  1. Are we still tracking lower leg progress becuase definitely making progress...
  2. This is more or less exactly what I was going to say.
  3. Yep, Minnesota. My wife wanted this from facing crawfish/crayfish based on a photo she took in Lake Mille Lacs which is a large lake smack dab in the middle of the state.
  4. Thanks! We are pretty happy with how they turned out.
  5. Another fun family day at Leviticus Tattoo in Minneapolis. A crayfish for my wife and a rocket ship for me. Both by Kyle Malone.
  6. I don't have my knees covered but my wife does (one of them anyway) and I will never forget the day. We went to Great Lakes in Chicago and she got a sweet squid on her knee by Nick Colella. Afterwards we celebrated buy walking around eating and drinking - as is our custom. At the end of the night we caught a bus to our hotel and as she stepped off the bus her freshly tattooed knee that had been walking around for hours just waved the white flag and gave up and wife spilled out onto the sidewalk like a sack of potatoes. I guess what I'm trying to say here is have fun but be careful getting off the bus.
  7. This is true of me but only because it usually takes me like an hour to find clean socks that match.
  8. When I got into tattoos in my late 30's I got a Grateful Dead tattoo in Las Vegas as a way to pay respect to the tattoo I would have gotten if I'd had gotten a tattoo when I was 18. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that you should probably get a really damn great Duran Duran tattoo.
  9. Went to the Ren Fest today with my daughter dressed in a wife made chainmail and Viking hat. Nine years old and she already kicks more ass than I ever have.
  10. I'm starting to regret NOT having that sweet dragon tattoo myself. After all, I only have two (three if you count sea monsters).
  11. I don't know the answer but I 100% understand the question as I'm pretty much in the same boat. I expect I'll cross over at some point in the next few years but also maybe I won't. Part of me likes having a bunch if secret tattoos at work. I also want to wait until I can go with something really good which has a financial decision aspect to it. Good luck!
  12. Pretty good day for my wife and I at Smith Street. Angel Fish for her by Frank William and a koi for me by Eli Quinters.
  13. So my wife and I are going to New York City next weekend for a long child free weekend and this morning I was a little bored and got to thinking and next thing you know I called Smith Street and made us each an appointment. We plan to just walk in and pick something off the wall. I gotta tell you- we are both looking forward to it.
  14. Not really- other than don't over think it. I have a hodge podge of traditional on my leg and it all pretty much works together.
  15. This is the best "I'm going on a beach vacation AND getting a sweet tattoo" humblebrag ever. Anyway- have fun and my guess is that it's no big deal unless you fall into some extreme sunburn.
  16. I don't think they look good so I won't get them. I feel the same about turtleneck shirts. Of course this means nothing. Other people think they look good and they get them. So I guess the real question to the OP is... what do YOU think about neck tattoos?
  17. When my wife and I first got together she had tattoos and I didn't and actually I was kind of an asshole about them. Eventually I decided to get a small tattoo that we both got together and I haven't stopped since. We frequently get tattooed on the same day, sometimes at the same time and sometimes back to back by the same artist, and we have a lot of fun with this- but I suppose I've already said all of this upthread...
  18. Going to NYC in May and thinking of trying to do a walk in at Smith Street for a small flash piece. Any thoughts on this? Should I try to make an appointment. I won't be too sad if it doesn't work out but it would be cool if it did.
  19. Honestly- I would talk to both your artist and your boss and figure out your best option. Good luck!
  20. If you have the option to wear long sleeves for a few days I would cover it up. Think of it as an open wound- you don't want hot grease splatter in your beautiful wound and the customers don't want your gooey body fluids in their horrible food.
  21. $300? This story is the happiest ending on the internet. Amazing and congrats!
  22. Every year this comes up I think about it, notice the terrible timing (usually the week before daughter's spring break) and say "next year"... So I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe next year.
