In addition to being honest with her up front, I would also emphasize to her that, if she chooses to come with you, she is merely there as an observer. That She isn't there to play any role is the decision making process (i.e. no complaining about the size!). If she can accept that before even going into the shop, the tattooer won't have to deal with any sort of spousal disagreements, which is good because, let's be honest, that shit is awkward to witness.

Ron Henry Wells just announced that he's attending the Philly convention, so even though I'm already getting a decent sized piece, I emailed him. I just had to. I'm a little nervous because these will only be my second and hopefully third tattoos, but, you know, fuck it.

Not that I know anyone or have any rapport on this site, but I'll be at the convention on Friday and possibly Saturday. I'm going to be getting a reaper on the side on my thigh from Richard Smith of Thicker Than Water/Jersey City Tattoo Co., and I hope to get a little something from Mike Adams and/or Josh Stephens as well. There are so many great tattooers attending that it's frustrating not being able to get tattooed by all of them...I guess there's always next year! Hope to see you there! -
I'm hoping to get tattooed by Mike at the Philly convention next month. He's only doing walk-up stuff here, no appointments. Richard Smith is going to do some sort of mystical-themed reaper on the side of my thigh at the convention, also...super stoked for that.
