  1. More on my back tomorrow. Not stoked about it. Because the composition of the tattoo is so linear and symmetrical, we've basically been filling it in from the top down, and right now we are stuck in the waist/kidney area. Based on the level of detail and the rate I have been sitting, we probably have two more sessions in that area. Kill me, haha!!
  2. @ironchef WOW!!!!! Congratulations!! That is truly incredible, you must feel so accomplished and proud. What an endeavor! That is truly a bold, dynamic, impressive, powerful, and intricate work you have. Truly amazing. ?
  3. Official notice that I will be attending Saturday only and will probably be hanging out most of the day. Super down to meet up with folks for food/drinks. If knowing what I look like makes things easier, there is a picture on instagram @handoftheforge
  4. Opaque grey is actually black mixed with white pigment, diluted black is just greywash. greywash: opaque grey:
  5. @marley mission dude!! Epic! Was oogling that on ig yesterday, figures  @Iwar thank you! Hey, anything you want from the convention this year?
  6. That Mike Tyson pidgeon is fuckin DOPE Anyway, I can't find it within me to hate on Jon Boy. I mean for all intents and purposes it's not like they're bad tattoos so at least there's that, plus I'm sure the dude is making a fuckload of cash so I can't really hate on that either. It's just that as a tattooer, I cannot possibly imagine how that is rewarding work in any capacity. I like doing small tattoos as much as anyone else, but when there is no challenge to progress and do better, where is the gratification? I'll take my fairly short wait list and Oakland prices over that shit all day long.
  7. @Petri Aspvik @kimkong @sourpussoctopus Man, thank you guys a ton!! Y'all rule :)
  8. @jen7 whoa. Major props, you are an amazon warrior goddess o___o
  9. @CultExciter Dude, Dave's tattoos rip. I am so into the cat ladies and as someone who doesn't really like purple in tattoos, nobody makes me enjoy purple more than Dave Regan. And there is something really magical about Gordon's tattoos. Having got to work with him briefly earlier in the year I can definitely say that the dude is naturally gifted and draws pretty effortlessly. @el twe UGGHGHHHGH SEE?!?
  10. I can't explain why this one had such an impact, but it really struck me. By Troy Trujillo
  11. @sophistre Thanks lady! I didn't think I was going to either and I definitely don't want to do the rest of my chest, but it felt right so I went for it. I do want to do my stomach though and feel like having untattooed boobs would look weird but I can't think of a single thing that would look good on boobs that's not flowers. #tattooproblems
  12. @Graeme Thank you! I am trying to make that my modus operandi of getting tattooed. I'm totally obsessed with this one n___n
  13. I also got tattooed whilst in the middle of a visit from Aunt Flo like.. a month ago, and it was a backpiece session, and yeah. It sucked. u____u Dunno how I went so long with that never happening before though -shrug-
  14. piss poor excuse for a picture of the actual tattoo, I'll get you guys a better one when it's healed and not completely crusty. Freddy Corbin, Temple Tattoo Oakland
  15. I think about this stuff too. Just use your best judgement and don't compromise your beliefs for money. If you're not going to lose sleep over it, go nuts.
  16. I totally didn't think the kneecap was bad! The inside kinda sucks but the actual bone is pretty alright.. The webbing of your fingers is kinda shitty though!!
  17. I would look into getting that snake fixed up, that thing has a lot of potential to be a super cool tattoo. Something super bold and dynamic would be great.
  18. @mmikaoj damn, that sounds like a great tattoo! I take pictures have already been posted. :) But yes, the transference is absolutely a thing. Robert Ryan wrote a lengthy article in TAM (or maybe it was an interview) talking about that topic and the effect that the subject matter of a tattoo has on the client and the tattooer.
  19. Ha, right? That's mainly why I like to tattoo a variety of subject matter, I definitely consciously or subconsciously take a piece of my clients and their tattoos home with me at the end of the day. I definitely feel like that transference for me is a real thing and have compared similar experiences with most of my coworkers.
  20. Most of what I post isn't so consistently death oriented, but I can and do love to tattoo in that style about 90% of the time. http://instagram.com/handoftheforge
  21. @el twe Yes! I love Gordon, that looks awesome! @Diehardonvhs ahh that's gorgeous, wow
  22. Haha O'Donnell just reposted something that Seth Ciferri reposted that the petition starter is working with legislators. I don't think either of those artists are directly involved, although it is killer that someone is actually stepping up to work with the politicians.
