That dude does real nice work.I remember seeing his stuff when he was only tattooing a few years,and it was good.You know he started out in NH,and he does travel to the east coast to do conventions and guest spots.There's a lot of talented tattooers in Portland.I got tattooed by Jerry Ware@ Atlas Tattoo :: Portland, Oregon They have some real good tattooers there too.What are you thinking of getting from Ryan?

He's overlooked for someone doing such beautiful Japanese work.I met this girl in NYC who had a Phoenix on her hip from Paul,and it was awesome work.

He worked in Philly years ago when he was starting out.I believe he went to art school in Italy,and his paintings are impressive.His Japanese work is really good too.

Just wanted to bump this back to the top because Brian David Macneil is impressing me right now and I don't remember seeing his name on here. There are so many lower-profile good tattooers in New England.

Roots are one thing,but for talent and the look of the sleeve that he posted I would go with Spider Murphy's,or California Electric.

You can have all three of these guys contribute to a nice sleeve for you.

Looks like something one of the Spider Murphy's (or formerly Spider Murphy's) people could do really well, to just scratch the surface. If you look around on here, you'll find a lot of pictures of a bodysuit that Stuart Cripwell did that might inspire you. Check out the "tattoos & negative space" thread. @sophistre has a beautiful sleeve from Greg Whitehead that's traditional in style but with a really unique twist.

Dave does real nice work..I think he does a mix of neo traditional/realism work.Fran who works with Dave also does real nice work.Here's a deer he did in a neo traditional style.
