costa Rica Greece and the Netherlands The work in them ranges from well below average to pretty good (for it's style). A lot of really terrible websites among them as well.
  3. This is the tattoo I ended up getting instead of a verse done in text. Hebrews 6:19-7:2 would be the reference. When I thought of it I didn't really realize that anchor tattoos were so common, but I realize it's a classic image so I'm glad I went with it anyway. Done by Chris Lombardi at Hand of Doom Tattoo in Buffalo, NY.
  4. That's exactly what I was planning to get for my first tattoo! I was even in the process of rereading the New Testament with a highlighter looking for good options to fit on my left chest. Luckily the Internet saved me and taught me about good tattoos. I would be quite upset now if I had used up my chest on text! I will post a pic of what I did end up getting when I can get to my computer.
  5. Did just fine myself, I still have tomorrow at my dad's place to go. - Amazon gift cards - gloves - Candy, of course; 1kg of wine gums being the highlight. - scratch tickets, (won $50, woot!) - selection of bbq rubs and hot sauces - bike accessories Getting gifts is fun, obviously, but getting together with family is what's really important. Seeing how excited my kids get is the best. Oh, and also the celebration of the advent of jesus is a big deal too :)
  6. I just took a look at the list I keep of artists I would like to be tattooed by and it's at like 25+, but if I had to choose my current favorites I think I'd go with the oft-mentioned Ron Henry Wells, and also Robert Ryan, Herb Auerbach and Samuele Briganti.
  7. Hi, my name is Shaun, I live in Niagara region of Ontario, Canada. I've heard of this forum before and even watched a few of the interview videos but haven't ever felt I should join. That is until this week when I saw a post by Our Endless Days who runs what is statistically my favorite tattoo tumblr (by reblogs and likes). Since deciding early last year that I was finally getting a tattoo (at age 34) I must say it's become a mild obsession. I have two tattoos so far (by Chris Lombardi and Franz Stefanik respectively) and my next is booked for May (with Joe Ellis at Lab Monkey in Scotland). Tumblr is how I learned most of what I know about tattoos so far. My original plan was to get a bunch of text somewhere like my chest (a bible verse) but reading dermagraphique and fuckoffshittattoos dissuaded me from that course. I'm a now a big fan of traditional tattoos. I keep a tumblr blog of my own to that effect - Steadfast and Sure, and I also have a couple subsidiary tattoo related ones - fuckyeahpharaohshorses and thatsanicechestpiece. Because someday I'd like to have get a Pharaoh's Horses tattoo and also an Epic Chest Piece, of course. I'm looking forward to reading more of this forum and learning more. Just today I've already learned a lot about making fun of hipsters. Oh, and also I learned the term "Battle Royale" as it relates to tattoos, which is pretty awesome actually. SS
