  1. I told a co worker of mine that I'm getting a rattlesnake and a skull tattooed on my torso. He said "are you getting a Harley with that tattoo? hurr hurr hurr." From now on when someone at work asks me what I'm getting tattooed, I'm just telling them I'm getting a dead relative tattooed on me.
  2. My plan is to collect tattoos from several artists, but I'm still to early in my collecting so I might really want several pieces from 1 artist. I have 4 tattoos from Julio Avila, but that also has to do with the fact that he's only 15 minutes away from my house and he's very good at what he does. I will still continue to get tattooed by him, but right now I want to branch out to more artists before getting more work from him. I'm not looking forward to traveling long distances, but I think the end result will be worth it. Plus the cost of travel doesn't help very much. I'm trying to plan vacations with my girlfriend to some of the cities I want tattoos from, but that makes them pretty few and far between. Has anyone else used the vacation approach or do they just go to the city, get tattooed, and leave?
  3. God, seeing such amazing pieces in person must be incredible. I guess I'll have to live vicariously through all of the LSTers there and Stewart Robson's and Tim Hendrick's IG.
  4. Welcome teeo. Love the tattoo. So many talented artists in Australia so I don't think you'll have a problem getting more awesome tattoos.
  5. Welcome to LST. Yeah you could get another artist to liven up that tattoo for sure. I like the design of it.
  6. Yeah go to either Rock of Ages or Elm Street. Katja Ramirez recently moved to Rock of Ages and she does fantastic work along with the aforementioned Tony Hundahl. Also Steve Byrne. That guy's work is killer. But I hear getting a tattoo with Oliver Peck is quite the fun experience.
  7. Speaking personally, tattoos don't have much influence on my physical attraction to women. I find tattooed women attractive based on a perceived mutual passion for tattoos. As far as why women get tattooed, it's their decision whether or not to get tattooed. It's unfortunate that some women don't get tattooed base on the idiotic stigmas that men place on them.
  8. I figured since I wasn't very nice to the last person who posted a survey that I would take this one. I have to say it was pretty insightful and well thought out. I hope my answers help you with your research on a pretty interesting topic. And I like your watch tattoo btw.
  9. Well I got a reply from Scott Sylvia and I'm on for March 19th at Great Lakes. So pumped for this. Thank god the date isn't too far away!
  10. I just sent an email yesterday to Scott Sylvia to see if I could snag an appointment with him while he's at Great Lakes tattoo. I'm hoping he responds. How long should I wait for a reply before I either email him again or be disappointed that he might be booked up? My plan is to get a rattlesnake coiled around either a skull or a sacred heart, can't decide which on my front torso somewhere.
  11. I'm sure they aren't going to sit you down and talk about it. Maybe it's less of a big deal to them than you think. It's not like they're going to have an intervention. I showed my parents the tattoo on my side and my mother asked why I got it so big and my dad asked how much. I answered their questions, they had 1 or 2 comments and that was the end of it. Trust me, after the initial telling them phase, it really isn't a big deal. I told my mom "at least I didn't get fuck tattooed on my knuckles or something" and she replied, "that's true, it could be a lot worse." Just let them digest it and pretty soon it won't even be an issue.

  14. I feel like Ink Master sets up people like the guy that went home for failure. How could that man possibly be considered a potential "Ink Master?" I think that Roland, King Ruck, David Bell, and the guy who was sent home should've all gone. But I'll still watch it because it's entertaining to watch people who think they're the shit get torn apart.
  15. This thread has been pretty helpful. I don't really have enough tattoo experiences to speak on the matter, but idk we'll see when I travel to get tattooed by Dusty Neal. I hope I like the original design like all the rest of my tattoos.
  16. As a fellow nurse, I have to agree with @KegRN, I also have a concern for my patient's comfort. Most of the patients I see are in their 50's to 80's and if I came walking in with 2 full sleeves, they aren't going to feel comfortable around me, which means I can't do my job effectively. I would rather sweat my ass off wearing long sleeves at work (which I never ever do by the way) than offend my patients. I feel if I told my patients to deal with it and came of as a dick, I'd probably be further feeding into their presumptions about tattooed people. I don't see any problem covering my tattoos out of respect for others as an impedance on my rights. It's called being considerate. And I also agree with @Graeme as far as keeping my tattoos a secret. The tattoos I get are for me, no one else.
  17. It's been my understanding that the general public has no interest in educating themselves on the subject of tattooing. Most just want to know where they can get the cheapest tattoo closest to where they live. The people I work with know I have tattoos and they constantly ask me, "where's the best place to get tattoos in town? You've got them so you must know." I tell them, they ask how much, I tell them to ask the artist and that's where they stop because it's too much work or they say "well they're probably over priced," and at that point I just roll my eyes. To echo the others, yeah this is preaching to the choir because the people on here all express an interest in tattoos beyond just getting them. I may sound like a pessimist, but I believe that most will never bother to ever educate themselves about tattoos, their history, the culture surrounding them, or search for the amazing artists all around the world. It's all about convenience. And to be honest, I'd rather it be that way.
  18. Just got finished watching and it just solidifies the spot on my bucket list to go and get tattooed at Frith Street. There are just so many amazing people with a wealth of talent and heart that work there. Awesome interviews and already anxiously awaiting the second part. Amazing job Stewart!
  19. If you liked Ip Man, you will love Jet Li's Fearless and Ong Bak: Thai Warrior.
  20. My ultimate tattoo crush has got to be Shige because of this warrior back piece he did. It's incredible and I wish it was on my back. Other tattoo crushes I must be tattooed by include but are not limited to: -Valerie Vargas because of that punk rock girl she did with the green mohawk. Amazing. -Jason McCafee -Uncle Allan -Gordon Combs -Mike Bruce -Chad K -Grime -Scott Sylvia -Grez -Aaron Bell.
  21. Yeah maybe try some over the counter allergy medication like Zyrtec. That could help with the itching for a longer period of time.
