  1. @Mark Bee, your sticks are looking great! Why are smoking reapers soooo cool?! I really love them!
  2. I use to get reaaallly crabby for a couple of days after a new tattoo and that would sometimes make my husband sick :p Seriously though, I have never gotten sick after a tattoo but I could see how it could leave your immune system in an overstimulated or distracted state increasing susceptibility to the foreign invaders around you. For this reason, I have started scheduling shorter sessions. I find I don't get crabby or feel as exhausted/susceptible to getting sick. It also allows me to keep working out to some degree or another which I think is fantastic in helping tattoos to heal quickly. Side note...I think sleep quality is part of it too. I rarely sleep well the first couple of nights with a new tattoo. So on top of maybe the flesh trauma and neural load, your body's #1 recovery system can also be compromised. Just my thoughts @OnyxRose...and now that you suspect this may be how your body reacts you can move forward and implement some things to support your immune system pre-, post- and during tattoo. Best of luck!
  3. Heeeeey girl! <3 Don't be shy! Tell errbody you love Aaron Coleman and Valerie Vargas and how you currently have a soft spot for big, bold, beautiful, western traditional designs and roses! Lotsa roses! And ladyheads! Hey y'all, it's my sissy-in-law (once removed sorta :p )! <3...wait...did I just totally out you?! Anyhoo, dying to hear what ideas are brewing because I suspect you are barking up the right tree. I am a big fan of the Arizona-Aaron-Coleman-road trip idea! Welcome to Last Sparrow! xoxo
  4. Yaay! Welcome, @Jon Reiter ! You rule!:D
  5. Hi Hi! Welcome and good luck with your re-entry into tattoo-land. You are not the only one...I turn 41 in the Spring and I have gotten so many tattoos in the last two years. It's nuts! Maybe we're just late bloomers ;)! All the best!
  6. No Oiwa...and it is indeed a MOST excellent one! Mine is the apsara/tennyo-messenger-spirit-thingy on the right. I was already getting a little puffy in that pic so she's distorted. Not nearly as pretty as she really is. Will post a healed one, well...when it heals :D. How awesome/intense is the next week of posts going to be with the convention and post-convention guesting?! I'm so excited and also kinda don't want to see. I want them all...really.
  7. Aaaah, so jealous that I did not think of this! It was pretty funny though...I am a pretty uptight person when it comes to the whole shunga-thing (I am who I am  ) and I surprised myself by almost immediately thinking "Dick-frog for the win".
  8. UFOMAMMUT is my all time favorite...I don't know..Psych-Space-Touch-o-Tech-Metal Band? I love everything that they have recorded ever. Something older: UFOMAMMUT's Snail King - Lacrimosa Something not quite as old: UFOMAMMUT's Eve - V Oro: Opus Alter and Opus Primum I only listen to in their entirety. :D
  9. Helllloooo Ladies! We have already discussed how being female and having tattoos often seem to invite strangers to act inappropriately on many levels. And I definitely found this to be true when I had just a couple, largish, visible tattoos on my arms. But NOW, I find it is the exact opposite. When I venture out of my life bubble into the normal world I find people give me a wide physical berth and that when I notice men noticing my tattoos, they avert their eyes/avoid eye contact. It's been really fascinating and I have been REALLY enjoying the space. I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience as they have approached more visible full coverage. ***I am far from fully covered by our standards but have recently realized that in a v-neck, short sleeved t-shirt and cuffed jeans that I look preeeetty covered (minus neck and hands)
  10. I am having a similar experience. I started out with a lot of planning and it finally got to be unfun. So I took a break, picked a spot, gave a couple of different thoughts but mainly went with what my artist was into or most excited about. Somewhere in there I crossed some kind of line and accepted that I am well on my way to full coverage which carries with it it's own innate symmetry/harmony of balance. It's been freeing for me to just enjoy the spontaneity and surprise of how things turn out. In the face of the long game, spaces and asymmetry really don't bug me as much anymore because they are temporary.
  11. This is a great idea! I will remember this one! I was thinking (if/when we get around to young'uns) that I would abuse my power as a parent and just indoctrinate my offspring with the idea that tattoos don't turn out right until you're 25...as though it is some mystery of developmental skin chemistry. I am hoping that if I start them young enough and am matter of fact enough, it will just become a part of their world view.
  12. Thanks, all! Such a privilege to be tattooed by awesome people and to get to hang with y'all! All the best and everyone enjoy their Friday!:D
  13. by Paul Anthony Dobleman
  14. Thanks @Dumpleton! That is so nice of you! I hope you get a smashing tattoo from Paul soon! Not only is he skilled but he is an awesome human being. It's always good to see really great people be successful. Have a great day!
  15. Oh my gosh @hogg , I totally met your wife! That is so cool! Her piece is going to be AMAZING!
  16. Wait a minute...is she getting a BG thigh piece? I think she may have come by for her consult while Paul was doing my panther.
  17. Soooo, I was trying to take an all-things-tattoo-hiatus until October but the boys were getting tattooed so I thought "Oh, I'll just get a little gap filler from Paul" (like I did the previous day with Bryan Randolph)...and this happened. No really, I can stop whenever I want... Paul Anthony Dobleman - Spider Murphy's Tattoo, San Rafael, CA

  20. Hey all! Just an update...I think I am definitely sensitive to the Tegaderm adhesive because I just healed a little one (after test stripping) with Saniderm and removal was total cake. Also, I applied a moisturizer that had glycerine (which most non-petroleum moisturizers contain) with one of my test strips as the Saniderm instructions mentioned that it would increase adhesion...which it did. Just throwin' it out there... 1) If someone doesn't have a great experience with one but still wants the freedom of a 'derm heal the other brand could be an option 2) If you use hippy body products (like me), be aware of the potential of increasing adhesion 3) Hubbs and I have also noticed that 'derm healing and sweating/being hot do not mix...end result - heat rash. I wonder if those of you who have mentioned rashing are also getting heat rash. Anyhooo...
  21. @beez - I love your "Selfie w/dog" :D ...you match!! @Zillah - Your bun pics literally made me exclaim "Oh my god" aloud. @SeeSea - You are an inspirational pet guardian. @TrixieFaux - Tomo-kitty update? This is Mirka the Wonderpup. She is submissive "smiling" because I had just found a chewed up piece of cotton pad that she swiped from the kitchen table while I was out. She started doing it as soon as I saw it. People who say that they don't remember when they were naughty or won't know why you are chastising them are soooo wrong! Sneaky-sneaks!

    G'day

A little late to the party but welcome @mickweder. Your backpiece is insane! I love it! Give Brissy my love! I live/worked there for 3 months once and it positively ruined me for mangos, blueberries and meat pies. Seriously, I don't eat mangos anymore...they just don't taste the same. :( All the best!
