  1. never mind, too much trouble to be here,it's not worth it to me.life is full of enough crap. I just came here for some friendly conversation,I can see that's not going to happen.

  4. nevermind,I guess that's what I get for posting after a bunch of beers LOL
  5. I looked at some other online discussion tattoo forums for a while, and most of them were just filled with negative rude people, online discussion forums are not new to me,I have belonged to computer/home theater/audio video/canine,etc,etc,a couple for 10 years now, so thanks to all here for making this one a friendly, enjoyable,& comfortable place to hangout.
  6. me too,one of my passions is the culinary world,I would love to try the food there, and I also just love the ancient culture of the place & it's beautiful climates and jungle.
  7. not an idea for you, this is just what I have. my mom got sick with cancer in November of 1994,she passed away in January 95,you can see the date,I got the heart/banner/MOM while she was still alive so she saw it,then I added the RIP & date of course after she passed away,it took her fast. :( it's very old & very traditional ,my arm tattoos aren't "world class",but their mine and I like 'em.
  8. we get plenty of work done when we go to the islands, 1)make the tattoo appt the last day you are there 2)slather on the sunscreen & stay out of the sun the entire time before the tattoo(main idea is,any artist should not and will not tattoo red skin.) hell,I go to Maui & Kauai 2 times a year, and I don't like the sun ! even if I'm not going to get a tattoo,I still use SPF50 everyday on the islands. I even bring my own beach shade umbrella and use that,or I find a tree to sit under.I generally try and stay out of the sun. I even use it here at home too, daily ! I work outdoors and I put it on if I am going to be in the sun,the sun is bad for any skin, especially bad for tattoos.
  9. I bought some of the Coppertone tattoo blend and did a little research on it. it is similar in chemical makeup to Coppertone "sensitive skin/faces" SPF50 sunscreen,it has Zinc Oxide, and it has no Oxybenzone, which makes it a little different & better for tattooed skin than most sunscreens. http://www.thedailygreen.com/environmental-news/latest/oxybenzone-sunscreen-ingredient http://consults.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/10/what-to-look-for-in-a-sunscreen/
  10. no,I can't say that tattoos have changed my life really, I've always been an outgoing confident person, having tattoos has been fun, because it's made me a little different than many people I encounter and that is the fun part of having tattoos IMO, I like the attention and stares, etc, etc that having tattoos causes in public, what I can say is (since I have been getting tattoos for probably 30 years now) is that my life has changed the tattoos I get,it's been an evolutionary process, constantly changing, and my tattoos are a road map of my life, including people, places,& experiences that I have encountered along this crazy trip we call life.
  11. yesterday we went to our annual family reunion in El Dorado Hills, great time for sure !
  12. my wife & myself in Maui in March this year
  13. the only two places I wouldn't get tattooed is my face and my penis/balls
  14. from my own personal experience, the answer is no to growing out of it,I am still getting tattoos, and I have been since I was about 25,I'm 53 now and don't see stopping this obsession anytime soon. it IS addicting. but you're also right that there is no hurry,at least for you,
  15. thanks,actually I've got some qualudes left from the 70's,maybe I'll try that ! . . . . . . . . . . . LOL really though,maybe I am tensing up too much, I am going back on 06/07 to get some touchup on my ankles,I'll try your "relaxing/meditation trick :D & maybe a beer or 2 will help :D seriously ,I'm glad someone else gets it too.thanks !
  16. I have tattoos on both arms ,my neck, and both legs from the knee down, I can control the pain factor pretty well like most of you I'm sure, my problem/question is this,on my legs, especially lower on my legs when getting work done,I get these involuntary jerks of my leg, it's not pain,it's like when the needles hit the right spot my leg jerks, I feel terrible for my tattooer,I have a real hard time stopping it,if I press my leg down and curl my toes it helps a little, but WTF ? it never happens on my arms or neck.
  17. I never ask how much the tattoo will be,it is what it is,I go to the same 2 artists in my area and I trust them and their work,it does'nt matter to me what it costs if it's what I want and done right. I usually pay with a visa and ALWAYS tip 25%,usually I bring enough cash for a tip and pay for the tattoo with plastic,I like to run everything through my Alaska card to get the miles. you know what they say ! "if you have to ask how much, you probably can't afford it" (or it's gonna turn out too small) I also always bring at least a $20 bill for "touchup" tip money.
