I was able to add a picture I understand it will heal and fade eventually but I think the contrast of the ink is a different shade then the ink I already have. Also I feel like it’s a very busy tattoo for not being done.. can the white ink really change that like he says?

I still think the new one looks different because it's new.Let it go for a while. it looks good IMO.

About two weeks ago I got my first hand tattoo, not my first tattoo or anything I have both sleeves done completely and even a neck tattoo. The hand tattoo is a tribute to my grandpa, it is a anchor with a banner with his name and there is a spider web to fill the rest of my hand as background. I would post a picture but I am writing this off a computer.  anyways I feel like the tattoo came out very dark in contrast compared to the rest of my sleeve it stands out and doesn't flow at all with it almost like I have a dark glove on, Idk if he did this because it is my hand and it does not hold ink as well so he was planning ahead but the web is very dark and over powers the anchor and my hand is covered in black ink. I know it is a new tattoo and its still angry and it will fade and calm down into a lighter color once it has healed but it still looks like its gonna have a darker contrast then the rest of the ink going all the way up my arm.

I talked to my artist and he said the tattoo isn't done and there is still a lot of detail and white ink to be added to the whole tattoo to make it look better. but when i look at it it doesn't look like much can really be done because how covered my hand is in black ink from the web so I'm not sure what his plan really is . can the white ink he plans to throw in there really change the whole tattoo and how it looks/flows? Can tattoos look like this when they are unfinished and still need detail?  He is a great artist and I have been going to him for over a year now and I trust him because of the amazing sleeve he's done. I've heard of post anxiety from tattoos and I've defiantly had it before for maybe one or two out of the countless tattoos I have so I am aware it happens.  also maybe because its my hand and its uncoverable and always right in front of me maybe that is making the post tattoo anxiety a lot more intense? Brand new here was hoping to get some feed back maybe from some people that has experienced the same or tattoo artist out there that might have a response to this.

    Thank You.

the new hand tattoo will be darker brighter more vivid than the rest of your  settled in sleeves. The hand tattoo will probably look more cohesive and not stand out so much once it settles in 6 months (without seeing it)

I've been thinking of getting a tattoo for years but never like any art I've seen. Guessing this is most people. I do have an idea if someone(s) would be willing drawing a rough draft, for multiple source materials.

Aso if you're a tattooist in the Springfield Missouri area, or Davenport Iowa area, and would like to throw me an idea let me know. I'm sure like everyone else, I'm extremely picking about wanting quality work.

Ok, so my idea is a skeleton, ribcage mostly, at the bottom of the ocean, some coral, maybe kelp, with an octopus in the ribcage, looking out, upper left side an arm holding onto the skull, center right another arm holding onto a heart. This would prob be a back piece for detail/size. Maybe some color, heart, couple random corals. Any takers on a quick sketch? And takers around those areas to do it and sketch it?

that's not me, I think about a tattoo before I get for about an hour, many of my tattoos were spur of the moment , sometimes on several tattoos I didn't even know what I was getting until I got in the chair, also some of mine were flash off the wall.

    Hey all,

Yesterday my forearm got tattoeed after 5/6 years of no tattoos.

This made me compare my tattoo with my old one.

I noticed there is relatively much fading (see the photo).

It made me wonder how much the tattoo will fade more the years to come. Will it stay pretty much the same or will it go noticeably downhill from here?

Do y'all recommend a touch up and if so, will one touch up do the trick for the years to come?

Love to hear what everybody thinks.

yes for sure, the right tattooer can bring it back to life, freshen it up. IMO well worth it.

I got this tattoo yesterday and I'm so happy with the size and placement, but I'm wondering if the lines are a little wobbly and uneven? Or maybe I'm just being a perfectionist- the tattoo's only ~3cm big and is obviously less forgiving because it's line work. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated 🙂

WOW ! that piece looks amazing ! and I cannot believe how big you went, "go big or go home " right !?!?!?

I had a tattoo on my left inner wrist 2 years ago, which ended up a lot darker than initially planned. It isn't that I dislike it, it is just quite masculine and I am quite feminine! Can this be added to or changed to make it more feminine? It is very good in terms of detail, it is just very dark.

I actually hoped for fine line work but the stencil vs reality is very different. The artist is talented and this was 100% my mistake.

I also have a second ankle tattoo which I want updating (it is about 15 years old!), preferably with fine line and detail and nothing too heavy. Would like Aby suggestions on this!

I am new here and couldn't add the thread to the right topic sorry.

here is an example of what a good artist can do to rework/freshenup a tattoo,

I follow this guy and IMO he is very good, this is one he freshened up for somebody.

Alright, I will admit it. I'm kind of obsessing over this, but some feedback would help me put this to rest.

I got a forearm band tattoo that is 50% complete. I go back in early May so if I find what looks like a faded line, I try to have the attitude that I can always get a touch up.

It has been 12 days since I got the tattoo, and I'm in the flaking stage but most of the scabs are still there.

However I've found myself fixating on some of the lines looking very slightly blurry. Is this blowout or am I just overthinking it?

    yes

Thanks for your input! Since I'm considering a cover-up, I will have to do at least a few laser sessions anyways, so I'll definitely need to do a lot more research. The place I considered originally has a PicoWay. I'd be open to hearing opinions on different lasers. Mine is mostly shading with very light line work - artist specifically said she was using very light touch and there was such little pain I felt like I could have taken a nap. I'm hoping that might help reduce the number of sessions needed to fade. I have another tattoo with heavier line work, and that one felt like a razorblade slicing through the skin the whole time. After 10 years it looks very much the same. I'd say the line work on that one is at least twice as thick. Never regretted that one, always loved it, but then again it has a lot of significance as my late mother had a matching one.

It's interesting but not surprising to hear that you had a different response to the laser on different body parts. I wonder if it's just increased circulation in different areas, or if it's more complicated than that?

Of course I would love to be one of the very lucky few who do get almost complete removal (keyword almost), but my expectations have thankfully been lowered. I at one point strongly considered a chest piece but decided against it. I wouldn't be broken hearted to end up with them, after all I like them enough to have considered it for years, but since I ultimately decided against it, I'd obviously slightly prefer to not. It's anyone's guess why I went with that positioning this time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

no, that's not necessarily true, there are many tattooers that like doing and are good at cover ups.

this is one I had done, with no laser before.
