  1. i worked with a french canadian girl a bunch of years back. she was stoked to do this big ass biker back piece with the dudes nick name in a baner across the top. "bobby pipes" so after a week of drawing it looked great but she wrote "bobby pippes" i noticed it right away but i thought it was some weird french shit so i didnt say anything cause i didnt know the scenario til after it was done. i was walking around saying ok bobby pip pes in my head the whole week making fun of the douche. oooppps my bad hahahahahaha

  2. Mail your equipment ahead to the tattoo shop. Makes life easier.

i second that...i go to canada at least once a year and they always give me a hard time. so i decided to mail my equipment and it was much easier.

i lived and work in england back in '02 and didnt have any problems but things always change. im guessing that the london convention has brought a lot of attention to whats going on.

  3. i would say it would depend on where u see urself going with ur career. if u plan on staying in that town then u gotta show people what they want to see, if u deal with primarily, un informed clients they are gonna get tattooed by u cause they see what they want in portfolio.

if u plan on making a real good go at what your doing and want to do conventions, travel and guest spots all over the world...then u need to make ur portfolio your best work. u need to show u can hold your own on the global stage.

at the end of the day i could be wrong but thats my opinion.

  4. .

Just out of curiosity, did this happen before or after tattoo reality television?

this happened about 5 1/2 years ago, while i was working on long island... and it was definitely after the reality tv explosion. everyone i worked with back then concluded, not only cause of this, that long island clients def wanted some sort of "miami ink experience"

  5. i had a client many years ago with it and it was never a problem. it was actually kinda cool cause he was a light skinned black dude so where ever he lost natural pigment the tattoos looked like they were on the whitest white dude.

he never had a problem with healing and, in fact, he started to get tattooed cause he wanted to cover up the loss of pigment. so it worked out great for every body

  6. i wish mine was funny but i guess that would depend on how warped some of u fuckers are. i was in between appointments and some older guy comes in looking real stressed out. so, in my head im like here comes the bullshit. so he asked who does portraits and of course the dude i work with points at me. so i start to help the guy and hes acting real strange but i keep the convo moving well. he eventually shows me the picture and im like oh ok so this guy is upset that hes got a black grandchild(he was a seemingly well off white dude) so i try to explain to him that since the pic was of a new born baby there wasnt much unique features and that he should wait till the baby was older... i went on to try to explain the lack of features like, "there are only slits for eyes and barely a nose" but when the baaby got older he/she would be more identifiable as his kid grandkid whatever. long story short the guy storms off unhappy with what i said. calls my boss screaming and cursing that i was a racist unsensitive scumbag cause the baby in the pic.... was his dead, turned black from decay, half asian baby and that the slits for eyes comment was a dig at his asian wife who wasnt even present during the convo.

so yeah :/ thats the worst for me ever.
