  1. I'm being tattooed on the Saturday by Ross Nagle (he also tattooed me at the convention last year), are there many LST people planning on being at the convention this year?

I really like @ross nagles work. Might take a trip over to Ireland next year.

    I know @Iwar , @RoryQ and @asradin are going. There's a thread http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/lst-get-togethers-tattoo-conventions/2563-london-tattoo-convention-2012-a.html

  2. "...otherwise every gang member would be running around packing a matchlock."

That would be a bit weird for sure... 'Give me all your money' as he takes out his power, takes out the ram rod, slowly packing his black power rifle......

Wow, I truly feel sorry for you! Well if you ever feel like heading over "the pond", I'm sure we got a spot for you!

Here is a nice little tidbit of "saving the public". Those damn Olympic marksmen are down right dangerous!

UK Olympic Pistol Shooters Allowed to Practice with Mock Pistols « Daily Bulletin

Another wow article. "Unlike shotguns and rifles, pistols have no application outside personal violence"

Olympics: Why Britain's shooters should stop whinging about pistol ban | Sport | The Guardian

In my view the GB pistol team should have boycotted the Olympics. As a matter of principle, if nothing else.

At least it would have caused a little bit of embarrassment to the UK government.

One of the problems is that UK shooters have never really stuck together.

As far as the guy who wrote the article in the Guardian he is an idiot. He knows nothing about guns or shooting. What criminal would be the slightest bit interested in a single shot .22 rimfire target pistol.

As for the ban on pistols it has done nothing to stop gun crime. But then it’s a lot easier to take guns from law abiding people than it is from criminals.

And as for the notion that you should have the right to defend yourself, heaven forbid.

  3. How about this for crazy. The gun laws in the UK allows anyone to own, and hung on the wall at home, an antique muzzle loader or an obsolete calibre firearm.

If, as a firearms certificate holder, I wanted to shoot the gun I would need to have it entered on my licence and stored securely.

Once I no longer want to shoot the gun I have to get the gun removed from my licence and I can hang it on the wall again.

Modern reproductions of any of these guns have to be held on a firearms certificate. I suppose its a good thing otherwise every gang member would be running around packing a matchlock.

Good to know our government is putting public safety first.

  4. We can't actually own, pistols as such in the uk, or short arm as they are classified (apart from Northern Ireland). Long barrelled pistols and revolvers are permitted as long as the overall length is no shorter than 24". This is achieved by adding a wrist brace or counter balance together with a 12" barrel to give the overall 24" legal minimum.

Strange as it may seem criminals seem to ignore this.

I have a Taurus 66 .357 magnum & a nice little .22 Browning Buckmark long barrelled pistol. The Buckmark has had the barrel milled down with a carbon fibre shroud and moderator. It’s superbly balanced. It shoots just like a regular Buckmark pistol and is real quiet.

The next problem with the shitty UK gun laws is a restriction on owning semi automatic centrefire rifles. I own a AR15 9mm lever release from The Southern Gun Company, fitted with an Eotech holographic sight. It uses a really clever mechanism using a sear to hold the bolt back after its fired. The lever releases the bolt chambering the next round. With a bit of practice you can fire nearly as quickly as a semi-auto. All these guns were seized by UK police but had to be handed back after they were confirmed UK legal.

Luckily we have some incredibly dedicated and brilliant gunsmiths in the UK.

    I also own

Sako Quad @Jade1959 shoots this one better than me.

Henry Big Boy Underlever in .357 magnum (made in the Big Apple)

    GSG5 22LR (Shitty but acurate).

Saiga AK 101 .223 with a skeleton folding stock.(Straight Pull due to UK Gun laws)

MK 4 Lee Enfield 303, made at the Longbranch Arsenal, Canada,1959.

    Martini Henry 577/450

Snider .577 (That I have restored. Haven't shot it yet)

I also reload all my own ammo using an imported Dillon XL 650.

Here's a couple of my toys

  5. That’s why it’s important to take some time to think things over. Going through tattoo designs and catalogues is always worth the time and effort, especially if you are getting it with someone you love. Some couples get infinity symbols or each other’s names tattooed while others even get wedding ring designs inked to their fingers. So you want to make sure your design is unique because you don’t want to end up with the same wedding ring design as the next random guy you see.

@johnmc I think you've posted this in the wrong thread.

    This thread's about tattoo aftercare.

  6. I love this story.

A 50- something year old white woman arrived at her seat on a crowded flight and immediately didn't want the seat. The seat was next to a black man. Disgusted, the woman immediately summoned the flight attendant and demanded a new seat. The woman said "I cannot sit here next to this black man." The fight attendant said "Let me see if I can find another seat." After checking, the flight attendant returned and stated "Ma'am, there are no more seats in economy, but I will check with the captain and see if there is something in first class." About 10 minutes went by and the flight attendant returned and stated "The captain has confirmed that there are no more seats in economy, but there is one in first class. It is our company policy to never move a person from economy to first class, but being that it would be some sort of scandal to force a person to sit next to an UNPLEASANT person, the captain agreed to make the switch to first class." Before the woman could say anything, the attendant gestured to the black man and said, "Therefore sir, if you would so kindly retrieve your personal items, we would like to move you to the comfort of first class as the captain doesn't want you to sit next to an unpleasant person." Passengers in the seats nearby began to applause while some gave a standing ovation

  7. Drinking a bottle of O'Hara's Irish Stout.

There's a plethora of great Irish stouts around at the moment... Dungarvan Black Rock Stout, Porterhouse plain, Porterhouse Oyster stout, Porterhouse Wrasslers XXXX, O'Hara's Lean Folainn and the plain old O'Hara's Irish stout I just mentioned. Mostly dry tasting, in the real Irish fashion, and all of them infinitley superior to Guinness.

I think, of all of them, the regular O'Hara's is my favourite session stout. Their Leann Folainn is a thicker, heavier brew, but the regular black bottle 'Irish stout' is a good one to look for. The brewing company behind these - O'Hara's / Carlow Brewing Company - stole a march on a lot of other Irish companies and started exporting abroad before they even had much of a market here in Ireland... That's worked out well for them apparently. Worth trying if you guys come across them.

Had some of this on the train yesterday.

Irish Stout, brewed by non other than the Carlow Brewing Co. Very good it was too.

  8. Ribs are just so AWESOME to get tattooed! My left side was just north of four hours, and I just loved every second of it.

    Not.

You're really getting the good stuff there...next time I got to Europe I might have to sneak out for a weekend in London.

@ Dan S Ha ha ha when I read the first line I thought WTF. :D

A weekend in London is a must. Be sure to let me know when your in town it'll be a blast to meet up.

  9. It looks great. How many hours so far, and how many sessions have you broken it up into? I have one side down and one to go. It will be my last multiple session tattoo, and I am happy about that, but not so happy about another rib tattoo.

Many thanks. Six hours so far 2x3 one more three hours session.

Not much fun is it, :)
