  1. I just came across this thread. I'm taking the MSF course this weekend, i'm really excited. I am looking at used Honda Shadows in the 600cc range for my first bike.

I always wanted to ride...my ex-wife was so adamently against it I never seriously considered it...but then again, she was against a lot of fun stuff.

    :p

what weekend? the 7th and 8th? which location? oh wait you probably meant today and sunday. i think im confused on what day of the week it is lol

  2. I can remember when S&R was the evil empire of tattooing...

Get a starter kit and start scratching away.

ive said something similar in one of these threads... the mainstreaming of tattooing started loooong ago. even though it was way more subtle it still was going on. whats happening now is just the inevitable.

  3. In the end, what they got after most of those guys (& gals) for was simple (to an artist that practices) anatomy and basic art 101, not so much technical tattoo application.

very true but, they didnt ment once or twice about how certain tattoos werent gonna heal right. i also think that this show can potentially damage the participants more than help them(i said this in an earlier post) and the last thing we need is a bunch of clients thinking they can analyze what it is we just did to them cause they saw this show on tv. it would get annoying quick if i had to micromanaged by someone who thinks dave navarro taught them something. so maybe its better for us that they leave the "technical ability" critiques alone

  4. @irezumi or @G.Uristti - do either of you know if Owen is still traveling or if he's back home yet?

Edit: Searched the interwebs and apparently he is and has opened a new studio in Melbourne. This is his personal site Owen Williams

Also found this old interview with him which is pretty amusing Come back when you're serious, Owen Williams! - THE TATTOOED HEART

im not certain where he is now but hes told me hes looking to be in phoenix around june or july

  5. There's a push for SUPER conceptual 'old timey' stuff so they can 'out oldschool' each other. Some of the stuff, by well respected tattooers, looks to me like a five year old drew it. I mean, whatever folks want to get is fine by me, but until people start calling it out.... it's only going to get worse.

well put! i gotta throw in the fact that so many young tattooers are relying on wonky 'traditional" to get by and build a name for themselves. they think they know how to tattoo. i wanna see what they are gonna do when the market for that stuff changes.

  6. before the 50 years you re mentioning there are :2 years,5 years,7 years ,10 years....if you can understand what i mean

i absolutely know what you mean. i personally dont think that one style of tattooing is better than any other. when you get tattooed by someone who is an excellent technician your getting the best you can get and at the end of the day the body takes its toll on the tattoo. i understand all the arguments about this vs that but it doesnt matter to me. color stuff falls out, bold black spreads shits gonna change.
