  1. This has been a really interesting thread to scroll through. Great comments by both haters and lovers. `LST...where the haters are lovers too` ;) anomaly1964...best wishes. You have good advice to ponder. Dig in.
  2. I have to miss Montreal again this year. Disappointed but, looking forward to seeing lots of pics. The 'latest lowdown' thread has been a bit slow lately. That will change around mid September I'm sure.
  3. Hey @Mick Weder, thanks for asking. Yeah, I play blues and things closely related. It's fun;) This band is a cool mash up of blues/60s soul/gospel/new orleans funk.....whatever....fuck labels.....it's cool. The band's official site is here Jon Knight and Soulstack If you care to, search Youtube for "Jon Knight and Soulstack" or just "Soulstack". There's a good bunch of vids. Cheers !
  4. Procrastinating, drinking wine and reading through the past few weeks of this thread is the most recent awesome thing I've done ;) I'm coming off a fabulous weekend of playing music with good friends on a little road trip to Quebec. Our second stop was Donnacona, QC. Nice little town with an awesome blues festival. We played there last year on the main stage but, this year we were booked in a club for a late show. When we arrived, we found out that, with our consent (we consented like motherfuckers lol), we were being filmed for television by TVA, which is a national French language channel in Canada. It went really well and is set to be broadcast nationally in October. We lucked out. They had intended to film the outdoor stage but, decided on an indoor venue due to rain. The promoter recommended that they film us. Very sweet deal. As an aside, the only other time that I've posted in this thread was around this time last year after a trip to Quebec with the same band. Playing in Quebec just plain rules. Last year I was blessed to have a brief but lovely meeting with one of my idols, Johnny Winter. That is one of the most awesome things that has ever happened to me.
  5. My prediction is, the tiger wins ;) That is just stunning dude. Congrats !
  6. I just happened upon this clip as it was linked on the Pearl Harbor Gift Shop website. So cool !
  7. Having a hard time not staring at this. It's been 5-7 minutes now lol ;D F'in wow...
  8. Super cool @Mark Bee. I've been really digging on Franz's work lately too. So bold. His lines are like magic marker thick lol The brand new tattoos look old, and I mean that in the most positive way :) Congrats !
  9. Looks like Tim beat ya to it @Mark Bee ;) Very cool !
  10. Good on ya @MadeIndelible ! More positive thoughts coming at ya from over here. Your current struggles will become benign memories before long. Stay strong. It's worth it !
  11. Have been enjoying this thread and while I have no new tattoos to show off, I do have a new cat :) Eva is a little over a year old and has been with me for a few months now. She owned the place within a couple of weeks, of course. I got her from a friend who could no longer keep her. I had lived with cats before but never had one that was my own. I had been thinking semi-seriously for a while about getting one and decided to save this little girl from an uncertain future. Aside from being cute as hell, she came with skills too. She is the queen of the tinfoil ball and actually fetches ! Not unheard of, I know but, it's cool ! Makes my job so much easier ha ha ......
  12. Woah ! I'm in ! Hahaha !!!! In all seriousness, if the gods of finance smile on me this summer, I hope to attend this year. I was disappointed not to be able to make it last year. I wish the artist list on the various sites was a little more coherent. So far I'm looking for Mike Wilson, Aaron Coleman (the panther killers!) Steve Boltz and Valerie Vargas.
  13. That is just stunning @Mick Weder. Your portfolio is jaw dropping. Not sure I've seen anything like it. Of course he is retired. You wore the poor man out haha...Thanks for sharing.
  14. Thought it would be cool to bump this up. If this has been posted elsewhere, I apologize. Just happened upon this last night. I've known the name Joe Prokopowitz since I was a kid. He was pretty much the only, or at least best known, above ground tattooer in this little corner of southwestern Ontario (Kitchener/Cambridge/Guelph) for many years up to the late 70's. I remember fantasizing about getting a tattoo as a kid and looking at the one listing under "Tattooing" in the yellow pages. Right between "Tarps" and "Taxidermy". Hahaha.... No shit ! ;) I saw lots of his work as a kid on cool older kids and bikers. I had a friend in high school that grew a full beard at 15 and got tattooed by Joe. And I still know some people with some his work from way back. The bold has 'holded' lol Always wanted to get something from him but never did. Shame on me. So,this was a cool read for me. The only info I could previously find on him was a small blurb on a local Navy Veterans Club website. Joe Prokopowicz | Canada's Original Tattooist This blog also has an article on Bill Baker, which is very cool. It is pretty much a rewrite of the Swallows and Daggers interview with Bill with a few extra anecdotes. A good read if you haven't read the interview but, I highly recommend the interview. If you don't know Bill Baker, you should :)
  15. I think you should toss that into a tattoo of the month contest... [/MENTION] - you can so get a crawling panther. If there's one thing Last Sparrow has taught me it's that everyone can get a crawling panther. ....and thanks for that. I do feel better now :)
  16. Yeah, ya know what? The more I look at it, the more jealous I am becoming ! ;) Damn man ! That is so awesome. I have wanted a crawling panther for a long time now. But, not sure I can get one now because, it'll have to live up to that one LOL So awesome @Shaun1105 .
  17. Seriously jealous !!!! But happy for ya. That kills man! Congrats!
  18. I believe at least Valerie Vargas admits to being heavily influenced by Chris Conn. How bad could that be ? ;)
  19. Congrats @Mark Bee. Looking forward to seeing. And yes good luck with the booking. I had not heard of Mark Cross but just looked him up. BOLD !!!! Awesome. How do you find out about guests at the Pearl ? I check their blog often but never see guests announced. Twitter or some such thang I don't engage in...yet....I suppose...
  20. Aw what the hell. I wasn't going to post this because, most of what I see here is just so epic. This isn't particularly epic but, I like it just the same. This was my first real 'impulse' tattoo. I was hell bent on getting some kind of little banger as a souvenir of an awesome trip to Vancouver. I wanted to get something done at Gastown but they were fully booked so I walked around til I found a place that had time for a walk in. Normally I would be a lot more fussy but, I wanted it right then and there. I had always wanted a sparrow/swallow, and I liked the date so I threw that in too. Vancouver is the place of my birth and although I haven't lived there since infancy, it always feels very strongly like home when I'm there. So, yeah..... :) Oh, and, pardon the nipple LOL
  21. @cltattooing That corset/torso is blowing my mind. No shit ! Awesome awesome work ! :)
