  1. Any background on this photo? Where'd it come from? So inspiring! Imagine back in the day when you were one of those only people walking around with tattoos, what a feeling.
  2. I really like Derek Nobbs' work. Has a vintage, well-worn blue collar feel to it. You can see his work here: https://www.facebook.com/dereknobbsart Edit - Sorry about the size of these pictures!
  3. I gave my tattoo artist a smoking pipe and a tin of tobacco a while back. He is working on my sleeves, and we have talked quite a bit while he has tattooed me. He always takes these little 2 min. smoke breaks to smoke cigs, and I told him that if he liked to smoke, he should try smoking a pipe (again, tobacco, not weed!). I think as far as gifts go, it depends on the artist and their personality. Some dudes just don't seem like the type to appreciate or want to receive things from their clients. Maybe it would make them feel weird. I think it just comes down to personal discretion.

    Hi

Sounds like you have a very respectable, well-thought-out plan for your future! Good to have you here!
  5. I like the Catrina, have you ever been to Mexico before? A lot of inspiring art by Frida and Diego Rivera for tattoo ideas!
  6. Welcome to the Forum, Super Dave!
  7. Rock of ages, probably my favorite tattoo design. Many of you have probably already seen mine in my introduction thread, but I'll make it official here. Done by Juan Arreguin (El Super) here in Leon, Mexico at Superfly tattoos.
  8. Awesome flash and the tats are great too. Looking forward to more posts from you. Welcome
  9. This is why I have come to prefer tattoos that take multiple sessions, just because it saves from the dreaded going to the studio just for a touch up (which I don't really like). I would rather just have anything be taken care of that needs it along with something new, than just a touch up.
  10. Thanks man! The Jonah is ready to be finished.. I just need to get some money together and have another session done. I am anxious to see how it looks w/ color - should be pretty awesome. Looking forward to seeing your tattoos also. thanks for the welcome
  11. This is a portrait of my pops that I had done last week by Juan Arreguin (El Super) in his shop Superfly Tattoo here in Leon Guanajuato Mexico. If any of you are from Vancouver, you might recognize the name because he used to work at Rain City. August 12th is my fathers birthday, and the National Airborne Day is August 16th. Figured this would be a good way to honor him.

    Hello

I remember that feeling! Have you decided more or less what style of tattoo you want and what the subject matter will be? Where are you from? Can't wait to see your first tat! Welcome
  13. Thanks bro. Yours are very nice also, I am especially drawn to those Ron Henry Wells pieces. Thanks for the warm welcome!
  14. Thank you Hayden. The top three were done by Juan Arreguin (Superfly) who used to work at Rain City Tattoo in Vancouver Can. but came back down here to Mexico. The bulldog was by a local guy named Manuel Sukre, and the Cholo skull was by Juan's apprentice El Kemer. Trying to save some larger spaces for when I am back in the states. Thanks for the welcome.
  15. Hi everyone, my name is Ben and I am living in Mexico (from Alaska). I have been lurking a while and figured I would go ahead and join. I have been getting tattoos for a while now, in the beginning most were pretty standard, not very well done. I have become a little more selective in who I choose to tattoo me now. Here are a few examples of pieces I have had worked on lately. Rock of Ages - top part is covering an old orca whale that I had. Portrait of my dad when he was young and in the army - paratrooper! Jonah and the fish - This needs some more work, but should look sweet once finished, I hope! Anyways I appreciate the membership and look forward to talking tattoos with all of you! - - - Updated - - - Viking bulldog from a few weeks ago. Cholo/Chicano skull
