  1. Thanks @TrixieFaux and @El Dolmago

I think she'll get over it too. I gave her a big hug and reminded her that she didn't -really- have a normal mummy anyway. She said, "oh, yeah..." Heh. I reassured her that just because I was getting an upper arm tattoo didn't mean I was going to suddenly pick her up from school in a tank top (because that's not what I normally wear).

I also printed out for her the koi design I'm getting and asked her to colour it for me. Now she's really excited and wants to show the tattoo artist her colour choices ;)

  2. And on another note: Mummies/Mommies with tattoos... my 10 year old daughter imagined the tattoo I am getting tomorrow would be smaller. Now that she has realised I am getting my upper arm covered she is upset. I asked her why she is upset and she said "Because I want a normal mummy!".

    Heart -broken-.

  3. From the store at the Japanese American National Museum. Shipping will no doubt be expensive to New Zealand but the book is only $20 and it's worth much, much more than that. I really recommend it if you have any interest whatsoever in Japanese tattoos.

USD$20 plus USD$31 in postage for slow mail... If you say it's worth it, I'll believe you :)

First off if you want to look proper then you need to go over onto the chest as well. Which is awesome because that makes the tattoo even tougher.

Does that apply to the ladies?

    "Bushido"

This is the book I originally read about the shading in, I believe.

  4. I just ate the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth (and I've eaten camel).

    UNREFINED COCOA BEANS.

Just a few flakes gave me an instant headache- my body wanted to reject it instantly, I thought I was allergic for a moment there. Nope- it's just pure evil, and the cursed ghost of it is haunting my digestive tract.

  5. I'm getting a 'large cohesive' koi tattoo on my upper arm this Saturday, and the artist has just sent a sketch through for me to look at. He has stated "shading and colour to your liking".

I want to let him know that I want the shading to be "dark and stripy, with scalloped edges", as they say in Japan. Ok, they don't say that... I don't know the correct terminology. Can someone please help me out? :p
