  1. I (now) know this sort of thread can make people here feel like pulling their teeth out but the patience and effort of LSTers is a great thing and I remain eternally grateful. Honestly. So, despite the shame of bumping this I'm adding photos of the finished project 'cause it's maybe nice to have it all together. I already put them on Latest Tattoo Lowdown though, wasn't thinking! I did take an enormous mass of over thought out context and reference photos in but that went down fine and was actually appreciated. Balanced it out by giving him free choice on what to use from it all and full control on colour and placement. I like to think it worked out nice. Back again in November for a start on the next bit of me.
  2. Cheers @Graeme I had 3 little ones across the ditch in that day they were healing up fab, smooth as anything. But yeah, somehow something happened to that inner side one around day 4 (I think) and I ended up with cellulitus right in the center of it. Revolting.
  3. Finished what was planned for my left arm at the end of August although one little filler from that session (inner end of ditch) needs reworking after a shocking heal.
  4. Urg, read it in translation to your own language too, I mean. Sorry to be so dreadfully unclear:rolleyes:
  5. Yeah, I did see that you'd linked, my post was badly worded - pressed post too soon so edited right away. Trying to ask if you've read the full thing, basically. - - - Updated - - - Because surely that would solve the lack of image problem? The whole thing is packed full of really strong imagery that you could easily use to remind yourself of the line you like so much. The whole 3 suns and gray spirit yearning in desire thing is quite a strong image, for a start. The there's the ship stuff with loads of fantastic imagery going on.
  6. You know the character is quoting the last lines from Ulysses by Alfred Lord Tennyson, right? So, yeah, you might well get the inspiration you need from reading the book. (Here's the full last stanza) Though much is taken, much abides; and though We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
  7. There's the 'birth flower' thing too, here, for example. No idea which flowers you'd come out with, or she could just ask the children to choose a flower or two each. Anyway, the old elegant-hand-holding-up-a-bunch-of-flowers thing can look great. Adding a heart / names / whatever tattoos to the tattooed hand can work really well too.
  8. This worked pretty well for a take on a 'for the kid(s)' tattoo, I thought: Instagram - - - Updated - - - WRT the usual (wise, sensible) LST badgering to get more tattooed panthers into the world - might she be be more easily persuaded by tigers? Possibly?
  9. @Mick Weder what with the merciless spreading of earworms? Can't get it to switch off! - - - Updated - - - It's been days now
  10. Yeah, I agree, antihistamines are very useful. I find they help reduce the post session swelling as well as being good for the healing itch later. That said, I've never been as happy to be itchy as I am with the this tattoo, was beginning to feel like it'd never come.
  11. I peel really slowly too - just have to wait it out I'm afraid. I have very dry skin that doesn't shed well, I'm kind of used to it being annoying. But, yeah, I find exfoliating and moisturizing really well before starting a tattoo speed things up a reasonable amount but that's no use to you now, worth trying next time though.
  12. We're almost neighbors @GintoniK! There may well be a decent shop (or two) in Tilburg but I'm not familiar with any. The guys at Bunker Tattoo in Breda will certainly give you honest, realistic advice that you can trust though. - - - Updated - - - Actually, I think Florencio Rojas is working in Tilburg these days, no idea where but thought you might like his work.
  13. Thanks @Fala and @beez It's starting to itch! Very slightly, but still ;) Off to the doctor again tomorrow but it does look like it's turned a corner, thank goodness. It's scary stuff and I've still no idea how I managed to cause it either. I've not told Willem yet though, is it normal to be this damned ashamed of messing up someones work? I'll get the husband to take some photos of my arm once I'm flake and manky bit free.
  14. Am indeed in the Land of Cheese so was diagnosed in Dutch :) Cellulitis appears to be the correct translation, it's revolting and painfull whatever it's called though. It's getting a bit better but slowly and more antibiotics will be required, it seems. The lack of significant ink loss (until now) is really quite surprising but an undamaged tattoo is too much to hope for after all this. It's a forget me not flower and I will surely not be forgetting it. At least it's small and tucked away (ish). OTOH the rest of the stuff from that session is looking grand.
  15. I really, really like this wolf: instagram - - - Updated - - - (also a Dutch tattooer, BTW @JakeWolfSkin)
  16. Exactly. Having a tattoo wont help with us women but the process of getting one could quite possibly help you with yourself. The quotey thing is not such a good plan, TBH, for a myriad of reasons. But, by all means apply that sentiment to taking full ownership of your body by tattooing it, if you will. No need at all to be literal or cryptic, spending the next 50 years explaining will be a pain the ass. Go for something big, powerful and protective, indeed. Panther, dragon, eagle, whatever. Something you find visually appealing. This, to my mind, is unnecessary, cuntish bullying.
  17. Thanks. "St. Anthony's fire" is one of the translations for the type of infection that comes up a lot, but, yeah, not sure if that's it's common name in English or not. "Wondroos", they say here. Strangely I don;t seem to have lost much ink, well, yet. Bah. Not the foggiest idea what I did wrong :( My arm is nearly done though, which is lovely!
  18. Urgh. Had a session a week ago on Saturday and have a nasty infection in one of the fillers in me ditch. Has been very strange, seemed to come up and out from inside rather than starting on the skin like the one tiny and easily manageable dodgy bit I once had before. It looks awful and hurts like fuck, the guilt is the worst part though. FFS. Doctor gave me a course a systemic antibiotics rather than a cream which I though was a bit extreme but after 3 days it's only just starting to look a tiny bit better so maybe he was right. Can't yet see how buggered the tattoo is or not. Had a vile virus (same as the rest of the family) so maybe that's slowing things down again. Whinge, whinge, whinge. sob.
  19. For me, tattoo pain does kind of pale into insignificance after two drug free births, yeah.
  20. They're lovely aren't they! I'd not seen most of those shots before, there are a few more here The Jealous Curator /// curated contemporary art /// jessica harrison but unfortunately nothing to be found on the artists site.
  21. Hell yes. Thigh would be pretty badass too.
  22. Thank you @HaydenRose :o Is all down to Willem. I didn't notice any difference in feeling while the scars were being worked over, I don't think (was mostly my first tattoo though) but I gather it was a wee bit of a challenge with the scarred skin being very thin in places and tough in others - he kept doing technical stuff with his machine. But yeah, of the +/- 100 scars that have been tattooed only the one played up a bit during healing and was absolutely fine in the end. - - - Updated - - - I need to know more about this COHESIVE ARM TATTOO© too, please!
  23. I have old (10+ years) cutting scars that were tattooed over last october and november, there's no knowing how they'll age but they've settled in nicely. I'm not sure I meet your standards (WRT GOOD)but thought I'd post anyway as in some places the tattoo goes right though the scarring, that's not something I was able to find many photos of myself. In both the photos the scars are more visible than in the flesh - the texture difference seems more apparent. Scars tattoos - - - Updated - - - crikey! That second photo is way too big - will try and sort that out! - - - Updated - - - Better like this, I think. My excuses. http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/0e/d0/6b/0ed06b32a0a7dea2833890308a49f5e7.jpg - - - Updated - - - (the stabbed turnip at the top isn't healed yet but doesn't touch any scarring either)
