  1. I came across a place that does pretty twee flash when I was looking for someone to do my upcoming koi piece.
  2. Does the US or UK have creative commons licences? In New Zealand we have this thing where the artist chooses if and how they want their work shared/tweaked/used commercially or not: Licences explained | Creative Commons Aotearoa New Zealand
  3. I don't have batwings, I have full dragon flight going on :p
  4. In New Zealand we don't tip. I think the artist would be uncomfortable and see it as some kind of bribe. Gifts would be fine though. The place I'm going to next week has a maximum full day charge of NZ$800 (US$683).
  5. Being a fat woman, people are rude to me about my body anyway. Might as well get all the great tattoos I want, fuck 'em!
  6. No advice from me, just saying hi from down under down under :p

What the fuck is wrong with people, seriously
  8. Apparently an inverted ankh is a symbol of Nyarlahotep from the Cthulhu mythos.
  9. I haven't been tattooed for 12 years due to not being in paid work until recently (studying, parenting) and the studios I have been to previously have closed. Looking forward to building a relationship with one artist starting with my upcoming half-sleeve in early April.

I think there is a boy called Grayson being bullied about his MLP backpack at the mo?

    Hi from NZ

    Thanks for the welcomes!

  13. Today at my appointment I asked the artists if they had reservations tattooing larger folks, as I had read on another tattoo forum that some artists have a problem with it. They seemed genuinely surprised that it was even a thing. I mentioned I'd heard about the difficulty getting a good stretch thing and they were like "no... we're professionals, it's fine..."

    Hi from NZ

I was scheduled to have Restraint and seclusion training next month but it conflicted with my graduation. They are trying really hard to not only minimise but to eliminate using seclusion all together in our DHB, it's a sticky issue. Lots of nurses are scared they will get hurt if they throw seclusion out... but then again lots of nurses use seclusion inappropriately because they are afraid.
  15. Just put down a hefty deposit on a koi half sleeve... the outline and shading is booked for April 8th. Pretty damn excited.
  16. Honestly? I think it depends on what it is. People here in NZ are more accepting of cultural tattoos like moko and tatau, so those aren't as much of a problem (but often only if it is congruent with the ethnic identity of the wearer). Small tattoos on anyone doesn't seem to cause a fuss, but we did get asked in class, "Does anyone have any problematic tattoos?" heh. I asked someone at work what the policy was and they said "just cover it up", but I see people with extensive forearm tattoos all the time. Maybe because Mental Health has a good ratio of male to female nurses so the culture is quite different from general nursing, which is more uptight.
  17. I am getting a symbol of my family's first initials done this weekend, and also starting to plan a koi half sleeve... can't wait!
  18. I'm a Registered Nurse like some others here, and if I was in General Medical/Surgical I would be more limited in what I could have visible, but I'm in Mental Health, which appears to be far more relaxed about that sort of thing.
  19. I have an ankh and people always ask me if it is: a) a satanic symbol b) a feminist symbol c) a lesbian symbol d) a cross I tell these people it's a stick figure with their legs shut.
  20. I had an acquaintance once who was 19 years old and got the name 'PANTERA' in 5 inch high letters across her abdomen. 15 years later I wonder if she still likes it... usually when I tell that anecdote people say, "What is Pantera?"...
  21. I'm another person who joined this forum based on the maturity and positive attitudes of the people in this thread! Thanks a bunch :)
