  1. I was really struggling to not say anything about this and leave it be but...

I'll be devils advocate here.. while I agree that being a scratcher isn't an ideal way to tattoo to say the least. I've been tattooed by some of the greats in the world . Not going to say who but I'm sure you can guess by the tattoos I got. He was once a at home tattooer. Now he's on of the best in his area... I also know of a particular shop owner who has one of the best shops in NYC that started that way..

Most of the well respected people that are interviewed on this site started at home, you have to start somewhere right? That being said you have a very LONG way to go learn some history get tattooed (Inksmith & Rogers is in your town and there one of the best shops in the world) and for fucks sake don't call it a tattoo gun! I respect anyone who will follow their dreams even if it starts out the wrong way, but before you think of owning a shop, you better get in a shop, learn the culture and respect those who came before you.

  2. Go to Elm St.! I'm trying like hell to save some money to get tattooed there. I don't think you can wrong with anybody there. And that convention they're throwing for Fri. the 13th mentioned above is filled with the best in the business. I'm bummed I can't go, so you go, get some bad ass tats, and let me live vicariously through you! Ok? good!

  3. You should definitely get tattooed by Dana if you do get the opportunity.....I think he's been at it 42 years now if my memory serves me right!

His son Jason does some really nice work as well.....as does his wife Dot

PLUS.......there is some real history all over the walls of the Cincinnati shop!

(I have never been over the river to the Covington shop)

    :)

The Cincinnati shop is awesome. I've been tattooed there twice. I will definitely be going to see dana soon

  4. I plan on getting up to Chicago by the end of the year. I'm having trouble deciding on who to get tattooed by as well. Mario for sure, and I really want to get tattooed by Erik Gillespie but ity's going to be hard to go to Chicago and not get tattooed by Nick Colella again. He's so good (and so fast great for out of towners, he'll have ya in and out)

  5. That's a really nice, classic piece. Freddy is great. Going there to try and drop-in and also make an appointment at the same time. Was going to get a black and grey dagger + rose from Freddy.

Do it man! You'll have a badass tattoo and a great experience.

    Nice one!!

Thanks man. With the BART strike and shit we got in and out of Oakland as fast as possible so I didn't get to see much of the city but temple was super cool. Ill be back to temple and Oakland some day soon.

  6. ppl say it will look weird

Take the idea to the artist and have them work with it. If it's a good artist it won't look weird. Promise. Or just do the other leg haha.

  7. Ha!! That's makin' me think that there's no f*ckin' way I'm getting my feet done! :)

I was thinking the same thing! I'm still getting my feet done though. Might just put it off a little longer

  8. I like the idea of anniversary tattoos done by Freddy Corbin!! A great gift, IMHO. Awesome setting (SF), awesome tattooist (Freddy Corbin), perfect occasion (your one and only first anniversary, right?!?). Talk her into it!! :) :) :)

I like the way you think! That's a damn good idea. Anything she wants, how could she turn that down?!

  9. You should really try and make it happen, even if it's just a little bit of lettering, getting tattooed by Freddy Corbin is a not-to-be-missed good time. How about a little something for the wife?

I was actually hoping to get a little sacred heart on my wrist from Freddy. Let him do it however he wants. Or some lettering. My wife has tattoos and I'm sure will get more but she's not a freak about it like me. She's knows she can always get tattooed anytime she wants and I encourage it but I don't think she's as quick to cover herself as fast as I am. I'm just thankful she always supports me but is also the voice of financial reason! She's the smart one, and I am the impulsive one. Maybe I can talk her into matching tattoos. It is our 1 year anniversary trip!

  10. @KYboy I am stoked for you! Where are you getting tattooed?!? Congrats on getting your first in such an awesome locale!

I meant my first time getting tattooed in San Francisco, not in general, my bad for awkward wording. I'm getting tattooed at Blackheart w/ Scott, and I am currently trying to talk my wife into letting me make an appointment w/ Freddy Corbin! We're ballin on a budget so not to sure if ill be able to swing it but I'm going to try like hell. Idk when ill make it back out to the city and there's too many good tattooers to choose from

  11. After my first tattoo I was nothing but pumped. I knew I wanted tattoos at like 5, and waited until like 19, so when I finally did I was pumped. I do however always get anxiety to tell my parents. I am getting heavily tattooed and still will wear long sleeves around my parents and hide a new one from them for as long as I can. Going past the elbow was a big deal for me too. I'm glad I finally did because I love my tattoos but I thought about it a good long while before deciding on doing it. I knew I was going past the elbow eventually so I just said fuck it let's do it!
