  1. on my uncle kevin who works inside norad. done by sky james.
  2. had a slight set back. while in the process of backing up my external drive full of content for the book it crashed. total nightmare. after a few week of data recovery and anxiety we recovered almost everything. lesson learned. back things up more often. trying to get caught up and make up for time lost. we are still shooting for a early 2012 release. i would love to have them for the slc convention. Yellow Beak Press | Coming Soon! should be up in the near future. we also shot a video promo with some cool teaser shots of the repaints. that should be online at the same time the website launches. pre orders will follow shortly.
  3. i really enjoyed the content. huge respect for ed so watching it was very exciting for me. the production left a little to be desired in my opinion but the subject matter makes it easy to over look some of the corny production. worth buying for sure.
  4. my right arm was done by whitehead, rassier and scott sylvia. i think this most recent tattoo i got from him was my 6th tattoo from jef. when i was in rockford doing research for the zeis book he did a zeis referenced lady/snake/heart on my inner upper thigh. tender moments! ha ha.
  5. he was just in denver this last week. i got tattooed by him as did a few of my friends. not sure i want to post pictures but they look nice.
  6. complaining about hipsters makes people look insecure imo. i hate most people in general but the whole hipster finger pointing is often times the pot calling the kettle black.
  7. from what i can tell the tattoo is nice but the photo is awful.
  8. if anyone else has any zeis referenced tattoos they want to submit that would be great. i have a couple already.
  9. andrew stickler and jef whitehead both tattooed images off the sheet they did on me. no pics though.
  10. sky james was nice enough to tattoo an image off his flash sheet he did for the book on both kayla and i. both are zeis/bill jones referenced. they were done with a zeis machine built by steve turner.

  12. craig brown from portland. Craig Brown Tattoo or Craig Brown - Historic Tattoo *** 503-236-3440 *** 2001 SE 50th Portland, Oregon 97215 he did one of my favorite sheets for the zeis book so far.
  13. we are still working away. research done for the most part. we have been writing almost every day. trying to fine tune everything. i want to have the books in my hand by jan so we can take them to the slc convention if all goes as planned. so far this process has been much slower than i expected so we will see. the website is under construction right now and we will have pre order available soon. looks like first 200 will get a limited print plus some other goodies. we have a video promo in the works as well. we were able to locate the game show footage from 1963 when Zeis was on to tell the truth.
  14. doesn't look like a tattoo to me. not my thing.
  15. noticed one of scott's zeis sheets was labeled as rassier. all of those are great!
  16. i get great enjoyment out of collecting tattoo related items. i spend most of my spare money on old flash, photos, acetates etc. i was always a minimalist growing up so it's strange that the older i get the more i have the urge to collect things like this. i am not 100% sure what my motivation is for a lot of it but i get real enjoyment out of the images associated with early american style tattooing. a lot of the older designs have a visceral quality that really speaks to me. i have the utmost respect for the craft and the lineage associated with it, i am honored to have some items that are a part of that history. i do not collect machines and i have no interest in doing so ( aside from some zeis related items for the book). i can appreciate them but its not visual enough for me. i can understand why people are not trusting of some collectors who are not tattooers but everyone's motivations are different.
  17. its hard to bunch collectors into one group as they seem to vary a lot. in the tattoo world some of them have played key roles in preserving history but like anything its a mixed bag. often times people are more concerned with money or how rare something is.. tattooers and collectors both.
  18. Chris O'Donnell comes off as a very nice humble man in that video. its refreshing to see.
  19. you should come to colorado and wrestle alligators. its a trip. Colorado Gators
  20. no offense but tattoo magazine makes me sad to look at. often times it seems to be mediocre work plastered on half naked girls and if its not that its ads for some shitty supply company or some h2ocean bs. sex sells blah blah blah. all show and no substance. my uncle buys me those things and i always end up putting them right in the trash. i wouldn't want my picture in one of those things. sorry...
  21. I would get my hands and neck tattooed but I do not work in the tattoo industry and I live in a super conservative town. I think it would makes things pretty hard for me. Maybe some day that will chance but for now I am ok with out it. Its also nice to be able to cover everything up and not have people bug me. I tend to wear long sleeves more often than not. I though about getting my scalp tattooed a while ago because I could easily grow my hair back and cover it if i wanted but my hairline is slowly receding. I also have developed alopecia in the past few years, so I have random patches of hair fall out of my scalp/beard.
  22. so far i am enjoying this backlash against tattoo reality tv with things like this and the gypsy gentleman. i am curious how it will pan out down the road.
