  1. Ya that is a good point just with the few artists i have contacted sometimes the wait list is longer and some times its shorter people say a lot of things on the internet :)
  2. great tattoo , welcome aboard
  3. Anybody who has seen part I think its a good idea to wait till the whole thing is done to watch it ?
  4. thanks guy for all the advice anyone know how long of a waiting list Bill Canales has ?
  5. Ya gonna tell my dad real soon i know he is not gonna take it well , but at my age he really can't complain so my angle is i don't wanna upset him cause he is a great guy. I am struck with a certain sense of irony that in the past i competed in sports where i could have ended up seriously injured and that was fine with him, but some ink into the dermis .....ohh no....don't do that. But he is old school and his generation often see's tattoo's under any circumstances as something bad.
  6. I know I can't draw dunno why so many of the people that did these awful tattoo's can be honest about how terrible they are at it.
  7. Welcome aboard you came to the right place people are really helpful here.
  8. Thanks for the help guys ya i would rather wait and get a great tattoo then rush and get stuck with something i have to tell a story as to why i allowed someone to put 'that' on my skin :) That tattoo Mike Suarez did is amazing. * thanks for all the advice of people that keep posting :)
  9. Figured i would bump this thread especially since i can't post a thread of my own yet. I am looking to get a full sleeve dragon tattoo , the two artists i have found so far that i really like there work and had similar examples to what i have in mind are Terry Ribera and Bill Canales. I am willing to drive to Los Angeles and anywhere in between but am looking for some other artists simply because i am so new to Tattoo's and i really wanna look at a lot of people's work before i make up my mind. As far as other cities go obviously LA has a lot of choices and the first one that just grabbed my attention was phillip spearmen but i have no idea if he has a long wait list or not.
  10. Ya i have seen a few people mention leads about ways to get a hold of him all of which seemed invasive, i would feel like a massive creep trying to show up where someone walks there dog to try and make a contact etc.
  11. how many is too many ? If each one has meaning to the person and they are well executed why not. * in retrospect ya gonna go with troll......this seems like a strange place for a tattoo gender specific minimalist to show up.....yes i just made that term up :)
  12. welcome aboard curious about the head tattoo myself :)
  13. Really helpful thread for me as well, i am one of those people who has a hard time sitting still so it got me thinking in terms of how long do i really wanna sit for.
  14. Thanks for the advice ya i have found some pretty lame comments about phenomenal artists on yelp, Bill Canales is someone i am leaning towards i just wanna spent a lot of time researching before i commit to one artist, also i am open to driving to Los Angeles or anywhere in between San Diego and there. Is state of grace in San Jose or is there one in San Diego as well ? I will check out instagram
  15. Hi i am 40 years old from San Diego and I have literally 0 tattoo's , I have always liked Tattoo's and really like hearing about the stories people have about their ink and what it means to them. I think the reason I held off on getting a tattoo is because i didn't wanna get something that looked great but i had no personal connection to the image and what it meant to me. At this point what i am leaning toward is a full sleeve neo japanese design i have a rough idea of what elements i want i do not have a complete image in my head what it is gonna look like. Right now i am researching studio's and artists in my area and have found some that their work is jaw droppingly amazing , but this is permanent and i really wanna do it right. So main reason i am here is to get some help with what is the best resource for searching for an artist. I have looked at yelp and several other search engine review type sites and funny they all list different places/artists as the top.....so for me i kinda have this ohh sweet 10 different places say they are the best in town now what.......anyway nice to be aboard and looking forward to learning a lot. So right off the bat is this a good resource >>>>> TrueArtists - WORLD'S LARGEST ASSOCIATION OF CERTIFIED TATTOO ARTISTS ...anyway i am sure many people have been in the exact situation i am in so i will do some searching on this site.
