I am in Edmonton. I definitely know of a bunch of tattoo artists in the province I admire a lot.

As an artist/illustrator, I've had people ask me if they can get my work tattooed on them, and I usually say it's okay. I have had people not ask me though, and i've somehow stumbled upon a photo of a tattoo of my original work without my consent. The way I look at it, is a tattoo artist should be okay with tattooing someone else's work so long as the client has the permission from the original artist. Of course, there are exceptions, like artists that have passed on or artists that are very popular and difficult to get a hold of. It's not really a black and white issue. All I know is I feel pretty ripped off when someone copies my work.

My family's first dog was a german shepherd and she passed when I was 11. She was one of my best friends growing up and I've loved dogs ever since. Right now my family has a bichon frise. I really want to get a dog of my own but my apartment building does not allow animals. I recently got a portrait of my german shepherd in the inside of my arm.

unfortunately i am a graphic designer...well at least that's what pays the bills
helvetica has its time and place and it is not a bad font
pretty easy to kern works well for body copy legal etc
if all someone is designing are pieces for their book or record album covers then helvetica is sort of boring i guess
i certainly wouldn't get a helvetica tattoo though

complaining about hipsters makes people look insecure imo. i hate most people in general but the whole hipster finger pointing is often times the pot calling the kettle black.

I exfoliate from time to time, but it's not really part of my regular skincare routine. I try to exfoliate spots where I'm going to be tattooed prior to the session to have my skin in good shape, but after the tattoo is done and healed, I just moisturise after showering.

@spookysproul I specifically take an oil (I like coconut, olive, jojoba, or avocado) and hit the to-be-tattooed area while my skin is still moist from the shower. After that, I take a heavier cream (I have been using a calendula/orange one from the salve co - you can find it in the bulk section @ rainbow natural remedies on cap hill - it's actually a lotion and the only one I would recommend instead of an actual cream) and go over the same area again. The cream helps seal in the moisture from the shower and the oil, and provides another layer of moisture.
In fact, my fav progression is: shower, jojoba, coconut, and then lotion/cream. Jojoba has some added benefits due to its similarity to sebum produced naturally by the skin.
Again, this is all tattoo PREP, not aftercare!

The best deal for paper I have found so far is Michael's, They sell packages of three 22x30 arches and with their 40% off coupon (which you can always print from their website.) it comes to $8.00 or so. Out of those three sheets you can get twelve 11x14 sheets.

I always make a poor man's transfer. I take the back of my line drawing and rub lots of graphite down onto it. Then I tape it down onto the watercolor paper (graphite side down) and go over my line drawing again. When you take off the line drawing, you have a light transfer.
