Petri Aspvik got a reaction from CultExciter in Book thread
Yeah, it wasn't me man :P. I'm big on biographies and shit like that. Currently Im reading Blood in the Cage: Mixed Martial Arts, Pat Miletich, and the Furious Rise of the UFC, because I love stuff like this!
Talking about Biographies, I have read Education of a Felon: A Memoir by Edward Bunker like six times. Its fucking amazing.
My all time favorite books are (besides Education) perhaps
Neil Gaiman - American Gods (It is just magical, in all sense of the word, magic.)
Noah Levine - Dharma Punx (It helped me)
Carl Sagan - The Demon Haunted World: Science as a candle in the dark (cleared the cobwebs)
Richard Matheson - I am legend and Cormac McCarthy - The Road (both dense, close as skin)
Hmmmm. Shit, cant remember more. Oh! Marilyn Manson - The Long hard road out of Hell. Hail Satan.
I really havent read any real classic classics. They bore me. For example, Jack Kerouac On the Road. Well, Ithink Henry Rollins said it best.
“Kerouac, what a pussy,”
:D

Petri Aspvik got a reaction from Bunny Switchblade in Tattoo Culture Magazine
Really a breath of fresh air! No "hot" women on the cover (I have the internet, there's porn), articles will have actual depth (it HAS depth, just not any technical stuff) and all the artist will actually be good. And you can really sit down with it and read it. Not skim it while taking a shit (unless you have a laptop. Or one of those other gadgets that youngsters have..). Quality!
How come it hasn't been done before...

Petri Aspvik reacted to Jojo Ackermann in Huck Spaulding R.I.P
Well all i can say is weather you agreed with Huck as a business man or not he was a huge part of the tattoo world and for that we all can agree. Some hated him because he was the biggest tattoo supplier name for years and years with advertisement in almost every magazine selling starter kits and what seems to have become the blue print to shops and stores that are now selling supplies with no inhibitions. Others knew him as the ex-business partner of the late Paul Rogers and also have an opinion of him from those stories, but many of us were in the Spaulding starter kit generation and the book A-Z was a large part of our beginning into the tattoo world. so it seems that no matter what side you were on in the world where Huck Spaulding was we have indeed lost a huge part of an older tattoo world and with that said, R.I.P. Huck.

Petri Aspvik reacted to Ismael in Face tatty's like whoa
She will regret it. Doing a tattoo based on strong emotions is always not the best idea.
She wants to tattoo his name on her face now, in a few months she would be happy with just a heart with his name on it, after that she would be glad with only his name on her wrist, and maybe given enough time she would tattoo a severed head resembling him with the words bastard. All this to say that emotions change, so called love most of all, but tattoos stay forever.
Maybe I'm being too much of a cynic, but I believe she will indeed regret it, and that this guy should not be allowed to tattoo no one else ever again.

Petri Aspvik reacted to Dan S in Face tatty's like whoa
Not another single visible tattoo, yet she gets her face inked, and inked in a way to guarantee her trouble in about any city.
Oh yeah.
I'm sorry if it makes me old, or lame, or judgmental, but the tattooer that dreamed this up should be shot.

Petri Aspvik reacted to Graeme in Tattoo Culture Magazine
It's basically unreadable on my phone because it's laid out like a proper magazine and so everything is way too small. It does look very promising, however. The Robert Ryan interview seems to be a reprint of the one @Petri Aspvik did for TAM #23 (which I bought a copy of at the Montreal convention last year) and in my opinion, that is great because the TAM interviews I've been fortunate enough to read are fantastic because they are actually really substantial and insightful and I think that people who aren't tattooers but who are seriously interested in tattoos can learn a lot from them, and I am thrilled that I have a chance to read these. There's an interview with @Bunny Switchblade in there too, which is super cool. @Guen Douglas has an article in there on how to look at portfolios...not sure if it's the same article she wrote for TAM, but regardless, it is great that these things are getting out there.
And yeah, I way prefer paper to screens, but this is still rad.
