So here's the idea....
My lovely fiancee and I are running away to Coney Island to get married... We are currently planning things, and realize that we are still missing a few details. We would like to get tattooed the same day, right after the wedding, and are looking for an artist that is proficient in traditional style tattooing. I figure since we are in Coney Island, this would also be a great time to visit some historical tattoo sites as well. If anyone can recommend an artist for us, we would be very grateful. We dont mind traveling abit, but we don`t want to stray too far from the area. Cheers.

Check out Dave Fox's book HAUNTED. Great illustrations and great stories to go with it.

Ive known artists that worked in suits... kinda seems odd to me to risk splashing ink on a 300$ suit just to give off the impression that your shop is ultra professional....and there is the other problem... its unfortunate to see a holier-than-thou attitude come from wearing a certain vestment ...
There is one shop in town that have kinda labelled themselves as a "calm spa like environment" for their customers, and they all wear hospital scrubs... the general consensus around town is that most of the older clientele appreciate it, but some more "traditional' clientele is alittle put off by it....
To each their own i suppose...

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas used to play at the shop all the time on my TV...universally appreciated by clients of all walks of life...
Although for the tuff guy/ jocks that used to come in, Id always have a copy EXTREME CAT FIGHTING on hand...

gougetheeyes started a great thread not too long ago about dating and tattoos, and id like to further it abit. I know Ive heard many a story of romances starting in tattoo shops, weather it be between artist and customer, or even between co-workers. In the spirit of the soon celebrated Valentines Day, I was hoping some of you could share such stories, or maybe even offer an opinion of weather such things should be permissible...

i really want to tattoo this one still!!!!!

Im getting a huge piece on my back covered up (botched angel wings), and I find i can sit as well for it... Id spend 3-4 hours no problem per sitting getting the wings, but now that they are getting covered (crazy zombie scenery) I find i cant handle that time as well...
The only conclusion i can come up with is that the wings were tattooed with conventional machines, and the cover up is being done with Numas... has anyone else experienced anything similar??

My palm was garbage.... I tattooed it myself and had to have another artist hold down my fingers cuz the hand kept trying to close on me... My throat was by far the worse...your head hangs off the edge of the table/bench and i found all the vibration carried right into the back of your head...might have been easier had i been able to find my happy place... Sides of the neck sorta felt like the burning sensation you get when you cut yourself shaving...

Im also looking to tattoo lettering across my toes soon too... omit the pinky toes on both feet and get "24 inches". TWO FEET, GET IT!?!?!...

When i had mine done i definetly was driven to something positive (although sarcastic) for something so public... it was a toss up between "handsome" and "charming"... i chose not to push my luck... i chose CHARMING...ha.

Hey Folks!
Its a pleasure to join this forum, the sense of community here is great!
Ive been tattooing now for approximately 6 years,on a never ending quest for knowledge and betterment. I have only recently started working conventions (and love every minute of it) but have been attending them since 2001.
On the off time, i relax and enjoy the finer thing sins in life... old school horror movies and rockabilly music.
Cheers!

I find it great that a few of you mentioned Smith st, I found out about them a few days ago, and have been very interested in the studio since. Thanks to everyone who has commented so far! Much appreciated!
